Not sure why these reviews mention the prices being the cheapest. Our prices were right under Greyhound prices so it was not dirt cheap either. Maybe after the pandemic, their prices have bumped. I can understand all of that. What I cannot understand is changing drivers in the middle of the road for a 4 hour bus ride btw NYC-DC, the road rage having, cursing, aggressive drivers, no announcement making staff, almost 1 hour delay coming back.... The 2 star is for relatively clean restroom & working outlets to charge our phones. Overall, there should be other affordable options with better reviews. read more

After waiting 2 hours and the bus not showing up, I emailed customer service and asked for a refund and was told that I could not be reimbursed for any of the over $400 I spent on my tickets. I do not recommend this service. The only option to change tickets is 3 hours before departure and that is of no assistance when your bus never shows up. No customer service is available after 5pm Friday and the tracker is not accurate so you are left stranded with no way of knowing if the bus is even coming. read more

Bus to NYC was 50 min. late getting to the White Marsh pickup. It was below freezing and windy, 29 degrees. Their tracking system could not find the bus. Consequently, we had to reschedule our restaurant reservation, run for our show, and rush the entire time due to the shortened stay. I wrote a letter of complaint asking for a refund and they said they cannot refund due to "traffic." I have a hunch there was more involved than just traffic, for the bus to be 50 min. late. We take Megabus from White Marsh MD to New York City regularly. While I'm sure one day we'll run into delays (because how can you not at some point on 95) so far we've had flawless experiences. The buses are clean and the seats are comfortable. They leave on time and so far have always arrived on time. They drop off midtown in NYC and it's easy to navigate from there. Parking in White Marsh is free and plentiful and I've never had problems with that as well. For the money definitely the cheapest and most hassle free way to get to NYC. read more

This was because a woman sat in our reserved "seats" that we payed extra for and the bus driver was very rude and informed us that he was not going to ask this woman to move to her actual assigned seat. He told us we were lucky to even be on the bus. He did not have the decency to open the trunk so we could put my baby's stroller. My husband that to carry the stroller to the top of the bus where we purchased the seats. He YELLED AT ME to seat meanwhile I had to get my son's things organized with the stroller because he told us to just get in the bus. Our bus was at 4:40am in the morning so we had a lot going on with everything and a baby, and there was NO understanding or an inch of empathy! We got there before it was time to leave. Mind I tell you that on the way back, the bus I purchased tickets for was late for ONE HOUR AND A HALF!! And we couldn't do anything about it!! On our way to NYC your driver had his radio SO ABSURDLY LOUD, this was a 4:40AM bus, he was TAPPING the dashboard like a DRUM, for the LONGEST time! He made a stop in the MIDDLE of a highway on a triangle shoulder, for over 10 minutes!! Honestly who doesn't like to pay a fair price to be driven a few states over when you don't have to worry about tolls, stopping for the restroom, and there are chargers on board...well if you don't like it I'll gladly take your seat! I have had all good experiences with Megabus. Normally I take the bus to New York but if I needed to go somewhere else I would look into it with them. There have been one driver in particular that is so funny and a stickler about a clean bathroom which I love! ( when I remember his name I will post it!) The bus fits a good amount of people and comes equip with seatbelts for your protection. There is plenty of leg room and they even have handicap rows as well that are labeled. Every seat has a charging area for you phone or whatever you may need. There are several windows all around just in case you want to look out or around. If you are one to like to be able to look out in front they do offer special seating that is a little up charge that you can choose when you are booking the ticket. If you happen to want to travel in a group they have group seating in fours on the first floor of the bus as well! Thus far the bus have been pretty clean. There's time there is some stuff around but that's the people that are riding because there are normally black trash bags hanging around different places on the bus. Time schedule are normally pretty accurate, meaning they normally get there on time. If your bus is suppose to leave at 430 and they happen to load up early they may just take off. That's my only gripe with them. It's not ok to take off early because some one may come at the last second and I feel they should have the opportunity to get on. When you try and tell and agent they either side with you or they tell you that you should have Arrived early. I have ran into the situation once but have witnessed it several times. I think fair is to wait at least until the actual departure time. If they could fix that and make it standard across the board then they easily get five stars! Here have been several times I have made it to my destination earlier then stated which who complains about that! All in all I think it's a great place to take a ride to your destination with no worries other than making sure you get there before it takes off! read more

Just to give the heads up on Megabus. I booked two round trip tickets from White Marsh to New York on 5-28-2022 for $139.47. I later came down with Covid and was unable to make the trip. I called Megabus and explained my situation and they told me no problem, they would issue a credit that would be good for one year. I tried to rebook on 4-30-2023 and was told that the credits had expired at the end of 2022. Be careful when booking because they advertise discounted tickets then when you try to book, they say there are no more available for that price but will book for full price. Then if you need to change the reservation, good luck! They will lie to you and later tell you "too Bad" Very poor business practices. I will never use Megabus in the future. read more

