This restaurant was highly recommended by friends so we stopped by for dinner. Our server was Brittiney, who was truly a delight, professional but charming and down to earth. The decor is fantastically on theme, from groovy paintings to the giant hanging mushrooms overhead. We decided to split an order of pretzel bites, 4 pepperoni rolls and one small White Whale pizza. The pretzel bites come with beer cheese and arrive covered in grated parmesan. These are dangerously poppable and the beer cheese was the perfect pairing. Beware, you may wear parmesan after eating these. The pepperoni rolls were tasty and appear to have huge rolled up slices of pepperoni inside, not small rounds. I wish they had been a bit crisper but well worth the pick. The white pizza (size small) was still much bigger than I mentally expected. It was good but not something either of us would order again. The onions and garlic were overpowering and the generous pilings of cheese were too rich for us. It was worth trying though, and may hit the spot for someone else. After paying for our check using a QR code, we sat for a moment fighting the impending carb coma, and Brittiney swung back by and gave me a full soda to go (I hadn't needed any refills). I was staying overnight in Atlanta and wanted a dinner spot with a good beer selection. I checked out the map and saw a Mellow Mushroom a couple blocks from my hotel. Great! MM always has a good selection of locals. Walked down to the restaurant, seated myself at the bar, and oh no, many taps were not operating! Well, there were a couple drafts that I liked so I ordered up a Tropicalia which was great. The Hopsecutionar was not so good, that line could use a little service. For dinner I picked the meatballs as an appetizer. These were really good. Very meaty, very flavorful, and plenty of sauce. I would get these again. I also ordered a calzone. I can't recall which one, probably sausage, but I can't confirm because their website is stupid. It is one of those websites that is designed only for you to order food, not to see what they actual sell organized in a list. Anyway, I remember that the calzone was good, properly cooked, and well stuffed. It could have used some more sauce for dipping, but I guess I could have asked for more. It was Friday Night and the family consensus was that we wanted to do a Pizza Night. As Pizza was the decision, it had to be good. After doing some digging on Yelp we ended up at Mellow Mushroom. The location is super convenient as it's in the heart of Midtown. There are a few street parking spots, however, there is a paid parking deck directly next to the restaurant. It's a win win. Unlike the usual 'pizza spot,' upon walking in there's a sign that says "Please Wait to be Seated!" It was at that moment, I knew this was going to be an experience. LoL. Taking in the environment, the ambiance is very chill and laid back. This is a great location for a low key night out with friends, family, or even a chill themed date night. Adding to the pleasant ambiance, the hostess was super nice and all smiles. He sat us immediately and made a great welcoming impression as it relates to the standards of service. Once seated, our waiter, Jesse came over and introduced himself. Along with welcoming us to Mellow Mushroom, he confirmed the number in our party and immediately took our drink orders. Again, a great representation of service. With such an assortment of menu items there is something for everyone and every craving. Naturally as it was family night out, we were all ready to order up the menu. LoL!! The Food: Pretzel Bites - Not your traditional pretzel bites. If you are looking for the hard outside and soft center, these are not them. These are homemade and have a full doughy profile. They put you in the mindset of a soft, chewy, pizza crust cut into bite size pieces. They are enjoyable if you are looking for a bread based app, however, if you have a taste for a traditional pretzel, this isn't the fix you need. Greek Salad - Everything on the salad was FRESH. Though I ordered the 'Lil' size it was more than enough. The Feta was amazing. The thinki sliced onions and peppers were amazing. And the highlight of the salad beyond the FRESH ingredients is the house dressing. OhMyGosh!!!! I'm talking robust, well seasoned, not too thick, not too runny, a perfect made dressing for a perfect made FRESH salad. Mighty Meat Pizza (M) - This pizza was everythingggggggggg. This is a go big or go home kind of pizza. Extra meaty. Extra flavorful. And, Extra good. The pizza has a traditional flavor profile, however, it is elevated by the Mellow Mushroom Crust. Not your typical flour dough. The MM crust is a different breed. According to their website, the crust stands apart from the rest as it has a distinctive sweet flavor and soft texture that starts with a dough made from five simple ingredients and mixed with single-source Appalachian spring water. Now listen, I've never had a crust made with Appalachian spring water, but babeeeeeeeeeee. It is GOOD!!! LoL!!! Cheesy, Meaty, and perfectly baked. Not only was my pizza amazing, but every pizza that came to the table was awesome. We ordered ahead because of a volleyball tournament. The food was ready on time and the service inside the restaurant was exceptional. We had a cookie replaced with an extra due to being out of what was ordered and extra sauce was provided on cue. The Parking: There's a parking deck close by and available street parking, but you'll have to pay for either. The Service: I've always ordered online and walked over to pick up. The Food: I've had their pizza and wings. The pizza I get is the Mighty Meaty, which is their version of a Meat Lovers. (Mellow red sauce base with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham and applewood smoked bacon.) This is honestly the least enjoyable pizza I've had in years. I ordered a medium, plain cheese, for delivery. I got a small pizza, which I suppose is a good thing given how awful it was. The only positive I can say is that the crust was cooked well. The cheese to crust ratio was way off, and maybe that explains why ​the cheese was so gummy. Traveled to Atlanta with family and close friends for the twins birthday celebration at the Georgia Aquarium and they wanted pizza for the food and fellowship. It was recommended we go the Mellow Mushroom near by , just 2 blocks away in walking distance. Had called ahead a week in advance to alert them of the size of our party . While there is no reservations, they informed that seating would not be a problem based on the time of our arrival. This was not the case however and while we were seated closely together the tables were not together and made for a disjointed fellowship. Fantastic menu and we landed on the "Mighty Meaty" pizza, large. which was loaded with savory toppings like pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham, and crispy bacon. The crust was really good.... crisp on the outside yet delightfully chewy inside. Not too much dough at all and the generous amount of toppings made every slice satisfying . When I placed the order for the pizza, I planned to pick it up at around 5:30. Since I was within walking distance of Mellow Mushroom, I decided to walk there. However, when I arrived, I realized that the address given for this location had directed me to the wrong side of the street. After finally finding the store an hour and a half later, I spoke with the staff, and they informed me this issue happens frequently. To make matters worse, my pizza wasn't even ready when I got there. Apparently, there was an issue with the online ordering system at this particular Mellow Mushroom; my order either wasn't in the system or the ticket hadn't printed out. The manager eventually found my order on the computer and placed it again. The only silver lining was that I got two hot pizzas instead of one that had been sitting out for an hour and a half. read more

