Best and cheapest hot wings available nowadays. Most places charge like $2 per wing, Dicky's has better prices AND Carolina BBQ sauce

So the space is cute, and has a great funky vibe, in old town / North side of Lansing. Easy street parking. We had reservations, and there were a few folks at the entrance. We went in on a chilly MI morning, and patiently waited. However we were told to go back outside as there was no room for us to wait there. Ignoring the fact that several people came after us, we none the less went back outside and waited several minutes. Thankfully we had coats in the car. Once sat, the tables were tiny - how do you fit four people at 4x4 table? Good thing we are all good friends! Coffees all around, and loved the different mugs. Its like they raided Goodwill and got all the weird mugs - nice touch! Unfortunately the coffee that filled those? Atrocious. Bitter, burnt, and required so much cream to choke it down . . . Now I admit I am a coffee snob coming from Seattle, but this was BAAAAAAD. Never the less, we soldiered on. The menu looked promising and my wife and I decided go opposite directions. Her sweet and me savory. I went with the Music City hangover - a great unusual combo that was flavorful but far from "hot" other than measured temperature degrees in Fahrenheit! Nicely prepared chicken but more salty and bland. My wife hit the flapjacks, and they were good but non-traditional. HEavy, almost cake like. Good in their own way, though. Our friends dove into a couple of breakfast tacos (looked decent) and then an odd slop of a meal called trailer tots. Approporiately named, it looked like a hot mess. The pricing was outstanding - but like with all things when we return home, everything is cheaper than Seattle. Overall, we left full, but unsatisfied . . . And then went to find coffee!

I have enjoyed Dagwood's for nearly 60 years. Big time, baby!! In those 58 years, the exterior has not changed except for a patio on the back side. The men's room is really small; much like Texaz Grill in Phoenix!! No door on the toilet stall to this day. Seating area has same setup; booths and tables appear to have been replaced over those years. Dagwood's offers 10 or more draft beers today. The classic MIchelob is absent. I had ham and bean soup, cheeseburger and fries. The soup is homemade and just what I wanted. Burgers are all smash-style; cooked to order and still juicy. To me, the fries are the hit; hand-cut fresh potatoes fried to order and great! Saturday afternoon was a little spotty but they got the job done. Dagwood's is a classic college dive bar with good food cooked behind the bar for all customers to see.

Fresh meat, flat top grill that has been well seasoned over decades (I'm assuming it's not new) of use. I think one of the reasons I've been so thrilled with the recent smash burger uprising is because they remind me so much of these style of pub burgers. Coming back 30 years later, I can't say that much has changed. The burger was still delicious, the service was still solid and if you love dive bars and old classic pubs as much as I do, the decor was solid and pleasing. You get what you see here, there is nothing fancy, but everything is great. If you love burgers (or wings which are also yummy but drumstick style) this is an absolutely underrated spot to get a basic bacon cheeseburger and fries. As you can imagine, they have a good selection of beer and liquor along with tradtional pop. Can't wait to come back and get another burger soon.