First our original bus time was canceled2 days before our trip. Then we rescheduled for an earlier time. Stood in line, in 28 deg temps for 20 minutes and no one told us it would be another 20 minutes, until a passenger asked. Then the bus was actually 50 minutes late from scheduled time. Then we get on to find people in our reserved seats. Evidently Megabus has double booked the seats. The attendant then got rude when a few people were upset about not getting their served ( paid extra for) seats. Yelling at them to just TAKE A SEAT!! They may be cheap, but I guess it's only a good deal when taking them off peak hours. During weekends, they're chronically late, and the customer service is totally absent. Last time I took them from New York to Baltimore-Washington DC, on a frigid Saturday morning. They tell you to show up at least 15 minutes before departure time. We get there, and wait shivering in the cold for 45 minutes, with nobody from the staff telling us what's going on. Eventually they board us, and the bus leaves 35 minutes late. No explanations, no apologies, nada. Today I took another one from Baltimore to New York. It was supposed to depart at 8:15am, but left at 9:07am. The White Marsh bus station is just a sign on a sidewalk, with no place to wait... and it feels like 7 degrees outside. Great job, guys. If you're a bus company, leaving and arriving to destination on time is essential. They consistently fail to achieve this. This trip was probably the most upsetting of my bus rides. My trip from New York to Baltimore started with the bus not having well working air conditioning. We were in the top of the bus and it was about just as hot as it would be outside! Later on it started to pour outside and then pour inside the bus! She told me to have a seat. After the bus had taken off I realized I was Washington,DC bound. I emailed support@megabus.com in regards to the situation referencing both the Baltimore to New York and New York to Baltimore. Not only did I end up at the wrong destination, but I also was unable to utilize the return trip as I never made it to New York. Smooth ride and on time. My husband and I took the mega bus on our day trip to NYC from White Marsh, Md. It is so relaxing and fast. We can slept most of the time since we took an early ride. The bus can go into the city by bus only lane which saved time. When parking at white marsh, park on the west side and print out the mega bus sign with license plate depart and return date then leave it in the dashboard of your car. Arrive 30 minutes early and get inline to get better seating Choose the seat that will stay in the shade by anticipating the travel time. Bring water, snack, foods if needed. The restroom is small and not the best. No water to wash hands, only hand sanitizer The line at 11th and 34th at can be long, so be prepared if it rains and look for the sign to your city. MegaBus is the cheapest way I've found to get to NYC from Baltimore. I've taken it 4-5 round trips. Cheap means you have to adjust your expectations accordingly. I'd say MegaBus is essentially like public transit in the developing world (except usually a little cleaner with nicer upholstery). That means it will sometimes be late, sometimes on time. Sometimes everything breaks down and you have to wait forever. No customer service or support. Temperature is unpredictable. Even the dispatchers don't have information. Seats are tiny. It is what it is. I expect this, thus I'm ambivalent. It's a roll of the dice. I do wish you could book a specific seat. I usually travel with my spouse and we rarely have luck sitting together. This is because the bus stops in DC first and so the bus is half full when it gets to Baltimore, and unlike airplanes where you can get people to switch an aisle seat for a different aisle seat, people on MegaBus seem to dig in and not want to move. I don't think we've ever gotten anyone to move. The DC riders will also put all their stuff on seats next to them or pretend to be asleep on two seats to encourage you to sit elsewhere so they get their own row. So riding from Baltimore, expect it to be frustrating. All this said, MegaBus is for a super flexible traveler who expects the worst and is pleasantly surprised if things go okay. I keep taking it because it's usually a 3-5 hour ride and it's easier and more affordable than dealing with a car in NYC. If I could afford Amtrak I would do that instead. But Amtrak can also be late so....shrug. read more

