Very affordable dine-in restaurant in this economy of 2025 :) The food is not outstanding but it does the job of a quick, fresh and cheap dinner. don't expect any ambiance in this restaurant either.
Eh. It was okay. We eat Vietnamese a lot. Like a LOT. So I may be a tough sell. Edamame was fine. Just had table salt on it. Eggrolls: fine Vermicelli bowl: meat was a little chewy, but the veg was fresh. Chili oil: not spicy or too flavorful. Pho: broth was good! And a nice portion. Service: lovely and felt like home. Overall: it was easy and fed us. Would I travel for it? No. Would I go back when I'm hungry and I'm a block away? Yes.
First off carrots in egg drop soup should be a criminal offense. All I could taste were the carrots, had to trash it. The egg foo young had some weird ass watery sweet gravy that really pissed me off as well. They don't include any condiments or utensils (thank goodness I was home and had some amino acid) definitely won't be back here unless I prepare the gravy myself and just don't feel like making the egg foo young. The stars are for the fast service, portions and price.
I was blown away by this dish!! I'm not sure if it's a traditional item or region specific in vietnam but I've never had it before. It was basically like a chicken stew. If you know what Singaporean laksa is, this dish really reminded me of it. The soup was rich, flavorful, sweet, but specifically savory. It was be great paired with some French baguette as well. I didn't particularly like the soft chicken in it but that's a personal preference. There were no bone or tendon/ligament pieces although it was very obviously cooked with chicken thighs. The service was impeccable. They are polite and prompt. Clean without the scent and ambiance it straight to the point! Would recommend for a casual meal or date night? Or even a work day lunch break. I really enjoyed it and will have a tough time deciding between this dish and the other unique ones not frequently seen down in Vietnamese restaurants in this area!!
Another great experience from Me Con Bistro. These (photo) are the best spring rolls I've ever had. They are grilled shrimp. The presentation was excellent, the service was great, the dining room looked very clean, nice, and inviting (I picked up to go). The spring rolls were so lovely, I had to snap a photo. I also had the Basil Fried Rice with tofu and broccoli. Everything was delicious!
Having explored multiple Vietnamese restaurants in Austin, I've found my go-to places for pho and a few other dishes. However, I've been on a hunt for a spot that serves traditional Cơm Thịt Nướng (Vietnamese Grilled Pork with rice)--and I'm happy to say, I may have found the one in Austin. I'm pretty particular about what I want at restaurants. While I enjoy a good banh mi taco every now and then, I primarily crave something more traditional that reminds me of my childhood. Me Con fits the bill perfectly. The space is clean and modern, and the server actually understood the given Vietnamese names for the dishes I was ordering--a rare and appreciated touch. While the reviews on Yelp don't do the pho justice, the rice dishes are what won me over. Don't skip adding an egg on the Grilled Pork with rice, it's the perfect finishing touch. I also had the Me Con Fried Rice, which comes with Chinese sausage & Char Siu pork. The flavors were spot-on, though I wish the pieces of sausage and pork were larger. Overall, I'm thrilled to have found Me Con and will definitely be coming back. I'm as happy as a clam!
This is a hidden gem nestled into a strip mall. Do not be tempted by the Taco Bell in front of it, far better things lie ahead. The decor and location may be unassuming, but the lack of grandour is made up for in the authentic flavors of the food. The Hong Kong Noodles are absolutely noodles are absolutely delicious. I could honestly have the chicken pho broth by itself and be perfectly happy with my lunch selection. The Me Con fried rice was a healthy portion and was just so good. We will definitely be coming back!
I ordered the food to go. First time trying this place. I do have to say the bao steamed buns were delicious. I would definitely get it again. As for the shrimp kimchi fried rice. It was okay, I wouldn't get it again. I am going to try other items and see how they are. I'll update my review when I do order again. I would recommend this place.
We tried this restaurant first the first time last week. We finally had some fall-like weather and wanted pho! The potstickers were 5 stars! SO good!! Some of the best I've had. So fresh and flavorful. I can't wait to get them again. The pho was 4 stars. Your typical pho but as soon as the warm broth hits the noodles and protein it gets cold fast. The flavors are all there. U the option of getting free "extras". That's a bonus! You just need to reheat once you combine everything. I ordered online and picking up to-go. The restaurants seems small but they were busy at lunch time. The employees seemed friendly during my little time there. I can't wait to try this restaurant again!
This place has the best Vietnamese food in all of the hill country. Even thought the picture I am going to post is a Chinese dish. But the vermicelli is a 10/10 along with the Saigon egg rolls. I never have to wait longer than 10 months for my food. The staff is very attentive and on point with service. My son enjoys the fish tank as we walk in he restaurant that has a great view of William cannon.
Small restaurant, nothing fancy but the food was delicious! Everything freshly made. Although it was pretty busy the staff was still attentive.
Came here to satisfy my Vietnamese food craving. The interior is clean, simple and cozy. There are QR codes all over the restaurant to view the menu. I had done my research ahead of time. My take out order was taken immediately and the items were delivered just as quickly. Friendly, attentive service. I ordered the Saigon egg rolls and The Works bun. Both were delicious and quite filling. I'll definitely visit again when craving egg rolls!
We were actually on the way to a different restaurant because my kiddo was interested in getting a vermicelli bowl when my wife saw the sign for Me Con. We decided it was closer and we'd try it out. The service was great. The waiter was very nice and super helpful. I always ask what the specialty is of the house and he responded with "most people enjoy the...." So we ordered a vermicelli bowl, crab Rangoon and a General's Chicken so we could have a little variety sample on the table. The crab Rangoon had a nice crisp and a delicious flavor. The General's chicken was mine. A solid and tasty option. Nothing really special or spicy about it so I added the chili... but it was... fine. The vermicelli bowl was pretty tasty. The chili/fish oil was delicious. The noodles seemed a little thick, but the consistency and flavor was there. To each their own. Nice and clean atmosphere and really pleasant folks working there. I will likely be back. Good basic Pan Asian faire.

