We had McLay services come to our home and complete a routine service on our Carrier heating system and replace the sink pop ups on three bathroom sinks. The service tech, Mike was on time and very friendly. He was extremely careful and respectful while in out home. That was very important to us. He had his shoe covers and mask on while performing service. Overall, Mike did a great job and we'd be happy to have him back. We are thankful to have found a company that delivers what it promises and for a fair price. That's rare these days. If you are in need of service on your heating and/or cooling system or need plumbing of any kind completed, you should give McLay Services a call. You'll be glad you did. read more

I just love this company!!! This is only my second time calling them for service, and I have to say that they continue to provide such amazing service at more than reasonable prices for their time and the work they do! They are now my go to for any needs I have that they offer services for. Their guy Mike was here for 3 hours, totally went through, and fixed any issues with my central air. The price I was quoted was the price I paid, and believe me, I definitely got more than my monies worth! I have to mention, my family suffered yesterday with extreme heat in the house, pets included. I called them first thing this morning, and they fit me in at 11am, and they showed up around 8:30 am......beat the heat, all is good! I have lived here over 23 years and only came to find McLay two months ago. It is so nice to have what feels like a family business that I can trust! You would be doing yourself a favor by calling them the next time you need something serviced for your home. read more

After checking reviews, I tried this local company to check my 5-year old AC unit that wouldn't start. It was a heatwave, so I think they sent an unqualified tech to my house. After 2+hours he realized that all it needed was Freon. Told us that it was expensive. I had to ask him how much it needed, he said less than 3 pounds. He poured liquid in, and it started working. Then told me that i would be paying him by the hour. I spoke with the owner the next day and he explained that because they were so overwhelmed with calls that a tech, new to their company, was learning their protocol. The air-conditioner was fixed and all was well, and the bill was revised to reflect the appropriate charges. read more

We had scheduled an appointment for estimate a upgrade AC unit, technician showed up, he checked everything and charge us $149.00 for an estimate and we paid. 2 weeks past by still no estimate, no quote! Called to the company couple times, the only answer they have was "will get back to us"........but they never get back to us at all. When the technician at the property I was asking for the quote and he said the price is set by the owner of the company, they can't give out any pricing! Is this company only drop by and charge people for looking at the old system but never estimate or never really do the AC work? They said the technicians are very busy for doing estimate all over the city!!! If a technician checking 5 properties a day, he's helping the company make $745 a day; if the company paying the technicians $45.00 per hour labor, the company making $385 per technician. 5 technicians help the company make $1925 per day......it is better then doing repair and install any AC unit job. No headaches..............but it is terrible for all consumer who wants get the AC done!!!!! read more

Had a clogged toilet. Called McClay. Been using them for years and had always had good service at a really fair price. Not this time. They snaked the sewer line and hit me with a bill for $179 . After a call to their office, they dropped it to $149. There was no quote prior to doing the work, In the past they charged much less, From what I see most charge $50 to $90. ... Ok, everything has gone up.. I get it,,,, But 4 days later the same exact problem. It was not fixed. It was plunger time again,, (Fast forward) Now totally clogged and I have to get someone else out here to deal with it. To be fair, in the past McClay has been really great. Not this time, read more

Do your research, it should be a crime for these guys to do work nearly double the price as other local AC shops charge. Was quoted 750.00$ for new fan motor. Tech told me part was 625.00$. So I checked local price for the fan motor guess what it cost 198.00$. !!!!! Come on guys stop trying to rob your customers read more

McLay services has been our plumbers/ heating/air conditioning service company ever since we moved here over 25 years ago. Every person they send here is skilled, friendly and honest. We have family members living in another home that needed some plumbing work. Since I have a high regard for McLay Services, I was hoping that they would be willing to go to that home and do all the repairs. Sure enough, Chad and Skyler of McLay met me there! The job ended up being complicated due to old plumbing that rusted and stuck. Chad and Skyler had to cut metal pipes, deal with removing a rusted and stubborn old faucet fixture and dislodging old valves. Any issues that came up (and there were more than a few), they had specialty tools to tackle them. It really was quite amazing to watch them work. Furthermore, I am so glad that I didn't try to tackle the job on my own. Chad and Skyler cleared two drains, put new valves under the sink, and installed a faucet and drain stop. After 3 hours of hard work by both of them, I was surprised with a very reasonable price. See, that's the thing: for 25 years, McLay has provided phenomenal work for very reasonable costs. This is why I wanted them to service our family member's home. It was so super cool for them to go and meet me there. McLay Services ROCKS! And Chad and Skyler are Lifesavers! I would have been way in over-my-head had I attempted those repairs myself. read more

