Several were pushed in and I assumed pushed down, so we could control the volume or power off the TV in fear that it wouldn't turn on. Since the TV wasn't old and wasn't totally broken we knew we weren't going to buy a new one. Unfortunately we were just out of warranty, and needed a repair man that could fix it fast. After a little bit of research on Yelp, Google, and Angie's List I sent a few emails and got some numbers to call in the morning. I connected with TonyMaxTV first thing in the morning, and since we were more concerned with the timing of this than the price I didn't really price out too many other options. It was $50 to have Tony come out and diagnose the problem, but that $50 could be put towards repairs if they were necessary, which seemed reasonable to me. Tony came to our apartment on Saturday. We had scheduled for 1pm, but Friday night he called to reschedule for 3pm. This wasn't a problem at all. He called us 15 minutes prior to his arrival on Saturday and was right on time. He was able to fix the buttons on the TV and tighten a loose HDMI port (the TV would lose the feed on occasion if you walked by it the right way). He was at our place for about 45 minutes. He was quick, efficient, clean and very, very courteous. The total cost for our repairs was $100 (including the initial $50 to come out). I've never had a TV repaired before so I can't really gauge the price, but it seems reasonable to have a $100 fix for nice flat screen TV. If we have any problems in the future with Televisions or Electronics in the house we will definitely use him. We recommend him to anyone else with problems. It's a lot better than investing in a new TV.

He removed the back cover with care and went through the power supply circuit identifying the two faulty transistors that had shorted. Just watching him in action gave the impression that he had repaired many such TVs before. He had parts on hand and he replaced them with care. His charges were extremely nominal considering he had traveled 25 miles and spent 3 hours fixing it. He gave me a paper invoice with 60 day warranty. The world needs more people like Tony. It took them about 2 days to do it, but they were able to salvage everything! To top it off, they also bought my 6 year old dead MacBook to use for parts and gave me a further discount from their already fair prices. EliteX are honest, well priced, and knowledgeable! I can't think of any reason to pay twice as much for "genius" service at the Apple Store. Plus Apple support told me my MacBook was antique so would cost extra to repair, if they could even do it - compared to EliteX who paid me for it!! I definitely should have came here first! Jeff looked at my laptop right away while I was sitting there. They tried to find the root of the issue and I was able to sit there and watch what was going on. He also was talking me through what he was doing and why he was doing it, which really put my nervous mind at ease. Their prices were very reasonable (although it sucks to pay $200 for a new laptop screen) and they called me when my laptop was going to take longer than originally expected to fix. They even stayed later than their office hours so that I could pick up my laptop after work. My HP laptop, on which I depend utterly, every day, for my firm*, suddenly developed all kinds of failure modes (first it would drop the WiFi; then it couldn't find the connections that were there; then it wouldn't boot at all) -- but they were intermittent (the very toughest to trace and fix). Grant, the genius-in-residence at this Harvard Square shop, had me fully operational, with a new WiFi board, and doubled the memory I used to have (now a full terabyte, yay), but w/ my old drive contents cloned (so the replacement would be seamless), all in less than 48 hours, and for less than $300 (before tax). I cannot understand critical reviews. He has always been friendly, incredibly responsive (same day--"bring it in"), and efficient. He is also mindful of costs/time and does not do work that is not necessary. For example, when my computer did not turn on, I called Grant and he told me about a 30 second fix that worked without my having to bring the laptop in. It is a great source of comfort to know that Grant is available to deal with the inevitable laptop problems in a manner that is friendly, timely and cost-effective. I recommend him enthusiastically.
