The atmosphere here is like walking into an Old Western bar that happens to sell bbq. The dark lighting very much has a candle light feel to it. I ordered the Logg Sampler Platter ($56). This comes with 4 meats, 4 sides, and 4 pieces of Cornbread. I got Pulled Pork, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and Ribs ($8 upcharge) for my meats. For the sides I got Mac N Cheese, Bbq Pit Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and Spicy Creamed Corn. Overall everything was good and well cooked. From best to least it was Ribs, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and then the Pulled Pork. I would get the ribs and brisket again, but probably pass on the wings and pulled pork. The Bbq beans were only okay, oddly enough as cold leftovers they were much better. The Mac N Cheese was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. The Mashed Potatoes were very good. The spicy Cream Corn was excellent, they weren't lying it has a spicy kick! Funny enough the best thing was the Cornbread. It was fantastic, some of the best I've had. The worst thing? The sauces. They all were not good at all. The most tolerable one is their regular sauce, still a c minus. The service was good, but I was asked how I was doing about a hundred times. Still everyone was friendly. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? If I was in Lansing then Yes. It is quality bbq cooked by someone with skill. I just might bring my own bbq sauce. read more

I got the meat plate with turkey and two sides: mac and cheese, and spicy creamed corn. I also added an additional side of the slaw. The mac and cheese was dry, with little to no cheese, and the creamed corn tasted almost sour. When reheating my leftovers the *next day*, I noticed the piece of cornbread that came with the plate had fungus/mold growing on it, so I had to toss the food. Great experience all around at Meat BBQ. Went on a Friday night at 6pm and the restaurant was full, but we were sat right away. It's also very nice that despite the place being full, it wasn't loud. They don't play background music that drowns out the conversation. It felt more relaxing that a typical dinner spot. Service was attentive and quick. Apps arrived within 10-15min of ordering and entrees were another 15 minutes after that. The show stopper here is the BBQ. The smoked chicken wings are some of the best wings we've ever had. The place was very busy but there was a place to get out of the rain. My party of 4 waited for about 25 minutes to be seated. Others were coming in for pickup orders, DoorDash orders, and each was taken care of in turn. My party was seated at a table off in a side room where the noise was greatly reduced and conducive for conversation. We ordered separate dishes, but my wife and I shared a pulled pork and fatty brisket. It was delicious with spicy sauces. My wife does not like spicy sauces so there was more for me. Hands-down, best barbecue in Michigan! They smoked wings are the best I've ever had. And I've had a lot. The ribs are amazing almost on par with Austin Texas. Their brisket melts in your mouth. They're sandwiches are absolute hogs. The staff is great and their tap lineup is top-notch. It's about a 35 to 40 minute drive for me to get here and I get here often because it's worth it . I had dinner here while in town with coworkers and it was okay. I ordered the nachos, the sizing was pretty big. The nachos themselves were okay, but you could tell it had been sitting there for a bit while everyone else meals were being prepared. We discovered this home to BBQ heaven a decade or so ago and stop here whenever we're passing through Lansing during business hours. They have, in my experience, the best BBQ anywhere. The bark on the brisket and pulled pork is heaven sent and the meat is always moist,never dry. (Many BBQ places are hit or miss in this respect.) There isn't a need for sauce because the meat is that good, but... the sauce is fantastic too. We bought a bottle of the coffee based Black Magic to take home. Their cherry bomb sauce is also delicious and delivers some heat. Sides are outstanding as well. The new BBQ salad (not sure about the name choice as there's no BBQ in it) is refreshing and packs a surprising kick. I'm not sure if the heat comes from the balsamic vinaigrette or the pickled onions, but the mix of spice with fresh avocados, greens, tomatoes, and apples is a great choice for a side. Their Mac and cheese and deviled potato salad never disappoint, Today's coleslaw could have used more dressing and salt, but was still tasty. Service has been superb on every visit, and sitting amidst 80s metal band posters and tapestries takes me back to simpler times in life when the things that mattered most were family, friends, and music. I stopped by here for lunch after getting local recommendations and seeing the reviews. I had a brief wait to be seated. I ordered the lean brisket with cornbread and 2 sides which were the macaroni and cheese and pit beans. The brisket comes naked, was made perfectly and was excellent. The macaroni and cheese was lumpy and average along with the pit beans tasting more like chili. The cornbread was fine. None of the 6 sauces available knocked it out of the park. We had so much fun here with a group of five of us on a random Saturday. Get there early because it is clearly a popular place (deservedly so). Our food was fantastic... the ribs, brisket, nachos and sausage were amazing. Don't forget to ask about their special sauces - cherry Vernors and Asian BBQ were both of our favorites. The sides were great as well... BBQ beans and Mac and Cheese were our favorites, the coleslaw was not worth trying though. The brisket (fatty cut), on the other hand, was much fattier than others I've ordered from other restaurants...so that was kind of disappointing. As for sides, the mac & cheese was good, but nothing extraordinary. Pretty run of the mill. I did enjoy the creamed corn, which had a bit of a kick and was rich, creamy, and delicious. The corn bread was baked perfectly and wasn't dry at all. Service was good, they gave us a new menu (which was a QR code on a sheet) because the one on our table was dirty. We went to Meat BBQ after a certain Vietnamese/BBQ place a couple of blocks away decided to reduce their opening hours and neither Yelp nor Google had updated the hours yet. We were a bit dejected after not having the opportunity to eat our first choice, but after going to Meat BBQ, we forgot all about it. Pork Belly Reuben ($14.95) - The sandwiches come with either fries or slaw - we went with the fries. These were normal, thinner, food service fries, crisped well, with a fluffy interior and generously seasoned with salt and pepper. The sandwich has a slice of fatty pork belly on top of a lean brisket, covered with a nice 1000 Island type sauce, and on top of a perfectly portioned amount of tangy sauerkraut. Everything is served on a crispy cheese crusted, upside down pumpernickel bun. The flavor and textures meld together perfectly. This was a great sandwich. Beef Brisket (Fatty) Meat Plate ($19.95) - This was a thick sliced piece, half consisting of perfectly juicy, tender, and fatty brisket, combined with a more lean, but still delicious brisket. This is some of the best brisket I've had in Michigan. Still, there are some things that could be improved - the smoke ring wasn't the best I've seen and the smokiness was a bit muted. The plate comes with a piece of corn bread and two sides. We chose the Mac and Cheese and the Spicy Cream Corn. The former is a decadently creamy and cheesy sauce mixed with cavatappi. The latter is a really nice peppery and spicy thick cream sauce with corn. The corn bread was cold to the touch - like it came straight out of the fridge. It was soft and moist and quite sweet. Not my favorite corn bread, but still a good complement. There are several sauces available at the table with a card explaining the flavor profile and ingredients. There are several more upon special request as well if you would like (including one that is extremely spicy). Our favorite was the Black Magic. The Vin #666 tastes quite comparable to an Eastern NC-style vinegar mop, possibly with a bit more sugar and a bit more of the acidity coming from hot sauce rather than apple cider vinegar. We were so impressed with the Vin #666 that we actually went back to Meat BBQ a couple of days later to try the pulled pork: Pulled Pork Meat Place ($17.95) - I was very impressed with the pulled pork - they pre-sauce the meat with just enough Vinn #666 to give additional moistness and flavor to the meat, just like how a place in NC would do it. There were fatty bits mixed up with leaner bits and a nice smoke ring - really the only thing missing is a bit of crispy pork skin for textural contrast, but that's hard to get outside of whole hog bbq. This is honestly the best pulled pork I've had outside of North Carolina. The sides this time were the BBQ Pit Beans and the Smoked Broccoli Salad. The beans are mixed with beef and aren't anything particularly special but delicious nonetheless. The broccoli salad has slightly smoky broccoli, shredded cheddar, tomato, onion, carrot, and sunflower seeds mixed in a slightly sweet mayo-like dressing. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Lansing. read more

