Just be careful not to deal with her and to ask for someone else; and worst case, document with video your returns. You can spend hours looking at every part on the planet but I was able to find a couple precision hex drivers (kits are nice but sometimes you don't need the other dozen tools) and some 4-40 x 3/16" set screws. This place was referred to me by a local hardware store. McMaster carr sells all types of products including hardware. I placed an order over the phone. The guys name was Richard. After giving him my card information he placed the order. An hour later there was a text message from my bank saying my credit card was being used to buy food at several chain restaurants in L.A. county. My bank account was charged hundreds of dollars. I had to cancel my card. And it will take ten days to receive the replacement. The only person who had my card information was Richard at McMaster-Carr in Santa fe springs. The manager said this type of fraud has happened before and it is hard to control. He was going to investigate the situation and let me know what he finds out. I walked in and gulped. I did not do my research, also known as, read any reviews.This was not a brick and mortar store. I should've done my shopping online when I had the chance. The problem was I did not know what my part was called. I brought it in to multiple hardware stores and none seemed to have it. This 'knob-screw-thingy-majig' was annoying me, but it was something I needed to put my project together. I came here on the recommendation of Roy B. I walked up to the cashier, Rosa, thinking she could just find it for me in their massive warehouse. She directed me to the area of placing orders with a massive book full of possibly Greek and Aramaic numbers. I told her I honestly did not know what i was looking for. She then even proceeded to tell me that their competition Grainger accepts tools all the time (or girls like me) and I could just go there and "dump my items on the counter". The look on my face must've been sheer distraught. It was pouring rain outside, and it was close to 4 PM. I would not have any luck at all today. Rosa changed her mind before my thoughts turned into anger and frustration. She then accompanied me to read their massive buyer's bible, and checked my item's screw measurements. She could not find the item herself, so she called upon the manager, Tammy, who then took her time in looking up something that would fit the bill. They did not have my exact knob-screw-thing-majig, but she found me something that would fit my needs. Tammy proceeded to give me the item number, so I could then call and order myself. I felt like a real grown-up, or err.. like a real man. Twenty minutes later, my name was called, and Rosa checked the items in the package. I also learned of their great return policy. Over 480,000 products? I believe it!!! McMaster-Carr is probably my favorite tool place to pick up. It's the toys r us of tool stores. You look at their catalog, which by the way has all of the products they carry, and even some special order ones. But don't worry if you need something special orderered it seems they always get it within a few days. For the most part, they have it all. We seem to always need some weird shaped or sized brackets, some strange size sockets, or odd casters. They have them all. Customer service is always top notch, and if you forget something, just walk in to will call and their is a phone and catalogs there to order whatever you need. They are always friendly, helpful, and if you can describe it, they can tell you what page to find it on. The people working at the Will Call desk are always funny, and courteous, even on a cold and rainy day when you know they don't want to be there. I love coming here not only for the product and service, I love the fact they have parking for big trucks. Just remember: the entrance is on Bell Ranch, right before the main entrance to the building, but if you miss it, they have signs everywhere sending you back to Bell Ranch. McMaster-Carr Supply Co is like Grainger, Home Depot, Uline, Ace and the like in that they sell various operation supplies for industrial use in building, recycling, maintenance and engineering. I give them 4-1/2 stars instead of 5 due to pricing. There are other places which have better pricing on certain items. Thier shipping charges are good, not too expensive. Thier purchase to invoice process is solid. The customer service will help you get quotes, identify products, make substitutions, provide lead time and place orders for you over the phone. They will not leave you hanging for those who have experienced that before. read more

This is my first review. I was so impressed with McMaster Carr I had to write one. What other hardware stores don't have, they probably will. I needed a countersunk, Phillips head, anodized steel, size 8, inch and a quarter long screw and they had 3 kinds. I needed nylon male to female 2 inch long 4-40 US and 30mm M3 long metric spacers and they had it. They have bearings, chains, sprockets, bushings, the list goes on. Their catalog is incredibly varied and specific. The building doesn't say "McMaster Carr" anywhere on the outside, but there are "Will Call" signs everywhere so look for those when you're trying to find the place. Be sure to order online because it's not a normal store where you can walk in and browse. It's more like a large warehouse with a cashier's desk. They also have catalogs and phones there you can order from. It takes about half an hour to gather everything you order, so I'd suggest ordering at home and driving there to pick it up. read more

I am here to say this company goes , far and beyond in service, I worked for a major manufacturer in field service, and 4 years ago, I started on my own, I was working on a job 200 miles away and order some parts, they arrived the next day like promised, but one of 3ft lengths of all thread had the wrong thread pitch, I called they gladly emailed me a return label and placed a order for the correct one to be delivered the next day, The next day came I checked on the status and it was shipped but UPS said it was going to be delayed another day, Which I had a strict time frame to repair this piece of equipment and I was already running behind. And I was in the middle of nowhere, so I couldn't get from anyplace else. I called McMaster, and they couldn't tell me why there was a delay but said they would see what they could do, I received a call stating they were shipping another piece out on a separate courier and I would have it in 4hrs I spoke with them a 4 to 4.30pm the part arrived at 9pm, and I was able to complete the repair on time. When I found McMaster-Carr I knew they would have what I needed. Very impressive site and good information about products. Very well laid out. As I always do, I look through any new website for shipping information. I should been able to put my items in the cart with my zip and get a shipping cost. NO, not at McMaster-Carr. As I hit the keyboard key to see a suggested shipping cost for the items in my cart, I see a message confirming my order instead. What? ........plus I still did not see a shipping cost. Within minutes I email the company to explain I needed to know the total cost before final order confirmation and to cancel my ordered before I had this information. I received a reply right away telling me the estimated shipping cost. What great customer service I thought...... ........but 6 hours later and another email I was informed the order shipped and I could refuse the order when it arrives. Total disappointment because there was no reason to process my order given the 6 hour time span without my final confirmation. Shipping cost was reasonable, but a blind shipping cost is not an upfront practice. Sure shipping varies due to weight but I shouldn't have to call or email for this information. Plus UPS does not pick up on Sunday. I felt I was lied too. They could not have shipped on Sunday. For me to refuse the ordered would mean that I would have to be at home otherwise it would have been left at the door. Luckily I was home at the time and the item were sent back. What a waist of time and money on the company's end when given plenty of notice but they still sent the package. I suggest they revamp their website for up front shipping charges. read more