Food was good, service was good. Qr codes used for most up to date menu. Appetisers were also good. I'd go there again. Thai ice coffee was tasty. Place is tucked into a corner, but easy to find. Medium size crowd lots of to-go orders and vendor delivery orders. So it's popular. Apps, food and drink for 2 around 45$ including gratuity. read more
We ordered takeout from this nearby vietnamese restaurant. The process was easy over the phone and it was ready for pickup in a reasonable amount of time , less than 30 min. We got: Spring rolls: i always end up getting this as a relatively healthy appetizer. While it was good, i would not say it's the best I've had.. but that wouldn't stop me from getting it again! Sesame chicken: the right amount of crunchiness and packs a lot of flavor! Vermicelli: similarly to the spring rolls, this was good but not the best I've had. I'm glad it's nearby though because I do love these vermicelli dishes for something light and tasty! Overall a solid place for vietnamese food by if you're in the area, but i feel like it lacks some options that I'd find at other vietnamese restaurants. read more
I have been to Me Con Bistro a few times and have enjoyed the food. The service staff have been efficient and friendly. And the the restaurant appeared clean. However this last visit was as before EXCEPT the "extra protein" in my order. I liked this restaurant but will not be returning if sanitation is an issue. "I'm sorry" is not enough for me to return to this establishment again. read more

In a little shopping center, you walk in the door to face a gorgeous aquarium - beautiful waving coral, kelp? and multi colored fish. Then it is a pretty plain dining area with a counter in front of the kitchen. But let me tell you their food is good. We both had the Egg Drop Soup. Yum! I added a little soy to mine but my wife did not want to mess it up. She had the General Tso's Chicken. She LOVED it. I tasted it and it was profoundly delicious! and the serving was so ample, she needed a To-Go box. I had the Szechuan Beef. I like it spicy so I added red chile and ate every morsel. I wanted to lick my plate! The beef was so tender you could easily bite an ample morsel off the chop sticks The veggies were cooked just enough to retain their raw color and still have a little crunch. My steamed rice was perfect-just sticky enough to use chop sticks. I ate every kernal. Our server didn't have much of a smile, but Robert provided EXCELLENT service without hovering. He catered to our requests for hot mustard and sweet sauce for our crispy egg rolls. And he immediately provided the chile and soy sauce I requested. I wanted to thank Mama, but she was so busy cooking for the full house, she couldn't take the time to leave her kitchen. Hmm. Guess that explains how our food came so quickly. We WILL be going back. Their menu is so extensive with Chinese, Vietnamese, Pho, and even curry, we'll have to go back many times to sample only those dishes we prefer. Give 'em a try. It is REAL. And REAL GOOD! read more
Giving Me Con Bistro a 4/5 - nowhere near the quality back home in Little Saigon, but not bad by any means for Austin, Texas! Came hear with some friends post-golf sesh. We ordered: * Egg Drop Soup 3/5 Kind of bland; needed salt and the veggies were still frozen or felt hard like when you just heat up your instant noodle ramen and it hasn't soaked long enough in the hot water * Grilled Chicken Steamed Bao Buns 4/5 Interesting fusion take. Aioli was pretty good! No complaints here. * Vermicelli w/Beef (Bun) 4/5 Not bad at all - would order this again. * Crispy Duck 4/5 Again, not bad by any means. They served it with Fish Sauce. Have had better, but again - not bad for Austin! Overall, it was a solid meal. I will go try some more Vietnamese Cuisine and then compare the 2 - would come back here again. read more

Several of the dishes have a tofu option, such as the stir fries, curries, etc., however, the restaurant mentioned that they are made with oyster sauce and could not be made vegetarian... There are a few vegetarian options but nothing mind blowing. Think they should find a way to make stir fries and other dishes that have a tofu option vegetarian - it is 2024 and we are in Austin. read more

