Mexican Roll.
Eric W.

I've gotten to eat here for the last few years while attending Zenkaikon at the Lancaster County Convention Center. This year I doubled up and ate here twice. Sakura is not a large restaurant but does have a decent amount of seating, if you have a group call ahead as during dinner I saw people who could not be seated. I was seated quickly for dinner and went with sushi. Picked three rolls that included Eel Avocado Roll, TNT Roll, and Fire Crunchy Roll. Eel Avocado was good as expected and the Fire Crunchy Roll had a unique flavor thanks to the Shrimp tempura. The TNT Roll was underwhelming as it was fried a little harder than I would have cared for. I stopped eating the outside of the roll at the end. Service was good for how busy Sakura was. The next day for lunch I intended to get some Issei Noodle, but they already had a 25 minute wait. Sakura was not busy at the time and went with more sushi. Waitress was lovely and saved me some money as two of the rolls I ordered are part of the Lunch special. Went with the Boston Roll, Philadelphia Roll, and Mexican Roll. Spring Roll that came with lunch was average. Boston Roll was almost a salad in a sushi roll, making it quite interesting. Philadelphia Roll was full of cream cheese and fish as expected. Mexican Roll has an interesting non spicy flavor that's hard to describe but was good. Over the years this place has really grown on me and I enjoy the sushi. Service has also gotten better and it was time to give Sakura a full five star review.

Shrimp shumai

Great sushi spot in downtown Lancaster. I've been here multiple times and it's a solid place. I've only ever ordered appetizers and sushi. I'd like to try some of the hot entrees before I'd give a 5th star. The shrimp shumai were tasty and the sushi rolls were good. Our server was kind and attentive.

Met friends here who live in Lancaster. We arrived around six and instantly got a table. Everything was clean and we had friendly service. Our waitress was great. Checked on our drinks multiple times and didn't chase us out when we lingered chatting. We all ordered sushi and beers. They don't have any on draft which I was sort of bummed about but I went for a Sapporo can. Service was five star but the meal itself was the 3 star. The sushi was decent, not the best, but not terrible. If I'm looking for sushi in Lancaster again I'll probably check out somewhere else since this was subpar to my normal sushi spot.

Sakura and snow white roll
Virginia Y.

This review is solely on delivery. The food came in about 45 mins. Not too shabby I suppose. I had the sakura roll and snow white roll. The sushi was really mediocre and incredibly overpriced for the quality I'm getting, the total was nearly 30 dollars for 2 rolls... The sakura roll was served with orange not lemon, there was barely any avocado and I didn't taste the wasabi mayo. The snow white roll wasn't wrapped in soybean paper, it was just regular seaweed. I think I'd stick to wasabi from now on when it comes to sushi.. atleast it's cheaper and the quality is about the same.

Excellent place for sushi, rolls, and other Japanese dishes. The Sushi dinner is a great deal and has plenty of food. The takeout pickup is safe and contact-free, and it was ready in 20 minutes! This is now our go-to sushi place.

Yeah. No rice in my takeout order :(

Disappointing this time. Inedible pad Thai with a random brown sauce and no peanuts. Drunken noodles with a tasteless brown sauce. The consistency needs some serious work. Definitely stick to the sushi, in my opinion. That has been the most consistently tasty.

Undoubtedly the best sushi in the area. Everything else is spectacular as well... Pad Thai, lo mein (a little spicy though - ask them to tone it down a little), sashimi, and hibachi. Order the edamame and some sake to start. If ordering sushi and it is crowded, be patient and receive quality. I recommend Million Dollar roll. Go there more than once and owners sure to remember you, your name, and ask updates on anything you discussed previous visit. Makes for great experiences.

Food: 5/5 jhol momo: was super fresh and flavorful. Best…read moremomos I've ever had! Selroti: for $1.50 it was worth a try! Slightly sweet and oily donut like texture. I thought it would be more crispy but it's more like a syrupy fried donut. Green onion naan: baked to perfection and they don't skimp out on the onions!! It's not really "stuffed", rather rolled into the dough. Goat curry: great portion size and very aromatic/authentic flavor dish. I wish there were some sort of vegetable to balance the meat but overall super delicious! Service 5/5: attentive and welcoming! They switched out dirty plates quickly and made sure our water was filled at all times Ambiance 5/5: great music and lighting! The table was a bit small for the size of the dishes. will definitely be back!!

