First timers! We've never been here before and always wondered what the hype was about. We arrived Wednesday night around 6:30 and had plenty of seating. The restaurant is well decorated, with sugar skulls displayed throughout--very cool atmosphere. I ordered the chimi appetizer, and my hubby had the shrimp enchiladas. Both dishes were amazing. The chimi could've been a little more fried, but it still tasted great (and hey, the air fryer tomorrow fixes everything ). My hubby absolutely loved the shrimp enchiladas. First time trying this place. Came in at 5pm on a Wednesday for happy hour with my work team of 4. We ordered the chips and guacamole & salsa appetizer, which was ok. I had the Al Pastor tacos which were a little greasy and just average. Black beans were excellent; Spanish rice was salty. This place is ok but not a craveable " must come again". First time in and cannot wait to come back in! The tropic heat marg was perfect blend of spice and pineapple, pretty sure it's the best spicy marg I've had! We started with the chips and salsa and enjoyed the texture of the salsa. It wasn't too chunky and had a great salt level! The chips were salted nicely and tasted fresh. I got the vampire tacos which had a ton of flavor from the marinade/seasoning on the meat and the consume was a great addition. I appreciated the quantity of meat on each taco as well. My hubs got the Tijuana burrito and he loved it! She enjoyed the cook on the carne and the ratio of meat to cheese to beans. The cheese sauce on top was absolutely delish too! I wish I got a side for my tacos lol We both appreciated our special requested being fulfilled as well, always a bonus when you don't have to worry about that It was a slow Sunday afternoon but the service was nice from the hostess to our server. These folks ain't playing around with name. Salt is well represented in every dish, the black beans...good but salty. The Spanish rice, just too salty. The barbacoa taco had sone nice flavors but the salt overpowered everything. I arrived at happy hour which had good prices on tacos and appetizers. I ordered the guacamole which came sprinkled with pomegranate seeds, a nice touch and had good chunks of avocado; ceviche - quite good, plus chicken tacos - good but not spectacular hence the 4 star. I didn't realize that the ceviche also came with a huge portion of freshly fried chips so I had a double dose of chips from the guacamole and ended up taking a huge box of chips home, surprisingly they still tasted fresh even 3 days later. read more

Very clean and cool decor. Think of this place as Chipotle with a bar... except the food and service suck. We waited a very long time just to be acknowledged by the server all evening. It wasn't even busy when we got there (that should have been our first clue). When he finally did make it over, he managed to combine the warmth of a DMV employee with the enthusiasm of someone who had just been told tacos were illegal. Appetizer: Guac Trio The guacamole actually came out pretty quickly... which was impressive considering it arrived without chips. Just three lonely bowls of guacamole sitting there like they were waiting for their ride home. Our server dropped them off and disappeared before taking our dinner order. We then waited about 30 minutes for him to return with chips, which I assume he personally went out to the cornfield to harvest and fry. Dinner: By the time our food came out we had been there about 45 minutes, which felt ambitious for what essentially amounted to tacos that tasted like they were assembled by someone who had only heard stories about Mexican food. At that point the restaurant had finally started to get busy, which was impressive because I'm not sure how. Maybe everyone else just came for the decor... which, to be fair, is the best thing on the menu. Overall:Great place if you enjoy modern interior design, long periods of reflection while waiting for chips, and tacos that make you wonder if you should have just gone to Chipotle. read more

Team lunch was from here and it was delicious. We had it to go so I'm not sure how service was, but I'll assume it was fine. The queso was surprisingly good and I'm not a huge fan of queso. Chips were pretty standard, not super thin, so you could load them up with queso and guacamole. The guacamole had pomegranate, lime and onions and it's the first time I think I've had pomegranate with my guacamole and I actually liked it like that. Might have to make it myself like that too. I had the beef birria bowl. The beef in mine was a little on the fatty side, but the flavor was delicious. It wasn't too salty, I would've preferred a bit more spice to it, but I didn't have any hot sauce with me, otherwise I probably would have added a little Valentina to it (with the black label, iykyk) bc I like my ancho Chile sauce with a bigger kick Anyway, it was hearty portion, the rice wasn't mushy and the beans were pretty decent. 