Met Rooster's mama for a recent lunch drop off. She had dined here previously and highly recommended it. Based on that, I started with the Bao Buns. The pork really packed an amazing punch with the spicy mayo, cilantro, and veggies. Ex and I haven't changed our dining ways much. Two more apps ordered. Food brothers from another mother in the form of springs rolls and egg rolls. Excellent dipping sauces on both dishes. Better than average average peanut sauce. Kiddo even at half of a non fried spring rolls for a change! Jenny went with her previous fave Hong Kong noodles while I tackled the General Tso's lunch option. Only complaint of the entire meal is the fried rice was a bit plain and lacked vegetable and seasoning. Above average egg drop too. Worthy of another trip for the apps alone. read more
Very good meal! We split the Cashew Chicken with Rice, got egg rolls and Crab Rangoon, green tea and Jasmine Tea. Enjoyed it all. Always looking for good Chinese type food, this is Vietnamese with lots of great voices! Love the Pho, and variety of soups etc read more
I love Vietnamese food and haven't had it recently because I don't have a consistently great place nearby. A friend of mine recommended this place and I went there for lunch today. The first thing I noticed was an exceptionally clean and tidy restaurant, which is somewhat unusual for some of the Vietnamese Restaurants that I've eaten at. Service was good and my waitress Diana was very nice and friendly too. I had a grilled pork vermicelli bowl and was happy to get the veggies on the side as I don't like cucumber and sprouts. The pork was delicious! Grilled just perfectly. Not one bit of fat or grizzle and very tasty. The noodles and fish sauce were great too. The veggies on the side were obviously fresh and nicely cut. It was an exceptionally tasty bowl. I had an iced Vietnamese Coffee as well and it too was perfect. Just the right amount of condensed milk to make it just the way I like it. This place was pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon and rightly so. I'll be adding my person to their regular customer list immediately. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE, COCKROACH IN FOOD. We ordered from here this past Friday and unboxed our Lo Mein only to find a cockroach inside!! Absolutely disgusting and we will be reporting to the state health authority read more

Despite this summer heat, I was craving some pho. Typically enjoyed as a dish to warm one up, it was a sure a delight to have today in this weather. I got the steak pho in the beef broth. The broth was very flavorful and delicious. It really clears up your senses and makes you feel warm inside. The steak was also good but I felt overall there was something missing in the dish that took away its 5 star. The service was very nice and polite and for the price ($12.50) it was pretty good. I would certainly go here again and try many more dishes from this place. I am so glad that there is a place to enjoy pho here in south Austin, especially on Brodie. read more

I love the ambiance here. It's cozy and quiet. You don't have to yell to have a conversation. Besides the Pho, I've had the Kimchi Fried Rice, which both were amazing. Their service is great. Always attentive and helpful. They also have reasonably priced drink selection. read more
This was a delivery order. The hot and sour soup was ok but I'll try something else next time. The crab Rangoon was good but the sauce was not. General Tso was generous and delish. I ordered spicy but will try it hotter next time. The fried bananas were delicious. The peanuts and sauce were excellent. I have plenty left for a second meal. The order came much quicker than the estimated time. Experience overall was better than average. I had hot green tea on hand and ate part of my meal with chopsticks. 5 stars! Me Con Bistro is affordable, aesthetic, and delicious! Each dish could feed a family of 5 and is seasoned to perfection. Even though the servers were understaffed, the one waiter did an excellent job at maintaining the restaurant (kudos to them!) The atmosphere of the restaurant was dim and relaxing; they even have a fish tank! I would definitely come here again. read more

Been wanting to try this Vietnamese restaurant for awhile. It is hard to find a Vietnamese restaurant that I like. Nothing compares to my grandma's food. So I might be biased on viet food My honest opinion about this place is that it was decent. I can tell that they catered it to match American taste. The pork bao reminded me of like a fusion banh mi. The vermicelli bowl was decent. I wish it was a bit more flavorful and had more heat in it. The nuoc mam was not pungent enough for me. My grandma would also add coconut milk to it at home. The duck hu tieu soup was good for me. I can tell there's a twist to it. I liked it but my grandparents were not a big fan of it. They said it didn't taste right. All in all, I think this place is decent. And if you want a quick viet fixing, it suffices. If I go back I'll just get the hu tieu. read more
We enjoyed the food from this restaurant. Ordered bowls of Pho as well as kimchi fries, which might seem like an odd combination until you try it. Pho had solid soup. One thing we found helpful for eating takeout is reboil the soup in a pot before placing the noodles and the meat inside. Will make for a better experience when very hot! read more

This spot is easy to miss since it is tucked away behind a gas station but I'm glad I found it. The General Tso's Chicken was easily some of the best I've had. Two huge scoops of steamed rice with about 10 ounces of chicken covered in a thin/crispy breading plus a tangy/spicy sauce for around $10 is a steal. My one complaint is that Google showed they were open for dine in, which was not the case. They are doing takeout only and I had to eat this meal in my car. read more

I've been here a few times now for dine-in and take out, lunch and dinner. The service is always great especially Rebecca emven when they are busy. I've tried several things on their menu now, and it's the best Vietnamese food I've had in Austin. There's plenty of parking space in the parking lot so that shouldn't be a problem. The prices and portion sizes are really good, so you can get full without spending a whole lot. I will definitely keep coming back. read more
