I wish I could give this place 5 stars. Read my other reviews, I'm very generous with giving 5 star reviews. I came here with my son to enjoy a sushi night to catch up on life and enjoy great food. This is a 3 star review and this is why: The good: food here is fantastic, you won't go wrong with ordering sushi. This is top notch fresh sushi. The interior is gorgeous, has a very romantic and happy vibe going on here. This is a place you can propose marriage at the table and it would feel right. Host was very friendly and was accommodating to take a picture of me and my son in the beautiful lobby. The bad: the waitress had some off and weird energy going on. She was quite attractive and neat in appearance but . . . She came checking on our table every 30 seconds. No joke! I asked my son in humor "I think she likes you". Not sure why she would come to our table way too frequently. This is probably how George Clooney feels when he goes out. This was very strange that it was flattering at first but soon became extremely annoying. Strange, right ?!?! 2 Filipino males just enjoying sushi night and the waitress really made it weird. So please come here and eat but hopefully you don't get that kind of paparazzi in your face kind of service by the waitress. Waitress, if you are reading this: I'm married so that's a no go for me. My son is single but it would've been way less weird if you just asked him for his phone number. This place was packed during our dinner time so there's no logical reason for the waitress to check on us every 30 seconds. Thanks for making me feel like a celebrity that night but we just wanted to eat and enjoy. Next time please just check on us maybe every 5 minutes only. We like this place and we will be back. I stopped by with the family to get some Teppanyaki because I was craving some Ah-So! The service was good and quick! The ambiance was nice and clean. I ordered the steak with rice always my go too! Cannot go wrong with this choice! It was delicious. I loooove their yum yum sauce. We also started with the Japanese Lettuce Wraps, these are also delicious! Sooo good and refreshing!! My man also got the Calamari Strips and he loved it!!! Their side salad they bring to the table before the meal is sooo good, I love the dressing. I get two salads instead of soup and salad because I love the salad that much haha!! My man got steak and shrimp for his meal and my kiddo got steak and rice for his like his momma! So went for lunch, not open until 12:00. Very little handicap parking (2 spaces) already taken so had to park across the street in a main parking area. It was a long way around to get to a wheelchair ramp. Once inside, the place was wide open and probably because there were workmen there drilling fake flowers into a fake tree. It will be lovely when finished but not a pleasant way to enjoy a nice lunch with all that noise. The sushi was ok, nice size pieces. Miso was also good. Chicken Katsu flavorless and over cooked. We've not been here to this location for quite a while. When we entered we noticed that it had gone through a renovation. Not quite sure I understand the setup but the booths we were brought to were in the screened in patio? Quite noisy with traffic passing by outside. Also we kept getting a whiff of a sewage smell! I didn't say anything until my wife brought it up. Service was not up to par. Food was good. Small portions for the price. Not sure about a return visit. Sorry. Used to be one of my favorite spots, but I hadn't been here in a while. The last few times we came, things seemed to be trending downhill and the food just wasn't tasting as fresh as it used to. My family brought me here tonight for my birthday and, wow, what a change. The place has been completely redesigned, and the food tasted fantastic. Folks standing around and no one greets you. The Only one working is the young lady that is the hostess. She is a sweetheart and did all she could to get me what I needed. I've been here a couple times with family. The food, is absolutely phenomenal. The only downside is the wait time, there's no point making a reservation as it doesn't matter when you arrive, you will not be the priority. So walking in will most likely be the best chance you have. read more

I came here with the intention of ordering off the lunch menu. I was trying my luck though because their lunch hours weren't listed. I later found out that it was only available Monday through Thursday after the host asked the manager. The day I went was a Friday and I just walked a little too much in the sun to turn around so I dined anyway. I ordered a Kirin on draft and their Ah So roll. Their draft beers aren't listed and you will have to ask. It came with a lukewarm miso soup which was honestly a good thing because there was no way I'd eat that hot during that day. The roll was definitely spicy as described. The roll was large but I was grateful because this restaurant is on the more expensive side. I think the prices are too high for this area. You can go to other places nearby for good sushi for a lot less. They're trying to charge LA prices when they're not in LA. read more

Warning: I'm writing to report a severe food poisoning incident at the AHSO restaurant. On May 23, 2025, my family and I had the teppanyaki dinner with shrimp and those who had the shrimp fell ill within two hours. I reported this to the manager Byron, who assured me he would document the incident, but I have not received any follow-up. Byron mentioned they could only act if other customers reported similar issues, which is unacceptable. My family has been sick for four days with lingering symptoms. I have reported the incident to Maricopa County Environmental Services for investigation. The food, dining, and customer service have deteriorated, and I do not recommend dining here under any circumstances. read more

I found it to be a fun experience. The chef was very good at what he did. The waitress who took our order did well to ask and write down our orders. The chef also went over our orders with us before beginning the cooking 'show'. The presentation of the food was good. The food itself was good and portions were reasonable for the price/experience. The added tip was folded under the check so you could not see it. Only unfolding the check showed you the gratuity added section. Very good food. Started with egg rolls and a very sweet sauce which was really a great addition. Then we had some chicken broth soup which was also really yummy. Main course was teriyaki chicken which was nice and crispy and addition to grilled vegetables and rice. This is a really good place and I hadn't been here and I've had many opportunities to go in here for lunch. Arrived for a Party of 14 people, staff and manager refused to seat until 2 children that the party was waiting on to be dropped off by their mom and dad. In other words, the manager doesn't want to allow us to start spending money before 2 minor children have shown up. I rarely write reviews, but my experience at Ah-So Steak and Sushi was so bad that I feel like people should know. We had made a reservation well in advance for my stepmom's birthday, but when we arrived, they acted like it didn't matter. They didn't hold the reservation, and we were left standing around with no explanation and no urgency from the staff to make it right. On top of that, the bartender completely ignored us -- we sat there waiting while they served other people who came after us. It felt rude and dismissive. A birthday dinner that should have been special ended up being stressful and disappointing.Honestly, if you're looking for a place that values your time and wants you to feel welcome, this is not it. Went here for dinner on a Friday evening. Ah-So is a Teppanyaki and sushi spot. I will say the food itself was tasty but it took so long to receive food it was tempting to go somewhere else. To start shorty after sitting down the waitress checked in. But afterwards disappeared for a long while so when she returned I just ordered an appetizer and entree at the same time. Now this is probably related to being short staffed... But the it took about a full hour to get food. Specifically appetizers. The rest of the food did arrive pretty soon after but the pacing was just awful. Had I known it would take so long I would have just skipped an appetizer since the food got brought out almost at the same time. Onto the positive, the food was actually delicious. The scallops were well cooked and large and a good portion. The appetizer was good , just please work on bringing it out quicker. Part of me feels a bit bad to be a bit harsh with service but at the same time it was not how I wanted to be spending part of my Friday night just waiting for food. First got the gen z stare when we came in, but it's under construction so I confirmed they were open mid afternoon. She said yes so we (2 people) were sat at a regular table. We ordered a glass of wine each but was told they replaced that brand with another one. We agreed that was fine, but they never told us it was $8 more per glass. We didn't see that until the bill so that was misleading. The restaurant was under remodel and had a tarp covering a large area but was insanely hot and I was sweating through my clothes. I could not wait to get out of there. Honestly I never liked the restaurant from years ago but agreed to try it w my boyfriend who had never been. Food and Sushi was mediocre. We would never go back even for quick bite since the prices are way too high for basic food.
