Salchipapas with brisket - A large white plate contains French fries topped with shredded cheese, drizzled sauces, and shredded toppings, possibly including vegetables and meat. A small clear cup of sauce is placed on the side of the plate. The dish is served on a wooden table, and the fries are piled high, with various toppings covering the entire surface.

My husband and I stopped by the Southern Market for lunch and decided to eat here. I got an order of the salchipapas with brisket. I received a generous portion with my order. The brisket was delicious! My meal was very good. The picante they offered was very spicy.

A black, divided takeout container contains a salad with chopped lettuce, shredded chicken, and assorted vegetables. The salad appears partially eaten, with some dressing visible and a few pieces of food scattered around the container. The background shows a textured surface, possibly a table or floor.

I enjoyed this small shop inside the southern market. I ordered the Tacos with chicken, rice, lettuce, & chicken. The food was outstanding and id rate it a 8 out of 10. They are generous with the sauce, my only complaint is they could use more chicken but it was tasty. the service they provided was amazing. They also let me try their rice before purchasing. I'd recommend stopping by the market and trying out this small stand.

The second station we visited at Southern Lancaster food Hall. Laos/Columbian fusion drew us in-first time experiencing this one. Although a handful of offerings, they have a nice variety-from Arepas to Tacos and Hot Dog to name a few. The Gordo Hot Dog was more on the Columbian side. What makes this Hot dog special is the amount of toppings covering the Frank-Cole Slaw, crunchy onions, Mayo, Ketchup and Quail Egg. Nice appetizer that we shared and ingredients played well together. We also tried the Assazzin Sandwich. Grilled/seasoned chicken with hot sauce that gives it a nice kick. Similar to the Hot Dog had the Cole Slaw topping. One portion of hot sauce was slightly spicy and would go for two next time. Paired with a side of Fried Ride which was tasty. Service was friendly and checked in for food taste feedback. We were served by the Chef which was a nice touch. Unique flavor combos and fusion. Will be back to try other offerings.

Desiree's Plate (brisket) - A white plate contains shredded beef, vegetable curry with a yellowish sauce, and seasoned rice with herbs. The dish is served at Mekatos Eatery in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which offers Laotian and Colombian fusion cuisine. A fork and spoon are placed on the plate, and a black napkin is visible in the background.

Great service, fresh and absolutely delicious food! The broken rice has a great texture, the veggies perfectly steamed, the brisket was so tasty, and the spicy peanut sauce was fabulous - not too sweet like some people create. It was a very busy, First Friday at Southern Market, but the food was worth a short wait. There was a DJ playing that was a little loud but good music, and entertaining. The only seat we could find was a corner spot at Bar 1888.- perfect!Decent drinks & good service there too. We'll be back for more food.

a plate of food on a table - A hot dog topped with coleslaw, crispy fried strips, and sauces is presented on a rectangular white plate. The plate also includes a side salad of shredded lettuce and coleslaw, garnished with a yellow pepper strip. The dish is placed on a wooden table, with some crumbs and food remnants visible nearby.

My family and I drive to Lancaster for a day trip, we stopped here at Southern Market! Such a cute food hall place. Definitely had to try here because I am Laotian, hands down food was definitely DELICIOUS! I had the Nam Khao it's basically Lao rice salad and it had a kick of Colombian to it! It was AMAZING I ate the whole thing and their Jeow was on fire! My husband had their Gordo Hotdog he loved it! The owners super nice, would love to come here again when we're around!

A plate of fried chicken pieces, rice mixed with vegetables, and a side salad with lettuce, dressing, and a pickle spear is displayed on a table at Mekatos Eatery in Lancaster, PA. In the background, another dish with salad and a person wearing a denim jacket is visible. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment within a food hall.

We visited the stand inside Southern Market. We were doing our rounds to see what we wanted to eat, and the owner gave us a sample of the fried rice (Nam Khao). It was so delicious, and she was so nice, we both ended up getting our meals there, and we were not disappointed. I got the Nam Khao which came with chicken, cole slaw, and a salad. He got the tacos. 10/10 can't wait to go back. Definitely try the Nam Khao: it's Thai fusion with a nice coconut crunch.

Brisket Tacos - A white round plate contains three tacos filled with shredded lettuce and meat, topped with grated cheese. Accompanying the tacos are slices of pickled yellow vegetables and a serving of potato salad. The plate is placed on a wooden table, with a blurred background showing part of a vase with flowers.

Mekatos is my number one stop at southern markets. I go there every time I'm in the area. They have brisket tacos that are out of this world. The service is always super fast and they are a wonderful crew. They are in southern markets so the ambiance is always nice. They way that fuse foods together is something this is magical. I will continue eating at Makatos!!

Fried shrimp, nam khao and peanut sauce over veggies. I think it's called the desiree. YUM. - A white plate contains fried shrimp with a crispy coating, a portion of rice mixed with herbs and vegetables, and a vegetable stir-fry with sauce. Mango slices are placed on the side. The meal is served at Mekatos Eatery, a restaurant offering Laotian and Colombian cuisine, with a receipt visible in the background and a glass of water nearby.

Food: 5/5 jhol momo: was super fresh and flavorful. Best…read moremomos I've ever had! Selroti: for $1.50 it was worth a try! Slightly sweet and oily donut like texture. I thought it would be more crispy but it's more like a syrupy fried donut. Green onion naan: baked to perfection and they don't skimp out on the onions!! It's not really "stuffed", rather rolled into the dough. Goat curry: great portion size and very aromatic/authentic flavor dish. I wish there were some sort of vegetable to balance the meat but overall super delicious! Service 5/5: attentive and welcoming! They switched out dirty plates quickly and made sure our water was filled at all times Ambiance 5/5: great music and lighting! The table was a bit small for the size of the dishes. will definitely be back!!