I have used McLay Services for years now and they continue to be the best plumbers in the area. Not only for their impeccable service and knowledge but also for their employees. We had a service call this morning for two toilet issues and a faucet installation, and Cesar showed up on time, and was extremely personable and respectful. He was efficient and extremely friendly. We will definitely use McLay again and ask for Cesar. read more

Our AC went out just in time for first heat wave of the year and we called McLays to help get it fixed. Miguel showed up on time, and quickly tracked down and repaired the problem. He took a few minutes to to help me understand what had happened and how he resolved it. Now we're ready for summer! read more

Great response time and excellent service. I highly recommend this company for ac work.

We recently moved into a new home and have had the opportunity to get to know the McLay Services technicians and their work very, very well. We've had our entire HVAC system replaced and numerous repairs/upgrades to our plumbing over the last 6 weeks and have been extremely happy with them every step of the way. When we first contacted them regarding quotes, McLay seemed a little pricier than some other companies but once I made some phone calls and compared line items between the companies I was vetting, their pricing was on par and they seemed to really know what they are doing. I really appreciate that up front they factored in all of the small line items that other companies would add on after the initial quote was accepted. The HVAC installation took just over a week and included remediation of asbestos ducting, installation of new ducting, installation of a new vent, relocation of and new furnace, relocation of and new 19-SEER AC condenser, relocated air return, new electrical lines, new gas lines, and new thermostat. They arrived on time every day, worked diligently, and cleaned up after themselves. Archie, the owner of the company, not only checked in every day to see how the project was going but also did some of the install work himself. When the project was nearly over, he decided that the air return made too much noise, so had them replace it with a higher grade one to reduce the sound. As far as plumbing goes, we've had Chad come out twice nice. Once to replace the cheap garbage disposal that was in the kitchen when we bought the house and another time to fix a screw up by the previous owners where they had swapped cold and hot water lines. Both times, he arrived at the early end of the two hour window I was given, worked quickly and efficiently, and got the problems solved. I'm very happy with the services I've received at McLay and they have quickly become my first call for any plumbing and HVAC issues that I might have. read more

Had our 2002 water heater replaced by McLay Plumbing. Service representative from McLay (Chad) said most water heaters need to be replaced after 10 years. We were getting a strange popping noise at night -- Chad told us that was the calcium build up inside the water heater. When he replaced the unit, he opened it up and we saw the calcium he was referring too. Chad is a honest, straight forward guy and represents McLay Plumbing extremely well! Thank you! read more

I am a renter of a high-end condo and was watching the property manager's 'authorized' repairman mangle the repair of the broken water heater. Cameron of McLay (who was working on a neighbor's leak) poked his head in the garage just to see what was happening and we got to talking about the issue. There is no doubt that Cameron knows his stuff about water heaters and about the processes for getting the parts and for competently and SAFELY getting it repaired. I decided to send the handyman packing and would pay McLay out of my pocket to get it repaired properly. Unfortunately, the following morning I had to cancel the part order and the service so that the owner could send out their personal plumber. In any case, there are several reasons I would use McLay in the future. 1. Cameron was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, clean, and very capable. 2. The price was extremely awesome. Only $125 for parts/labor (part was under warranty). 3. The McLay office staff were very courteous and capable. They even called to follow-up with me several times. Thank you Cameron!! read more

Great work, knowledgeable, trustworthy, efficient, and way, way fair. I can't say enough terrific things about Archie and that crew. Talva is an amazing gem, the whole office crew is. I had an air conditioning issue and it was resolved perfectly! Please, I implore you to give these people your business. They are the last of the last business that you can trust in an era of sub-par work, and in an area swollen with incompetent, unscrupulous, fraudulent, and deceptive "professionals." I can't thank you enough McLay! read more

