I thought it would be more crispy but it's more like a syrupy fried donut. Green onion naan: baked to perfection and they don't skimp out on the onions!! It's not really "stuffed", rather rolled into the dough. Goat curry: great portion size and very aromatic/authentic flavor dish. I wish there were some sort of vegetable to balance the meat but overall super delicious! Service 5/5: attentive and welcoming! They switched out dirty plates quickly and made sure our water was filled at all times Ambiance 5/5: great music and lighting! The table was a bit small for the size of the dishes. will definitely be back!!

I'm doing a little happy dance in my seat, humming and dancing, cause the Chicken Chili was a flavorful punch of savory and sweet heat. The chunks of chicken were perfectly tender, something many restaurants can't seem to accomplish - so props for DF for succeeding. An order of garlic naan, omg Good - pillowy, butter, fresh garlic LOVED it. This is when the meal begins to descent downward. My fried momo's arrived, though tasty, much smaller than the picture shown on the menu. I was served miniature momos, in my opinion. My hubby, always wanting to try something new, ordered a selroti - the picture showed a stack of four very large onion ring looking things and the menu read, deep fried sweet rice flour, crispy exterior, soft fluffy on the inside. My cuddly dudd socks are soft, fluffy; this interior was hard, chewy; I actually had to continuously chew on it for a few minutes, to get the momentum going, to soften this, whatever it was. And instead of four pieces, we received one (highly doubt my teeth could have handled three more rings). Lastly, my meal gave me a migraine; this was a first for me. When I heated up my leftovers, my migraine reappeared - very odd indeed.

The doubles? Exceptional. Soft, perfectly filled, and full of flavor. And the hot pepper sauce? Whew. It didn't just add heat, it elevated an already outstanding dish to another level. I ordered so many doubles I barely had room for anything else but I had to try the dhal and it was exactly what I needed. Comforting, rich, and done right. Everything tasted like true, authentic Trini food, the kind that makes you feel warm, satisfied, and already thinking about your next visit. I was literally craving it every single day for the rest of my Lancaster trip. The space itself is on the smaller side, but really cute and inviting. The service was great: friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience complete. Whether you're new to Trini food or already know what's up, Calaloo will not disappoint. Trust me, you'll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I always order the coconut jerk chicken and am delighted be the Trinidadian/Asian fusion mix their menu provides. Specials rotate, which is so much fun. The staff are always friendly, helpful, and even my gluten-free mother can eat here. The food is consistently good and the spice levels are high, so take them seriously! Especially the pepper beef. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through!

It's a small space- very intimate and romantic. The staff was lovely throughout the entire evening. We ordered the duck pate, octopus, and croquettes to start. I can't remember the names of all the entrees but it hardly matters because everything was delicious. Whoever thinks french food can be boring needs to come here. It's BYO which is always a plus and it was surprisingly affordable, especially considering the quality of the food. I'd go back to Lancaster just to eat here again.

Although she did…read morecheck-in with us regarding our appetizer, she was too preoccupied to check-in regarding our entree, due to her being the only staff in the dining area catering to 4 different tables; understandable but didn't leave us the opportunity to address our issues with the entree (which will be highlighted below) until we paid for our bill and came across someone else by happenstance. The aesthetics were elegant and on the dimmer side, especially if you're seating at the corner tables away from the light, we recommend sitting closer to the light or by the entrance if there's still light out. We really loved the crab croquettes appetizer, which had a perfectly crispy exterior that complimented perfectly with the moist interior mixture of potato and crab that paired very well with the aioli. The crispy potato that accompanied the NY strip was perfectly balanced as well, with the crispiest exterior that I ever had with a potato dish! Unfortunately that was the highlight to the entire dish, for the strip was extremely lean without any fat or marbling to help balance out the leanness of the steak (which is evident in the attached photos below). Usually a NY strip, even if grass fed, would still have a strip of fat on the outer layer, but ours did not have any at all, which you can see from all slices we've made. We weren't hoping for ribeye-quality fats at all, but just one that wasn't completely lean. The creamed spinach was also quite bitter and watery, which definitely diluted its creaminess unfortunately; you can see from the photo the wateriness in the creamed spinach where the cream began separating. We love their menu and the restaurant's elegant vibe, as well as how beautifully the food was presented, but unfortunately we were left disappointed by our main entree. I highly recommend their crab croquettes so please give that a try if you can, I promise you won't regret it! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Late afternoon, early dinner, it's not crowded, and no reservation is needed. I looked forward to the veggie spring rolls as an appetizer, but unfortunately, they were bland. My hubby did order quite a few other appetizers that were excellent: edamame and dry-rub Northern-style spare ribs. Shareable sides: spicy but delish Kung Pao Brussels Sprouts. Veggies to share: asparagus My yummy entree: Sweet & Sour Chicken with fried rice. Our friendly and attentive server, Courtney, made our delivery experience enjoyable.

My children especially enjoyed their meals, which is always a plus. However, I did have an issue with my order. My meal came with fried rice for an additional $4, and I asked for chicken fried rice. The waitress ended up charging me for a full chicken fried rice entrée instead of a side. There was no clarification that the included fried rice could be white, fried, or brown, or that adding chicken would turn it into a separate, much more expensive item. As a result, my meal ended up costing nearly double just for adding chicken to the fried rice. When I brought it up, the response was simply "sorry," with no real resolution. Clear communication about menu options and pricing would have made a big difference in this experience.

I couldn't fight the sushi craving though so we relented and stopped in on the recommendation of a friend who's a regular here on con weekend. I had a basic combo of California roll, Salmon roll, and tuna roll with salad and husband had a Philly Roll and Eel Roll. Another home run! Sushi was fresh and delicious. Prepared in a good amount of time. We called an order in and in less than 30 min we had our food. Impressive again since this is a pretty popular stop during the weekend.

The single hostess actually seemed surprised to see anyone coming in. The restaurant wasn't dirty per se, but it was cluttered and dimly lit. A motor scooter was leaning up against a wall right inside the doorway. We were greeted with room temperature tap water served in small Styrofoam cups as an opener, very 'low rent', and as it turns out, a grim harbinger of things to come. Perhaps it was morbid curiosity that kept us in her chairs, but we ordered several items off the menu, including sushi, edamame, green seaweed salad, a soup, noodles, fried rice, and salt and a shrimp dish. All of this was served in to-go containers or on paper plates. I got what seemed to be the only drinking glass in the establishment when I asked for a soda with ice. We were given plastic utensils to eat with. The plastic utensils we were given turned out to be a non-issue. With the exception of the edamame, the food was so terrible that none of us endeavored to use those utensils much beyond the first few bites. The soup tasted old and burned, the sushi tasteless, the shrimp suspiciously soft. The noodles were covered with a watery, peanut-butter like substance but without the taste. The white rice placed on the table was clearly old. The fried rice was bland and tasteless. No one in my family could finish their meals. Update: My credit card statement from Sakura lists "88 Chinese Express" - the Chinese restaurant next door.... Is it possible that our orders placed in Sakura, a Japanese restaurant, were farmed out to a Chinese Take-out joint?! Wow!
