Wanted to see what all the hype was about. I ordered brisket plate and husband ordered pulled pork plate so we could share. The pork was fantastic but it arrived at the table cold along with most of our order including the brisket and the mashed potatoes. It took too long to get the order we placed. I am a sauce person so we may need to agree to disagree on the sauce selection. I didn't find one I liked and the mustard sauce burned my tongue. We will continue to go to our other barbecue place in Corunna because it is just as good and has adequate seating. Meat did not. It's small. They do turn and burn but when you eat dinner with a social butterfly like my husband it becomes distracting. We both agree they use a lot of MSG so if you are sensitive to that then stay away. I'm still chugging water and it's the next day. read more

This place is legit some of the best bbq I have ever had. The service is great and if you are a Star Wars fan, you will find a few items here that are cool. We got the chicken wings and this was my favorite. The smoke and the floor of the brine spices really shined through. I tried a few with their bbq sauces but stopped because it took away from what they were already doing. Also got their meat fries which were amazing. I mean amazing. My son got the meat mountain which is basically a ton of meat covered in cheese. That was out of this world as well. I got the brisket sandwich and just took it home because the amount of food we received for two people really could have fed 4. Run, don't walk to this place for great service, bbq that is wonderful, and quirky Star Wars stuff. Can't recommend enough. read more

What can I say - this was hands down some of the best BBQ I've had in my life! My girlfriend and I discovered this gem of a spot while on a road trip and we were not disappointed. The dining area is very well decorated with southern-themed items along with classic rock and heavy metal memorabilia. We decided to sit at the bar because there was a bit of wait for a table (impressive as it was 2:30PM on a Sunday). The food was next level - we split a nachos for an appetizer and split a beef brisket platter with jalapeno creamed corn and fries. Everything was well done and flavourful - I usually have to dump lots of sauce/ketchup on my food but these dishes didn't deserve to be soiled with condiments! This place deserves full marks for its service, atmosphere, decor and amazing food. The only "complaint" I could have with Meat is that when we got our change back, there was a Canadian dime in it. How dare they?! :) read more

I love their Disco fries + mac & cheese! Theres usually a wait so I prefer to order to go.

Chances Of Going Back: 5/5 Would Suggest To Others? Yes What I Ordered: Brisket Sandwich: 3.5/5 Murf's Tip: Try all of the sauces on your table. Each one is a little bit different than the others but all are great. (+) - Great Sauce - Fries Are Fantastic - Fairly Quick Table Service (-) - Very Long Lines (up to 1.5 hours at some points) We went to Meat for the first time and left impressed. We are not from the area so we looked all over Yelp for something worth trying. A friend suggested Meat, so we gave it a try. To start off, I have to admit that with the exception of a few places, I am typically not a fan of BBQ joints. I ordered the brisket sandwich which was pretty good. I was expecting more of a smoked taste to the meat, but overall it had a good taste and came out quickly. My only complaint about the sandwich itself was that they used shredded cheese, for some reason this threw me off. I thought the french fries were seasoned great and I may have enjoyed those (and other sides from the table) the most. I would 100% go back to Meat, but with such an interesting menu, I would order something different. read more

Food is exceptional. Staff is friendly. Not a large place, so get there before 4pm on a Saturday because there will be a wait. It is worth the wait, though. read more

Meat BBQ - Ceiling flags - Barbeque Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

Visiting from out of town and saw Meat featured on BTN's Campus Eats. Location is in a nice more historic area with (what appears) to be mostly local shops and about 10-15 minutes away from MSU campus. Street parking was free. Got the double heifer, father in law got smoked turkey, kids got burger and grilled cheese and mother in law got a pork sandwich. I was so fascinated with the double heifer (chopped and sliced brisket sandwich) I failed to catch what she ordered. BBQ was great, service was great, good selection of beers, VERY reasonable prices (about $5/print and $10-$12 per person, $5 for each kid menu item). The sandwiches were large and they gave plenty of french fries (the BBQ sides are a $2.25 up charge). If you don't mind fries, the sandwich looked to be best value. They also had a variety of BBQ sauces at each table (much better than some joints that limit how many of how much of each sauce you can get). In my younger years I would have tired their food challenges, $45 for a huge bbq sandwich monstrosity and huge side of mac and cheese. If you eat it will within time limit, it's free along with beer and shirt. Fail to do it and you are out $45. I would take a half star away because it's not a huge area as it looks like the kitchen is as large (maybe larger) than the dining area (8-10 tables), but some might like that is's nice and quaint and affords the servers better opportunity for service so it's a five star review for me. Came around 4pm and only two tables were full. By 5pm, there was a large line waiting for tables. IMO great option if you are visiting Lansing. read more

Food is great 95% of the time. Only had one bad experience. Server carried our straws under her armpit with a tank top on. Gross.... but food was excellent. So was the server other than that. read more

Found this place while attending a football game and it lived up to the hype I got the brisket and my son got the pork both were good . We also shared some wings and nachos they were both good also ! Wish we were closer since it was tough making a decision on what to order ! read more

Some of the best BBQ in Michigan! Absolutely delicious, but so popular that sometimes they run out of food! One of my favorites.

