It's fish fry season so we made our annual trek to Mcpartlin's for fish fry. It did not disappoint. We started with the pretzels, which were interesting, the horseradish was a little strong. I had the breaded fish fry and it was really good. Coleslaw and fries were good. My wife had the broiled haddock and it was really good. Atmosphere looked like it did in the 90s, it could use a freshening up. Overall a good fish fry.

Came here to this neighborhood bar/restaurant late on a Saturday night, and had a great time with friends, and the wonderful bartender. Service was fantastic, with a handful of domestic beer on tap. The last Saturday of the month they serve chili ("slime") dogs that pair exceptionally well with beers yet still delicious on their own. Overall we had a great time and would love to come back again.

I've passed by this establishment dozens of times and we finally walked in to McPartlans and it was like taking a step back time. From the quaint decor and the vintage tables and chairs, it reminded me of dining with my grandparents. We were greeted by a very polite and friendly woman who had our drink and food orders going in near record time. The misses got the turkey sandwich which was a healthy helping of meat and veggies and she got a "cup " of fries which we all were surprised at how small it was. But she also got a cup of the broccoli cheddar soup and we love a thick hearty soup so this was a nice addition to the meal. The little yelper opted for her usual fingers and fries, her take was they were "ok", but the pickles got a thumbs up. I went for the famous fish fry. Either I've lost touch on what to expect for a $16 fish fry or this thing was just abnormally small. But it was an ok fish, wouldn't say famous but the slaw fries and rye bread were all a good addition. I'd be interested in trying their Reuben or wings next time as those seem to get good reviews.

Great neighborhood bar. A friend has become a regular and we joined him Saturday night. Great drink prices. Last Saturday of the month they have chili dogs. They were delicious.

Another holuday tradition that was checked off my list. Tasted even better since the company was one of my favorites! Tom and Jerry!

Haven't ever eaten inside. Only have had pickup over the years and decades. Don't live in the area, but last night wanted a homey fried fish dinner so went old school Buffalo. Charming low key old school for sure. Full of locals and service was friendly and not rushed. Had French onion soup, clam chowder and their classic fish fry. Definitely enjoyed the slow pace and quietness of it. Thought it would be busier but maybe Black Friday folks have other things on their minds. I would say 3.5stars this rounding up to 4. It's nothing fancy but gets the job done and just a chill place.

Spinach bread... I didn't expect it to be creamed spinach!

I've lived in WNY nearly my entire life, and my recent visit to McPartlan's Corner was my first-ever visit. (I even remember when there was a McPartlan's Other Corner!) I definitely showed my naivete by entering in the "bar door" instead of the dining room door... That's ok! The first of my group to arrive, I secured a 4-top and placed my order. We all enjoyed a Tom & Jerry, a seasonal drink to which I was recently introduced. A blend of Brandy or Bourbon topped with a merengue-like mixture and spices like cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. The drink was delicious. The food was pretty good, too. When I ordered spinach bread, I definitely expected something different than what I received. The Reuben was tasty, both for dinner and reheated in the oven for lunch the next day. Even the chips crisped up in the oven. The decor was festive & fun. The staff all seemed to have sour faces. Not one server looked like she was enjoying herself. There were many eye rolls, heavy sighs, and at times, my dining mates & I felt completely ignored. Perhaps it was just the night. IDK...

A place where I used to think had the best fish fry might be slipping out of that top spot. We got fish fry's on Friday and I can't say I was super impressed. The fish itself is good. It's not a huge piece compared to some other places but it didn't fall apart or mush when you cut into it which is definitely a plus. The salads are fine. The potato salad didn't have much flavor and the macaroni salad also seemed to be a little bland. Would love to have some more flavor added to those to bring the meal back up. The coleslaw I had was a little dry, and not as watery or creamy as it should be. It was almost like just eating normal cabbage. The fries here were really the only side that complimented the dish. I ate the meal but can't say I finished the sides. They just weren't up to par this time. Hopefully it was just a one time thing and McPartlan's can win me back next time.