My husband Tommy has known the owner Archie for 40 years. They went to high school together. Your never find a more honest, hard working guy than Archie. His work ethic shines through in his employee's. We had Chad out to fix our water heater. Chad does great work, he's also very knowledgeable. We are having him come back to do some work for our upcoming kitchen remodel. All and all we highly recommend Mclay's!! read more

Scheduled an appointment and asked that they call when the serviceman was on the way since there was a 2 hour window and I had to drive to the home to meet him. Cesar was able to identify the problem, but did not have the part, a capacitor, on the truck which required a trip of 30 min to an AC parts distributor. Part in hand, repairs were completed and the AC unit was cleaned and checked for any other problems; none reported. Cost $ 345.50, time about 2 hours. read more

We had a major leak in a pipe leading to our kitchen sink. After doing the best I could to trouble shoot, I realized this was above my level of expertise. We called McClay and from the first moment they were professional and responsive. They set us up with a two hour window (10:00- 12:00) and arrived at about 10:05. Roger was a great technician. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He diagnosed the issue, went to work and fixed our problem right away. I would recommend these folks to family and friends in a heartbeat. Thanks McClay and job well done Roger. read more

And now we have nice Cool Air Conditioning once again. Thank you so much to Mclay's team for resolving the problem. We have used McLay for over 20 years and have had nothing but good service from them. They are honest, reasonably priced, and best of all they are excellent on making both proactive recommendations and repairs. We have had problems occur while we were out of town, and McLay's stepped up and fixed everything while we were gone. They were more worried about getting the problem fixed than about getting their money. We give them our highest recommendation and encourage everyone to give them a chance to show how great they are. read more

They are pricey and the work that was done in our condo broke/leaked again within 3 years. Other plumber said that it was the exact same place where it had been repaired before by McLay. The owner is nice but be weary of the new plumbers they send out. They need to be more assertive and follow up on the work they do. read more

Working with McLay was straightforward and easy. They sent me an estimated cost for A/C maintenance as well as a list of everything included, no surprises. Have done business with this company a few times. Their people show up on time. They are knowledgeable and courteous. Prices are reasonable.

Last Friday after work returned home to no air conditioning. I immediately call Mclay services and tech came the next day. No back and forth on the phone. He got our unit running until he brings the replacement part. Highly recommended! read more

Despite my previous experience with McLay Services I have updated my review to 2 stars only because ther owner Archie personally called me to get further clarification on what occurred. He took full responsibility of the technician thay came out and gave me a full refund including the Yelp coupon I purchased. I guess it was the least he do make up for the bad experience I had. read more

I have known Archie McLay the owner professionally for over 20 years. He is very knowledgeable in his field, honest and trustworthy. Recently I had McLay Services replace the ducting of my HVAC system. The two men that did the work in my home did an excellent job. The air flow coming out of my vents has increased dramatically. I recommend McLay Services with no reservation. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the technicians arrived approximately 1 hour late of the arrival window I was given. read more

Had them for minor issues including water heater flush and tub caulking. Great job all around. Done quick, efficiently and professionally.

We had a new water heater installed in our previous home maybe 15 years ago, and were very pleased. We had a new water heater installed when we bought our current home 4 years ago, and again, excellent product and service. Today they sent "Scott" to install an earthquake emergency gas shut-off device, and they continued their tradition of excellence and professionalism. What's better for a contractor than being on time, completing the work carefully and in a timely way, and representing your company with pride and class? For a homeowner it's great to have a reliable plumber to call on, especially if an emergency arises. read more

Today's experience with McLay's was perfect. I called mid morning for help with a plumbing issue and was so happy and surprised to get a same-day appointment window from 1 to 3pm. Shortly after noon, Cesar called to say he was on the way. I was delighted that he was early, and appreciated that he followed their safety protocol. He explained everything confidently and clearly (he would make an excellent trainer). From start (my call to the office) to finish, this was a friendly, helpful, and professional experience - no surprise, as this has been the case, every time, with McLay's. Thank you! read more