Consistently good food at a reasonable price. Never any mixups with orders. I appreciate that they offer a variety of sauces.

We were looking for a new place to eat in Lansing and found this place because of its exceptional YELP rating. It was crowded and had a wait but we were seated quickly and less time than they had told us when we put our name in. We tried the pickle fries and enjoyed them as an appetizer. We got the 1/2 rack of ribs and the meat plate with pork and brisket and both were good. Not best ever BBQ but good. Lots of food and probably should have split a meal. We both took home leftovers. Our server, Olive was exceptional and did a stellar job. read more

Delicious, creative menu with lots of options. I had the "trailer park brushetta" and "hot mess brisket sandwich". The brushetta was great, not sure why they call it brushetta since there's no tonatoes on it though. The brisket sandwich was so amazing, the meat had perfect texture... I can honestly say I've never seen so many bbq sandwich variations in just one place. Service was good too. read more

Decided to finally check out this place after seeing it featured on DD&D and was pleasantly surprised that my hour and a half drive from home was worth it. Service was awesome, shout out to our amazing server Becky who was super patient and informative and even consolidated our order to make it as affordable as possible because I wanted to try as many things as I could without breaking the bank. She was so genuinely attentive and nice I had to do this review to show my gratitude. Luckily The food was almost as good as the service. We had the lean brisket that was really tender, a half rack of ribs that was so tender and flavorful that it didn't even need any of the 6 sauces that were on the table but were brought to another level when I added a little, smoked chicken wings that were the perfect amount of smokiness and crispness. For sides we had the beans and coleslaw which weren't really that great to me unfortunately. I felt the beans needed a little more sweetness like some brown sugar and honey and the coleslaw just didn't wow me, but it was decent and had crunch. We also tried the nachos with pork and melted cheese on top and that was pretty good, even when it was cold (I barely got to eat anything because I was chasing my daughter around most of the time and had to entertain her outside). And we also had some parmesan garlic fries which I wasn't expecting to be baked with melted cheese, but I loved the flavor despite trying it when the cheese was already hard. Oh , I also got the brisket Rueben, but I can't say much about it because I barely had time to take a bite(due to chasing my daughter around) and my dad ended up eating it all when I got home so I'm assuming it was decent. Corn bread was decent also, more on the cakey moist side. Prices weren't too bad overall, I think it's worth it. Definitely check this place out of you're in the area. I know I'll be making a trip out there again so I can try more of their menu and get some ribs to go! read more

This is one of my favorite places. We have only been there twice but each time was wonderful. I love the variety. The dining area is sort of crowded but it's well worth it. My two favorites are the macaroni and cheese (with bacon of course) and the potato salad (it also has bacon) LOL. Great stuff. read more

My family was visiting MSU for a few days and we were checking out Preuss Pets. Wanted something good to eat for lunch to take on the road that was nearby and found this on yelp. I browsed the menu and ordered take two pulled pork sandwiches for take out. When I arrived, it was packed! A good sign. The sandwiches were delicious. I had it with the pickles and jalapeños and my wife had the regular version. The portion was large and the flavor was great. The price was very reasonable for the quality and quantity. The sandwich rates 4.5 stars among BBQ pulled pork i've tried. Definitely coming back here to try the other stuff next time I'm in Lansing. Very nice neighborhood. read more

I cannot possibly say enough about Meat. We've been here many times and the food has always been incredible. It's always on our list of places to take people when they visit Lansing. I highly recommend the pulled pork, and try ALL of the sauces. Really. All. Of. Them. Seasonal cocktails are really well done, especially the fall selections. Friendly service and very fast, even with the long waits (which is common because it's a rather small space- speaking of which, please expand or get another location! This place is too good to contain!) I'll never turn down an opportunity to visit, even with a wait. It's worth it. read more

Waited almost an hour for a table with my boyfriend but it was definitely well worth the wait. We were seated and almost immediately greeted and she took the time to explain how the menu worked for being the first timers we were. THE MAC & CHEESE IS AMAZING!!! read more

Pretty good BBQ. Honestly I don't eat meat that often but was craving a pulled pork sandwich and theirs was pretty satisfying. They also have great fries, and the beer mimosa was awesome. Loved all the pics of Guy Fieri hanging around the restaurant. read more

So good!! The brisket was heaven! And don't get me started on the Mac and cheese! Love!