I'm doing a little happy dance in my seat, humming and dancing, cause the Chicken Chili was a flavorful punch of savory and sweet heat. The chunks of chicken were perfectly tender, something many restaurants can't seem to accomplish - so props for DF for succeeding. An order of garlic naan, omg Good - pillowy, butter, fresh garlic LOVED it. This is when the meal begins to descent downward. My fried momo's arrived, though tasty, much smaller than the picture shown on the menu. I was served miniature momos, in my opinion. My hubby, always wanting to try something new, ordered a selroti - the picture showed a stack of four very large onion ring looking things and the menu read, deep fried sweet rice flour, crispy exterior, soft fluffy on the inside. My cuddly dudd socks are soft, fluffy; this interior was hard, chewy; I actually had to continuously chew on it for a few minutes, to get the momentum going, to soften this, whatever it was. And instead of four pieces, we received one (highly doubt my teeth could have handled three more rings). Lastly, my meal gave me a migraine; this was a first for me. When I heated up my leftovers, my migraine reappeared - very odd indeed.

The doubles? Exceptional. Soft, perfectly filled, and full of flavor. And the hot pepper sauce? Whew. It didn't just add heat, it elevated an already outstanding dish to another level. I ordered so many doubles I barely had room for anything else but I had to try the dhal and it was exactly what I needed. Comforting, rich, and done right. Everything tasted like true, authentic Trini food, the kind that makes you feel warm, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. I was literally craving it every single day for the rest of my Lancaster trip. The space itself is on the smaller side, but really cute and inviting. The service was great: friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience complete. Whether you're new to Trini food or already know what's up, Calaloo will not disappoint. Trust me, you'll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through!

Although she did…read morecheck-in with us regarding our appetizer, she was too preoccupied to check-in regarding our entree, due to her being the only staff in the dining area catering to 4 different tables; understandable but didn't leave us the opportunity to address our issues with the entree (which will be highlighted below) until we paid for our bill and came across someone else by happenstance. The aesthetics were elegant and on the dimmer side, especially if you're seating at the corner tables away from the light, we recommend sitting closer to the light or by the entrance if there's still light out. We really loved the crab croquettes appetizer, which had a perfectly crispy exterior that complimented perfectly with the moist interior mixture of potato and crab that paired very well with the aioli. The crispy potato that accompanied the NY strip was perfectly balanced as well, with the crispiest exterior that I ever had with a potato dish! Unfortunately that was the highlight to the entire dish, for the strip was extremely lean without any fat or marbling to help balance out the leanness of the steak (which is evident in the attached photos below). Usually a NY strip, even if grass fed, would still have a strip of fat on the outer layer, but ours did not have any at all, which you can see from all slices we've made. We weren't hoping for ribeye-quality fats at all, but just one that wasn't completely lean. The creamed spinach was also quite bitter and watery, which definitely diluted its creaminess unfortunately; you can see from the photo the wateriness in the creamed spinach where the cream began separating. We love their menu and the restaurant's elegant vibe, as well as how beautifully the food was presented, but unfortunately we were left disappointed by our main entree. I highly recommend their crab croquettes so please give that a try if you can, I promise you won't regret it! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

My children especially enjoyed their meals, which is always a plus. However, I did have an issue with my order. My meal came with fried rice for an additional $4, and I asked for chicken fried rice. The waitress ended up charging me for a full chicken fried rice entrée instead of a side. There was no clarification that the included fried rice could be white, fried, or brown, or that adding chicken would turn it into a separate, much more expensive item. As a result, my meal ended up costing nearly double just for adding chicken to the fried rice. When I brought it up, the response was simply "sorry," with no real resolution. Clear communication about menu options and pricing would have made a big difference in this experience.

I couldn't fight the sushi craving though so we relented and stopped in on the recommendation of a friend who's a regular here on con weekend. I had a basic combo of California roll, Salmon roll, and tuna roll with salad and husband had a Philly Roll and Eel Roll. Another home run! Sushi was fresh and delicious. Prepared in a good amount of time. We called an order in and in less than 30 min we had our food. Impressive again since this is a pretty popular stop during the weekend.

The single hostess actually seemed surprised to see anyone coming in. The restaurant wasn't dirty per se, but it was cluttered and dimly lit. A motor scooter was leaning up against a wall right inside the doorway. We were greeted with room temperature tap water served in small Styrofoam cups as an opener, very 'low rent', and as it turns out, a grim harbinger of things to come. Perhaps it was morbid curiosity that kept us in her chairs, but we ordered several items off the menu, including sushi, edamame, green seaweed salad, a soup, noodles, fried rice, and salt and a shrimp dish. All of this was served in to-go containers or on paper plates. I got what seemed to be the only drinking glass in the establishment when I asked for a soda with ice. We were given plastic utensils to eat with. The plastic utensils we were given turned out to be a non-issue. With the exception of the edamame, the food was so terrible that none of us endeavored to use those utensils much beyond the first few bites. The soup tasted old and burned, the sushi tasteless, the shrimp suspiciously soft. The noodles were covered with a watery, peanut-butter like substance but without the taste. The white rice placed on the table was clearly old. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. No one in my family could finish their meals. Update: My credit card statement from Sakura lists "88 Chinese Express" - the Chinese restaurant next door.... Is it possible that our orders placed in Sakura, a Japanese restaurant, were farmed out to a Chinese Take-out joint?! Wow!