I'm doing a little happy dance in my seat, humming and dancing, cause the Chicken Chili was a flavorful punch of savory and sweet heat. The chunks of chicken were perfectly tender, something many restaurants can't seem to accomplish - so props for DF for succeeding. An order of garlic naan, omg Good - pillowy, butter, fresh garlic LOVED it. This is when the meal begins to descent downward. My fried momo's arrived, though tasty, much smaller than the picture shown on the menu. I was served miniature momos, in my opinion. My hubby, always wanting to try something new, ordered a selroti - the picture showed a stack of four very large onion ring looking things and the menu read, deep fried sweet rice flour, crispy exterior, soft fluffy on the inside. My cuddly dudd socks are soft, fluffy; this interior was hard, chewy; I actually had to continuously chew on it for a few minutes, to get the momentum going, to soften this, whatever it was. And instead of four pieces, we received one (highly doubt my teeth could have handled three more rings). Lastly, my meal gave me a migraine; this was a first for me. When I heated up my leftovers, my migraine reappeared - very odd indeed.

The doubles? Exceptional. Soft, perfectly filled, and full of flavor. And the hot pepper sauce? Whew. It didn't just add heat, it elevated an already outstanding dish to another level. I ordered so many doubles I barely had room for anything else but I had to try the dhal and it was exactly what I needed. Comforting, rich, and done right. Everything tasted like true, authentic Trini food, the kind that makes you feel warm, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. I was literally craving it every single day for the rest of my Lancaster trip. The space itself is on the smaller side, but really cute and inviting. The service was great: friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience complete. Whether you're new to Trini food or already know what's up, Calaloo will not disappoint. Trust me, you'll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through!

Although she did…read morecheck-in with us regarding our appetizer, she was too preoccupied to check-in regarding our entree, due to her being the only staff in the dining area catering to 4 different tables; understandable but didn't leave us the opportunity to address our issues with the entree (which will be highlighted below) until we paid for our bill and came across someone else by happenstance. The aesthetics were elegant and on the dimmer side, especially if you're seating at the corner tables away from the light, we recommend sitting closer to the light or by the entrance if there's still light out. We really loved the crab croquettes appetizer, which had a perfectly crispy exterior that complimented perfectly with the moist interior mixture of potato and crab that paired very well with the aioli. The crispy potato that accompanied the NY strip was perfectly balanced as well, with the crispiest exterior that I ever had with a potato dish! Unfortunately that was the highlight to the entire dish, for the strip was extremely lean without any fat or marbling to help balance out the leanness of the steak (which is evident in the attached photos below). Usually a NY strip, even if grass fed, would still have a strip of fat on the outer layer, but ours did not have any at all, which you can see from all slices we've made. We weren't hoping for ribeye-quality fats at all, but just one that wasn't completely lean. The creamed spinach was also quite bitter and watery, which definitely diluted its creaminess unfortunately; you can see from the photo the wateriness in the creamed spinach where the cream began separating. We love their menu and the restaurant's elegant vibe, as well as how beautifully the food was presented, but unfortunately we were left disappointed by our main entree. I highly recommend their crab croquettes so please give that a try if you can, I promise you won't regret it! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Late afternoon, early dinner, it's not crowded, and no reservation is needed. I looked forward to the veggie spring rolls as an appetizer, but unfortunately, they were bland. My children especially enjoyed their meals, which is always a plus. However, I did have an issue with my order. My meal came with fried rice for an additional $4, and I asked for chicken fried rice. The waitress ended up charging me for a full chicken fried rice entrée instead of a side. There was no clarification that the included fried rice could be white, fried, or brown, or that adding chicken would turn it into a separate, much more expensive item. As a result, my meal ended up costing nearly double just for adding chicken to the fried rice. When I brought it up, the response was simply "sorry," with no real resolution. Clear communication about menu options and pricing would have made a big difference in this experience.