Yum. Yum. Yum. I love this place. The meats are fantastic and the portions are huge. I also recommend the salt and vinegar fries. On my first visit here, I ordered them as an appetizer and with my meal because they sounded so good - they were great - but way too many fries! Now I just get them with my meal. I love the brisket and all of the burgers are great. This place fills up quick and because they have to prep their meats, it is possible they run out of things. Get there early if you can! read more

We had the disco fries and pickle fries for appetizers. Both were very good! We also had the smoked wings and those were excellent. The sauces they have to use for the wings are on the table and were also really good! My daughter and her friend had the build a burger and both were cooked medium as ordered. My friend had the chin gorilla sandwich with smoked turkey and that was great. The fries are also really good. We will definitely go back! read more

The good: Food was excellent and I admittedly not a huge BBQ fan, however I went with a larger group. The bad: My Bells Two Hearted tasted horrible, I had to struggle to drink it and even than I couldn't finish it. I suspect the tap is dirty. Why is it so difficult to clean taps regularly? Answer: it isn't, you just have to spend a little money and have attention to detail enough to recognize that it's a problem. The waitress also forgot the meal for one of the people in our party but to her credit she apologized and took it off the bill. So I won't count that against them totally. I welcome a response from the owners. read more

We were recommended this place by a friend and told it was the best restaurant in town. It was very good. We live in the south and this BBQ stands up well. Generous portions, good flavor. Our favorite part of the menu was the vegetarian section- it only listed drinks! read more

Meat BBQ - Rib platter - Barbeque Near Me - Lansing, Michigan

I would HIGHLY recommend this place. We went here to celebrate a friends birthday, and I was really impressed with their beer menu - lots of cool things to try! It might sound strange, but you MUST try the brussel sprouts. If I were to go back, I would order some of those again to take home! They were amazing! The service was good, and workers were friendly. read more

fantastic meat, but wasn't a fan of any of their six sauces. more of a bar vibe interior than a restaurant, get there early with time to spare. read more

Awesome food and drinks!! The mac n cheese was the best. The black magic bbq sauce could be used on everything! We will be back!

Best barbecue in town! Been there several times and they're consistently great! Also, they have decent beer selection.

Saw this place on Triple D and had to check it out when I was in the area. The place did not disappoint. Got the meat plate with pulled pork and smoked wings. The wings were some of the best I've had. The spicy cream corn was better than the beans but neither went to waste. Great service as well. Definitely going back the next time I'm in town. read more

Amazing food! Love this place! They have alot to chose from and you wont be disappointed. Sometimes they sell out of items so make sure to get there early! read more

The place is awesome! Right in the heart of old town! The place to go nuts! Love everything.

Pretty good as far as bbq in MI goes. I got the pulled pork with a side of fries and mac. Both were on point , I would have liked a little more smoke and crust on the pulled pork but it was late so they may not have had all the crispy bits left. The sauces they have are great as well, I recommend hot garlic. Fantastic decor in the place lots of old metal bands and such, and a great beer list. 100% will go back when I am in town next. read more

Meat was average, same as any mediocre BBQ. Mac n cheese was supposedly rated best in Michigan but I have NO idea how. Everyone at my table ordered it and not a single person even made a dent in it. It had no flavor, bad texture and looked like it came from KFC (but honestly, I would've preferred KFC). Positives: the cornbread was good and the meat fries were delicious! Which is why I gave as many stars as I did but all the sides were mediocre at best and the meat was unimpressive. I wouldn't come back unless I just got a drink and the meat fries or something. read more

Brisket is to die for! Their BBQ sauce is amazing too. Big portions, and plates can be easily split.

Love this place, I try to make it here every time I visit Lansing. Cool heavy metal theme and decorations. The smoked wings are great, nachos are great, ribs are great, sauces are great, beer on tap is great, I guess this place is great! read more

Excellent food and excellent service! Their homemade BBQ sauces are delicious and the "hot" BBQ sauce isn't too hot at all. Overall I would recommend eating here. read more

If I had posted a review for Meat during my first few experiences, it would only be 1/5. When it first opened, most dishes were sold out by 5:30 and customers were unabashedly turned away (every time I tried to go, at least). I gave Meat another try once the larger dining room opened, and was glad I did. The food is excellent, and hits the spot every time I'm in the mood for BBQ. The problem with most BBQ places is that side dishes are treated as unimportant aspects of the meal, but here the side dishes are just as great as the meat. My only wish is for them to start taking reservations! read more