8/10. Food is sub-par AT BEST. Tortillas taste like they were frozen, then thawed. Little-to-no seasoning on meat or rest of the food. Ordered a side of fries with pastor burrito and the side of fries was so small (fries were also clearly frozen then thawed, no salt or seasoning). Additionally, our waiter came by maybe once every 20-25 minutes (not an exaggeration). Restaurant wasn't busy, maybe 1/3 occupied. And the cherry on top was our waiter providing a check after we didn't request one. Maybe we wanted more food? Or drinks? No question on whether or not we were splitting the bill between 3 friends? And 2 hours until closed.... (on a Saturday 3/21)? Not to mention the mediocre food is over-priced for what you get. I hate giving one stars, but this one seems validated. The food was really good! The vampiro quesadillas were the best thing I've had here. It was filling and the consommé was sooo tasty. I was very happy with my food and although I didn't finish, the leftovers would make a perfect lunch the following day. We sat on the patio, our server was super nice and even accommodated an off menu item for us , cheese crisps. The inside was super chilly so sitting on the patio was a must. Although we were not affected, the patio misters came on and the entire patio ran out of there. It was actually pretty funny. We went in the evening , and it was not hot out so I would have ran away too had that been us. Everyone enjoyed the food. The queso dip was mid. We won't order that again, it was watery and lukewarm at best. We are used to hot thick and creamy queso. It didn't affect our meal at all, just won't get it again is all. Forgot to mention my drink! Came into Salt on a Tuesday and loved that they had some solid specials going on. The tacos were really tasty, definitely hit the spot. They do charge $2.50 for chips and salsa, which feels like it should come with the meal, but it's not a dealbreaker. The skinny margarita was just okay; not bad, but nothing to write home about. Tried this place for the first time. I've been wanting to try it for a while. The ambience indoors was really cool decor. I liked it . initially was sat on the patio at a dirty table sandwiched between two tables with a lot of small children so we moved inside. The food was really good. I would definitely give it another chance, but the service was mediocre. I had to ask for appetizer plates and my Prosecco was served in a scratched up plastic flute, which I would not have ordered Prosecco if I would've known that, they were serving it in a plastic glass. We ordered the prickly pear margaritas and they were sooooo good and refreshing. For appetizers we ordered the elotes dip, and it was so flavorful and creamy I nearly finished it by myself. It also looked pretty too! ordered the taquitos, we got 2 shredded beef and 2 shredded chicken they were also very delicious. My husband ordered a chicken entree, which I cannot remember the name of but did happen to snap a pic, he said it was very juicy and also full of flavor. Then 30 minutes went by no water or drinks, and our server was not in sight. The host who was busting a near by table asked us if we have been greeted by a server yet. Told them again no avocado, finally it comes back with the no beans & avocado and it's no longer carne asada but carnitas :/ I also ordered regular ceviche and they served me a mango ceviche. Don't know if the server lost her notepad or whatnot but she did come back not even 10 minutes after we ordered food asking to get clarification on our order and yet it still came out wrong. Also after we got the bowl that wasn't carne asada, the server came back not even 5 minutes later asking if we needed to go boxes, which we took as our sign to leave. The food was fantastic as were the n Margaritas! The only downside was our server was not very attentive. She was pleasant but hard to get her back to our table. Found metal in my burrito. Honestly, for a General Manager, that was a bare-minimum, cold response to something that could've ended me up in the ER. Not even a "Are you okay?" "Can we refund your meal?" ( I said I didn't want one but as someone who's been in management, they still should have offered.) "Would you mind sending us a photo so we can investigate further?" Super bummed because the location and decor of this place is super fun and trendy. - walked in, first thought, looked short staffed. - secondly, it was just as hot as outside if not hotter- but INSIDE, it felt like the AC was not on at all. That is always a concern of mine for food and beverage temps. - used the restroom, and both restrooms were dirty in women's restroom, both trash cans were on the floor like they fell off the wall & they were short on TP. * mamas- there is a changing table in the bathroom! So that is a huge plus! - our bar drinks took forever. Our appetizer came before our bar drinks. Food was okay? Nothing that exciting. Located in Norterra, I've passed this place many times while visiting this cute shopping complex. Colorful, friendly service, great menu and we're off to a great start. Menu had lots of choices from appetizers to deserts. We were seated immediately in a very spacious booth. Server attentive and efficient! Today we ordered the chips and salsa to start along with a flight of Margaritas. Yum! The Margaritas consisted of 4 different types: Prickly Oear, Kiwi, pineapple and raspberries. All were flavorful but, my favorite pineapple. Don't let these mini sized drinks fool you. They pack a punch. Tacos Camarones (shrimp) and chicken enchiladas were ordered, tacos were very good! My family of four ended up with severe food poisoning from this filthy restaurant. Hershey squirts for two days, stomach cramps and vomiting four hours after we ate this trash. Food was undercooked, chips were rancid, queso was literally WalMart Tostitos cheese dip and it was spoiled....on and on. The worst so-called Mexican food I've ever had the immense displeasure of eating in 60 years.... Calling to report to AZ health department. Took a while for our server to come by but when she did, we ordered some drinks and appetizers. She never came back for our food order after dropping off our drinks and our apps were delivered by a food runner. The food? Ick. The guac is bland as is the salsa. The chips were greasy and chimis were so doughy and I think there was chicken in there?? Definitely a lot of cheese.