Arrived about 1pm on a Saturday early May, busy due to short staff so ~20min wait in a restaurant only half full (not counting the upstairs which is closed). Once seated service was prompt, took about five minutes after drink water to get them, which is when we ordered food. Pizza arrived fresh and hot, really well-made and flavorful, crust has a really good chew. Soup didn't come till we're done with our pizza because they were out and they had to make some more. THIS is worth coming for, great melding of the mushrooms in the flavor profile, and the aged Wisconsin cheddar used in the soup really gave it a nice cheddar mouth feel...mmmmmmm. The ambience is colorful and fun, really nice mushroom sculptures in the ceiling above, everything gives an Alice in Wonderland type of feel. However, this place desperately needs a top down cleaning at least in the seating/restaurant area. The amount of dust on the light rails/fixtures, mushroom sculptures, air vents above you is just threatening to fall down onto your food. If it had, it would have been a free meal. (Its not gonna be cheap either b/c they'll need talk ladders and a 40' lift to do it, not to mention taping off the food prep areas to prevent dust drift when doing so) The food is great, service is friendly and they apologized for the wait on the soup. I would go back for the food. They have plenty of outdoor seating, which gives you an alternative place to eat your without worrying that giant clumps of dust bunnies are gonna rain down on your food. read more

What an experience that was. There was 11 of us that went here for lunch. Knowing that it was a large party, I knew it would take longer than usual for the service and the food. However - what I did not expect was non-existent service and wrong orders and no employees. There was basically one person who was taking the role as the host and also as the server during the lunch shift. Within the restaurant, there were maybe only 4 other tables. So let's say there's a total of about 30 people here dining in at the restaurant. It still takes a lot of time and effort to serve 30 people all on your own. The server took the drink orders relatively quickly; but after that we tried to order for the longest time and they took a good 25 minutes until they returned to take down the orders. The orders were pretty simple - not many customizations so I thought it would be a smooth dining experience. However, what happened after was bizarre. We waited about 45 minutes for the food to come out, and then one of the pizzas had toppings that someone never asked for, and then one of the salads were missing a main protein that they never asked to be removed, and then lastly - someone literally never got their order because the server forgot to place the order in the system. Overall, this entire experience took about a full 2 hours and although the food was good and I'd say was definitely satisfying - the lack of service and attention to detail was poor. The one order that was missing - they never even brought it out. Someone from our table had to go walk over to the front to ask for the food and they had us serve our own food. All in all - this place needs immediate help in terms of personnel and increase the headcount so they can be more efficient going forward. read more

Yum!!! Came here for lunch after spending the day in the city. My husband would travel to Atlanta often for work and always gushed about Mellow Mushroom. Being the pizza lover that I am, I just had to try it for myself. The place itself is very hip. Cool mushrooms hanging from the ceiling and lots of neon colors. Some staff have mask and some don't. Definitely a more chilled vibe. Our waiter was really nice and helpful as we navigated through the menu. We got a small cheese pizza for our kids, the cheese bread and wings for appetizer, and the great white pizza with pepperoni. I apologize in advance for no picture of the wings, but you have to understand they were amazing! There were no time for pictures once we got a bite. They were just that good. The cheesy garlic bread was delicious! Crunchy edges with just the right amount of cheese. Both pizza were great. The great white had these tomato's that bursted with flavor once you took a bite and out two little kept asking for more. I am a huge fan of anything that has my kids asking for seconds. Pizza is average. Sauce has not much flavor, however it is nice they offer the trio of mushrooms as a topping. The main reason for the low rating, they are deceitful. I ordered TOGO and was kind enough to still give a tip. I checked my credit card statement the following day and they ADDED on more money to the tip... What dishonest people. Dude, you know who you are, I called the CC company to take back the tip charges. You are on notice!