The ride up to NYC was so incredibly tumultuous that I was scared I would be projected out of my seat and into the air. They charge for seats post ticket purchase - so when the bus was mostly empty we moved to a more comfortable seat. Pick up from NYC was over an hour later than expected... when the bus did their one stop off in white marsh we sat and waited. The Driver tells all of us remaining passengers to "get off the bus- we're not going to Annapolis"...- Megabus- you have 20 people trying to get home to Annapolis ... @megabus The driver got her supervisor on the phone and he explained to me that we are waiting for a bus that is an hour behind us to come down - meet us in white marsh and lead the way to our final stop in Annapolis because the bus we're currently on is too tall to get to Annapolis- ie: if we go under an overpass we'd get stuck. This is the SAME bus we rode up on. The supervisor mentioned that our driver doesn't know how to get to Annapolis and that she doesn't have GPS capability. I don't fault the driver for her company doing a shotty job- I blame Megabus and their entire operation. This is f*%#ing ridiculous. At this point we will pull into our destination over 2 hours past our expected time of arrival. Finally, after 40 minutes of waiting- the driver approached me and asked if I could direct her the rest of the way to Annapolis. All of a sudden- the bus will fit. My first time taking Megabus traveling roundtrip from Baltimore to NYC. I too was prepared for the worst. My rating is based on arrival/departure, and appearance of the bus. On time for both trips. Get to the line early for preferred seating. "Do not arrive late for your bus". They check your confirmation, stow your luggage, and have you start sitting about 15 mins before departure. Seats are small, but I'm not a small gal and I was comfortable enough. Even managed to take naps both times. I was able to put my sizeable carry on in front of my seat between my feet without disturbing the person next to me. Do bring a jacket or small blanket, as the AC on the lower level is quite cold. The upstairs not as cold. Get to the line early for choice of seating. First trip I was early. Return trip from NYC back to Baltimore, I literally got to the bus "5"mins before it pulled off so I had to sit upstairs directly in front of staircase smelling the disinfectant for the toilet. At least it was pine scented. The line up area is outside so carry an umbrella or rain poncho because you're standing with no overhead coverage. My return trip was rainy, so I wore my poncho. If you have to travel on public transportation , as I did coming from visiting family in the Bronx, give your self extra traveling time because the walk from my subway stop was from 34 and 7th, and NYC streets are a frigging mile long. All in all for what you pay, this was a win win. I usually drive to NYC, but it was good to let someone else do that for me. My first experience was a good one. From the long lines I saw for other times and destinations, mega bus is a viable option for a lot of folks. read more

Hi, I'm the kind that never writes reviews but I had such a bad experience that can't hold it no more. I'm a customer of Megabus for 5 years and I think last Tuesday July 3rd was my last time. I took the bus from New York to Baltimore at 4:25 pm. I was sitting in the second floor and it was raining the bus had a hole top of my seat and water dropped all over me for 3 and half hour I was completely wet and had a wedding to go and went to wedding completely wet. After the trip I talked with the driver and he told me to call the customer service which I did and they told me to email here which I did it also but no one ever get back to me. So I called again July 7th at 9 p.m and the person on the phone so rude and hang up to phone on me. This is my first experience with Mega Bus. The Baltimore location is located near White Marsh Mall, at the Park and Ride. The Park and Ride signs are covered by foliage. Horrible experience - our driver apparently reached her daily limit while driving us to our destination, stopped for a new driver and no one was there. We waited 15 minutes, then she said she'll drive us a bit further herself and go meet the driver somewhere else on the way. I am writing on behalf of my friend Caroline Maguire to let you know that neither of us will be using your service ever again, and I'll be posting this review to all social media outlets, Yelp, Google, and anywhere else so that others can learn about the awful customer service you provide in the hopes that they choose alternative bus companies in the future. After you cancelled a bus reservation the same day as the trip in which my friend Caroline had to come meet me for a funeral, she was luckily able to book a reservation later in the day. After waiting for a rescheduled and now delayed bus at the White Marsh Mall stop in Baltimore, MD, on 4/21/17 at 7:25pm, she and another customer were kicked off the bus and told the bus was overbooked and there would be no seats for them. This is utterly unacceptable--if you are able to purchase a ticket with your service, you should be guaranteed a seat, ESPECIALLY after you cancelled her original trip at the last minute and forced her to miss an important family affair. She was left stranded alone in a parking lot as the bus driver drove away and another one was not going to come for over an hour. When speaking to your customer service on the phone 3 separate times tonight, she was told there was no "proof" the bus was overbooked and that a refund would not be possible. This is absurd and unprofessional if you really care about your customers. I'm not sure what kind of proof would even be possible--the fact that she re-purchased a ticket after you cancelled her original trip and showed up at the station, got on the bus, then was told to leave should be enough "evidence" for your company. It is insulting to demand anything else from her at this point. Not only that, but your customer service telephone line is obnoxious, insensitive, and hung up on her. I suggest you really revamp the way your employees are trained or I would not be surprised if more and more people switch off your service. I'm sorry to say that I've used your service plenty of times for my own trips and never had any issues, but there is NO WAY I will ever be booking with Megabus again after you treated her this way and caused this much havoc when she was relying on not just her original bus but the replacement bus to make it to Philadelphia in time. We booked 6 tickets under one booking and two of our party contracted covid and were not able to attend- since the tickets are non refundable but "transferrable" (not) we decided to move the two for a later date so we wouldnt loose the money. we kept explaining we wanted to move the two tickets but the agent refused since it was all under one booking and could only move all 6 or nothing but we would have to pay even more money to cover the difference. I was on the mega bus already and this was a fifteen minute rest stop for the passenger and driver...omg I was supposed to be in dc at 5:30pm not 7:00pm...where on the site does it say mega bus will make rest stops... When I first got on the bus the driver kept announcing this is an express bus going straight to washation dc...he stopped for a cigerate break and made a big annoument saying "does any one have smokes i can borrow"... really unprofessional !!! beside arrival time being late the driver... kept on announcing please no cell phone talking /music etc...while he was driving with the radio on...
