Phenomenal food, little hole in the wall type restaurant but they are very passionate about their business. Birria tacos are the best!

The food I had from this restaurant was surprisingly good considering some of the reviews were questionable. I had the Carne Asada burrito as well as the Carne Asada quesadilla which were both delicious. Really fresh ingredients, flavorful beef a well balanced mixture of heat and spice. The quesadilla had a light and flaky crust to it. The Carne Asada was rich and flavorful as well. The delivery service was quick efficient and I got it all within the timeframe which it was suggested. But I've heard the ambience of the gas station... pretty good. Which is quite interesting but the food was really great and I certainly will consider to coming back again and ordering from this place. read more

I grew up in San Diego, where pretty much everyone has a favorite taco shop. Truth be told, the Carne Asada Burrito, and its close relative, the California Burrito, are prominent on the official City Seal. (Wink) Look for a Chevron station. Eh Guey Tacos is inside the Chevron station's building. No, really. Nice young lady taking my order had quite a time with my preferred addition to a California Burrito. (Basically a Carne Asada Burrito with potatoes and cheese.) I asked for some sour cream in the burrito. Never had any problems getting that done at several other taco shops, but, evidently, it was not something she had encountered. I also ordered some rolled tacos with guacamole. Service was quick, so I got my order and drove off. When I got home, the burrito was still nice and hot. The portion size was generous. Green salsa was way better than red. Plenty of meat, but it didn't taste seasoned at all. Just cooked on the flat top grill. Carne asada, at least for me, needs time in a marinade with oil, garlic, cilantro and a goodly amount of lime juice. Plus, NO SOUR CREAM. I opened the rolled tacos. Guess what? Sitting atop a pile of shredded lettuce and a sprinkle of cheese was a squirt of SOUR CREAM. All in all, the food was better than some places I've tried, but not nearly as good as others. I probably won't be going back. With the cost of fast food rising so high, I will be spending that money at a place like "Los Favaritos" on McDonald, just east of Hayden. read more

This is for their Toasty Breakfast Burritos ghost kitchen. Absolutely horrible experience. Our bagel was smashed, soggy, and didn't even have cream cheese. The burrito was also missing items I paid extra money for, and the tots inside hardly seemed cooked. It was all just mashed together. I've had bad experiences in the past, but this was the last straw. Never ordering breakfast from here again, and you shouldn't either. Take your money elsewhere. read more

We recently found ourselves further up North than usual- or should I say luckily! We were checking out a car for my sister, and needed to grab a quick bite to eat while getting some info prepared. We walked in, nothing particularly nice or special about the location, but the Eh Guey counter was located directly when we walked in. We took a few moments to assess all of our options, we went with the quesataco/birria taco plate and a chorizo breakfast burrito (breakfast past 12? - Yes, please and thank you!). It was 25 dollars after tip. They have two small booths towards the front of the gas station we sat at while we waited. Food was made to order and ready for us in about 5 minutes. It came in the wooed to go, but we opted to eat in one or the booths. The taco plate with four tacos, consume, limes and the breakfast burrito was a generous size. In addition they have two hot sauce/salsa bottles on the tray for dining in - which is exactly how I love it! Need some in every bite! The quesatacos were phenomenal and stole the show! The burrito was good, but all I could see is birria - love at first sight! The salsas were not my favorite, good enough flavor, just did not hit the mark for me, but honestly the tacos didn't really need it. Seating is available inside the gas station but most people do take out. We did take out and tried several tacos. All the tacos were very generous in size and were double shelled yellow corn tortillas that were lightly grilled and were made FRESH to order. The one taco that was way better than the rest was the pollo taco. It might be the BEST chicken taco around. It was moist, tender, very flavorful, and delicious. The second best taco was the shrimp taco. The shrimp seemed fresh and were prepared to perfection. The cabeza (we were told beef cheek) had a better flavor than the asada but was very fatty. The asada was chewy. The quesotaco was average and didn't come with consomme Rice and beans were average. You guuuys! We came here for the breakfast burritos and got them to go for a bachelor party and these bad boys are MASSIVE!! Literally one burrito is the size of my forearm! We bought 17 burritos for 15 of us and we ended up splitting each burrito in half and was able to eat burritos for the rest of the weekend which was insane! You definitely get what you paid for. The food is great on the rare occasion that they get your order correct. This would be 5 stars if the service wasn't so regularly awful. No matter what, you're guaranteed to order something and it will be incorrect. They also refuse to cook the fries properly. Even if you ask for them to be crispy, they will come out soggy. They have also got REALLY stingy with portions lately. Prices have gone up (like everything) but you're lucky to get even 1/3 of the meat that you used to. Don't be put off by the gas station. Soy chilango and let me tell you - this food is fresh, quality, delicious, tasty, and generous. The asada tacos were excellent - although they do need to pay attention to the order - I wanted only cilantro and onion and they gooped the guacamole on them - make no mistake the guac is delicious, but not in the taco! I have been talking El Guey "quesabirria" to my friends since I started eating their food. We usually do sit down meals when we get together, so it was a hard sell to get take-away food from a gas station. End result. They both loved it. HOW is some of the best food made in a little gas station kitchen? wow. Decided to stop and get some dinner on my way home, got the cabeza tacos, birria tacos, and a birria quesadilla. The quesadilla was crammed full of birria. My husband said the cabeza tacos were the best he's ever had, and especially delicious when dipped in the consomme that came with the birria. This awesome taco shop is located inside the Mobil gas station on the SW corner of 35th Ave and Union Hills. They have a pretty decent sized menu and good food. I've been here twice so far and haven't been disappointed. I usually order their carne asada tacos and the quesatacos. You definitely can't go wrong with either option. The meat is full of flavor and the tacos are just full of goodness. The quesatacos...oh dear sweet baby Jesus, the quesatacos with the birria jus on the side is just as amazing.