During covid I got really into watching Diners, Drives and Dives reruns. After I discovered there was a few locations in Michigan, I made a point to check them out. I adore meat bbq. It's in a nice location in old lansing art district, and there's extra shopping on the street. The crown gem? The food. Oooh the food. I'm not even huge on bbq, but I love this place. My suggestions are the smoked wings (with the garlic bbq and the Carolina bbq) anything with the pulled chicken (but the hot mess and chin gorilla and my favorites) and the meat fries. If I could have one meal a day.. it would be the meat fries. Why are they so good?!! This place does get busy, so romos tip is try earlier in the day, or prepare for a bit of a wait. read more

Your typical BBQ spot. It's a big space decided in several sections. Music is usually heavy metal, primarily Iron Maiden. Lots of artists work decorate the walls. If you want my personal recommendations, the trailer park bruschetta is absolutely delicious. The ribs were nice and tender and the brisket and pulled pork are simply outstanding, you can't go wrong. Our first time in Lansing for a wedding, we were looking for food and found this place on chat GPT. It was a little difficult to find what we can eat since we do not eat pork, beef or many fried foods. Compared to Alabama the price was very fair and the quality was exceptional! The bartender, Lydia, was out waitress and she is a BEAST!!! She handled the entire bar and roughly 3-5 tables at the same time and she did it with excellent service and recommendations.
