Dad and I were looking for a place to eat and were deciding between Black Bear Dinner or Ah-So. We haven't been to Ah-So since my birthday many years ago over in Northterra. So we decided on Ah-So and so blown away. First we were greeted and got to pick where ever we wanted to sit which was great, but we didn't expect the stream with Fish!! It was so cool to see that! We loved it. We always love seeing an attraction like this so it already bumped it up. Secondly I havent been into any Miso soups lately no matter where I have gone, it just hasn't done it for me. This changed today. I enjoyed and loved the taste of the tofu behind my combo meal, Dad also got one. I got the Chicken Katsu and Dad got the Teriyaki Chicken combo. We hadn't expected the miso soup to be added to it so that was a plus. The food was amazing! Dad loved the grilled taste and how the vegetables were grilled with the chicken and you could taste it. I loved the tempura and the crunch of the Katsu. All in all amazing. Something we really loved was the fact that it feels comfortable here. The set up of the restaurant made us so relaxed and it didn't feel too modern or pretentious it just was perfect like going to the local Japanese place in Japan. Highly highly recommend. The lunch combos were also all 18 bucks even on weekends! We will be back to try the teppanyaki and the teriyaki salmon when we are able. read more

This place is nice. They accommodated our big party of 17. Everyone ordered a wide variety of food and appetizers. It was all good. If I could say one thing or suggest. Garlic butter I felt is a must in hibachi. I think that was the only thing that was missing in this food. But overall I would be back. Everything was phenomenal here! We came in as a walk in and got seated right away and had the whole grill to ourselves. I was taken back because most places I been to have waited for the rest of the table to fill. Our chef was super nice and entertaining. I ordered the filet and my boyfriend ordered the spicy shrimp and chicken. Everything tasted amazing and we left with happy bellies 1000%. Wow! If you want delicious food with entertainment, GO. HERE. The BEST Ah-So in the Valley. If you want steak, just get the filet. It's worth it. So juicy and tender! WOW! The BEST SUSHI here in AZ! I've been an Az resident for 31 years and this is still consistently the best sushi spot I've found. Singh and Thomas are amazing at the sushi bar and Linda and Uni have always been amazing servers that take care of us. They all take care of us individually and are very personable. Horrible experience. Wanted to introduce my family to hibachi and my old to go spot got shut down so we gave this one a try. Upon entering the building we were greeted and directed to our seats in a very dark and stuffy room. Decor looks outdated and dusty. We got seated and a lady took our orders and it took them 15 minutes to bring out the mushroom soup and the salad. Service by our hostess remained slow all night. Food was smaller than what I've had at all hibachi places I've been to. We were left hungry. Got our bill and was surprised to see an automatic 20% gratuity added to our party of 4. I asked the server about it and she said it is usually added to parties of 6+ but since costs have gone up they have started to charge that for everyone. They said it also had to do with the owners revamping the menu and incurring lots of extra costs. I had already tipped my hibachi chef, whose show was the bare minimum to say the least. RUDE. I wanted to place an order and the guy on the phone was very short with me and I was wanting to try this place for the first time ever and this was a horrible first impression. I asked if they had gluten free soy sauce they do, I was excited to try the fried rice. I ordered at 10:20 they close at 11. And the guy said very rudely "are you gunna be here before 10:45?" I said yes I am only 4 minutes away from the restaurant and then I placed the order and he says again " are you gunna be here before 10:45?? For the past 5 years this has been our annual New Years Eve dinner, and every year they don't disappoint. Know though, if you are on a budget this isn't the place for you! For a couples filet and shrimp combo, one child's steak, one Sapporo, one draft Michelob Ultra, one Soda and a crispy lobster roll appetizer our bill was $138. Food and service is always outstanding. Filet fork tender, shrimp large and fresh. We have lucked out the last several years and have had the same gentleman prepare our food! He is funny and includes everyone at the table with his antics. We love this Ah-So, the interior might need to be updated (they are expanding to the suite next door) but the food, the food is simple, fresh and tasty! read more

Forced Gratuity even on small parties. BEWARE. Service is hit and miss - our server was terrible so to see the forced gratuity of 18% was appalling. We asked for a manager, only the assistant manager was on staff. I'm not sure what in their food poisened me but I suspect MSG. I looked up their brand of soy sauce and it was not supposed to contain MSG but my hunch is they fill the bottles with a substitute and not that name brand. Teppanyaki grill is always full even at early dining so make a reservation. They only have had 2 teppanyaki tables going recently. Food was ok, nothing great. Service really broke the evening and then top it off with some type of food poisening. I will never go back. This is the 2nd bad experience in a row with them, not trying for a 3rd. read more

This is literally the worst hibachi I have ever had. The service was awful and they added a $25 tip to the bill without asking. $173 for the couples dinner with one drink each. The lobster tasted like rubber fish that has been sitting at the bottom of the freezer and I don't think they seasoned a single part of the meal. Every vegetable was under cooked. I've been here several times with my wife and son- usually drop at least $200 per visit, but have had enough. We LOVE Tepanyaki- but the Service here is horrible. I honestly do not like leaving negative reviews- BUT, if you prefer to be comfortable and like good service, this place is frigid and demanding. The Tepanyaki is the main reason we used to go there- but you are told where you "MUST" sit, like it or not. Yeah, that doesn't work for me...I am a big dude and need the end of the Tepanyaki table since they really pack you in. I can appreciate filling up a table before opening the next one, but if a CUSTOMER has a preference of sitting at the end- which is not taken- WHY would you insist he sit in the middle? Makes no sense. Cramped table, meat portions have been cut back and hard to get the attention of the staff once your initial order is taken. Comically, you see the staff standing around, talking to each other- I had to literally get up and walk up to them to order another beer. Surreal. I had date night dinner with my wife last night 6/28/24 With times like this that's hard to go out to a restaurant especially paying over $140 for my bill and to get a horrible customer service by my waitress Linda. It's very disappointing to know there's no customer service like you expect when you work hard all week! and finally plan a date night with the wifey to go out and enjoy a great meal. But unfortunately my waitress Linda does not know what customer service is! I had a bad experience at the end after she brought my bill. I was still eating and finishing up my food and Beer, then she takes my bill and 3 minutes later she came back again with my bill thinking I had already put my debit card, she noticed i hadn't payed yet. So she comes back to bring my bill again with an awful attitude! And I asked her why she took my bill. She responded I need to go, I need to go.. so I told her if she just wanted her tip or what she did not reply and left me with no answer. She just went back where I can see her, only to go wrap more forks. She never left after I finished my beer. I was very upset with how she reacted! This is a chain of restaurants. The show is good, the food is very overpriced for the quality. This is a strip mall, blacked-out windows, out of order bathroom, type location. Good for groups if you aren't picky and have deep pockets. Service is okay but became scarce once the show was over. The miso soup that came was a large bowl, but much too salty. I usually love miso and know how it's supposed to taste. They used too much chicken bouillon. I ordered shrimp and lobster, my husband had filet. It was quite a wait for a slow Thursday night to get our food prepped and the chef to come out. The show was fun, but I sadly watched the chef seriously overcook the shrimp and lobster tail. It was almost inedible. I don't care for fried rice and it seemed like they were pushing rice on us to fill the void. I wish I would have told him to take the fish off the grill before finishing the chicken and steak dishes. That would have been awkward though. The sushi roll was okay.