Do you remember the first time you felt Christmas spirit as an adult? When looked forward to something so great that you think about all year and even tell strangers about it ? Well that the way I feel about Tom and Jerry...the drink . Mcpartlan's the no frills restaurant and bar, is one of places that does it the best !! Acctually, Mcpartlan was the very first place I tried a Tom and Jerry over 10 yrs ago!! Their meringue topping is thick, creamy yet whipped and wonderful. The rest of the drink made with Whiskey, I like to taste the top with spoon, take a sip of the drink then mix it together!! If this is your first time having a Tom and Jerry I'd suggest you start here...but you won't be able to have 2,lol !! I only ever get wings or fingers here but this time I got the sampler. Humongous potato skins, crunchy yet cheesy mozzarella sticks, wings and fingers( gave the Jalapenos poppers to my friend lol) . I was definitely full!! I love that they waitress was super bubbly inspite of being busy and knew the menu very well. I hadn't been to Mcpartlan's in few yrs but I will most definitely add it back to Tom and Jerry rotation!!! And yes the wings were perfect as always!!

I've been here a couple times so far and although the food is decent (I ordered roast beef and mashed potatoes ) and they make a pretty good Tom and Jerry - the service could use a little work . Although nobody was really rude - any special requests were made to seem like a hassle (separate checks , substitutions, extra water etc.) . It was a Tuesday evening , although they were steady - not every table was occupied , nobody was waiting for seating and they seemed staffed accordingly, so I don't understand why every request made was met with some sort of resistance. Prices are good (pay in cash and they are even better ) . Decor for the holidays is festive . Now if only this corner bar/restaurant had more of a friendly and comfy feel - like Cheers !

My friend and I stopped out at McPartlan's to catch up. This place is a comforting tavern. It isn't for everyone, but I like it. I was probably the youngest one there, but that's what is great about it. We both ordered the chicken taco salad. It is served with a side of jalapenos, olives, sour cream and salsa, and it is in a taco shell bowl. It was very good. I couldn't believe that they had that on the menu, and must have passed over it numerous times. I know now not to and will be ordering it in the future. My friend ordered a harrington, which is similar to a Manhattan and enjoyed two of those. I had two vodka sodas. Our bill came to $50. Not bad for 4 drinks and two salads.

I've been on somewhat of my own personal wing tour lately and I'm glad we tried Adolf's. We came on a Monday, which is their wing special night, 75 cent wings. We arrived a little before the 5:00 PM rush so we sat right at the bar, ordered and behold, the wings were in front of us in about 5 minutes! Service was very fast and friendly. We ordered hot, and the level of heat was exactly what hot is supposed to be. Saucy, but not swimming in excessive sauce. The wings were crispy outside and juicy inside, that elusive perfectly fried wing. We opted for the homemade blue cheese, and while I liked it, I found it didn't have a strong blue cheese flavor. But they do have two choices of blue cheese type. Carrots and celery were included, not always the case with wing night specials. I would call these elite level, top 10 in Buffalo wings, maybe even top 5. The only reason that I did not score 5 stars was that there we 7 drums and 3 flats - and I am a flat guy. This usually works out well because my wife likes the drums, but this time they definitely skewed in my wife's favor. If it were not the wing special night, I might have said something, but the wings were so good I did not want to register a complaint about the lack of flats. We also ordered the hand cut fries which were hot and excellent. We definitely plan to return.

He was a really nice guy and told me what his best menu items were. I had heard good things about the steak sandwich and hadn't had one in a while. I opted to get that with some fries. The fries were the best fries I've had. They taste like the ones from McDonald's only better because they aren't doused in salt. The sandwich was perfect. The steak was cooked exactly like it should be and the flavor was incredible. The peppers and onions on top added even more flavor but didn't overpower it. I don't think I've eaten anything faster in recent memory. No take out boxes needed here. The meal is too good not to eat right then. The bar also had a great vibe to it. I'm a big fan of old school style bars and establishments like this. The traditional architecture and nostalgic feeling is perfect here. It's not modernized like every other new bar built in the last decade. It's got character, a great menu, and excellent service. I will definitely be back for more lunch specials and enjoy this spot downtown.