Excellent customer service, which is very important to me. There are companies that do not provide great customer service and they did! They also are very competitive in their prices. Overall, I highly recommend them. read more

I had a few issues with the receptionist not calling me back for a consultation at first, but when Archie (the owner) found out what was happening he called immediately to apologize and make things right. He came to my house within twenty minutes of the phone call to give me a quote on different a/c options for my manufactured home. Archie was very thorough in his evaluation of my home and with his explanations of what would be needed and why. I am looking forward to working with him. read more

A plumber came to repair a leaky pipe. He put in a new pipe, but the leak was not fixed. I set up another appointment so they could come back to redo repair. THIS IS THE POINT WHERE THE ONE STAR COMES IN... They set up the appointment to begin between 9 and 11 am. By noon they still had not shown up. When I called to inquire why, and ask if it is standard for their plumbers to just NO SHOW/NO CALL, I was told I was being RUDE. I reminded the operator that being upset about a no show is normal, and a professional company providing good customer service would understand and offer an apology. I have to say I was annoyed and put out by the no show, but wasn't made furious until the operator called me rude. They were paid for a repair that was not accomplished: fine things happen. But then they treat their customer poorly. Everyone has a busy life, when you agree to a time frame, the least a service provider can do is INFORM you that they are not going to make it and revise the time frame. Oh, and not make their customers chase them down to figure out what is going on. THEN AFTER THEY DON'T FIX YOUR PROBLEM, DON'T SHOW UP TO REDO REPAIR, AND CALL YOU RUDE. I guess call them if you like to pay to be treated with disrespect. read more

I had a brand new Carrier system installed 4 years ago from another company and my condenser froze up. The company that originally installed it takes forever to have a tech come out. I found McLay Services on Carrier's website and called them. They came out next day so I signed up for their maintenance plan. Miguel came out to do the service and he was great. I also had a chance to speak to Archie (the owner) on the phone a couple times regarding possibly changing some stuff from my AC. Let's just say they earned my business. I wished they were on Carrier's website 4 years ago so I could of had them install my AC. Miguel and Archie were very easy to deal with and very honest. I don't do many reviews but my reviews are always for the contractors that are honest that I can totally trust. I've dealt with many contractors and only the BEST deserves my time for writing a review. Give them a call you won't regret it! read more

As we all know Summer feels like it never left. At the start of April it hit 90 degree weather. I turned on my AC and it had a very dusty smell. I knew I had to change the filters. I called McLay Sevices to make sure I was doing everything right. Since I bought my AC unit from them. (Best purchase I could have ever made). They told me I had a free maintenance check. They scheduled it for the next morning. The Tech Arrived on time and I had a million Questions. He showed me everything he was doing and how to keep my AC in good working order. He was very patient and very thorough. Miguel was my Tech and I'd like to say he is a great and wonderful addition to McLay sevices. I felt reassured and grateful. I'll be ready for the summer heat. We have had a strange gas smell in our house for a little while, we finally tracked it down to your downstairs heater. It seems that something was wrong however I do not know much about HVAC. I found a company in Fountian Valley that had really good Yelp reviews, I gave them a call and they were fully booked. They referred me to McLay. When I called them they were very attentive and interested in helping me solve my issue. They worked with me to get a tech out as soon as possible, which for me was the next day. Todd, was the tech that showed up, and he had a cheerful disposition and was excited to get started and make sure that everything was right. Apon basic inspection everything appeared fine, however he did a more indepth check and noticed that the gas lines that supplied the heater was loose. It so loose that he could turn it by hand. He resealed the pipe tested the unit a few times, and then validated that the other heater unit was not leaking. Overall I am super happy with the service. He took the time to explain everything to me, and assured me that the safty of my family was a prioirty for him. After having him in the house to look at the heaters, I feel that my family is safe and secure. Which is why I wanted a trustworthy company to come and fix my system. I watch a lot of Holmes Inspection and Holmes on Homes, and was very nervious about letting someone into my house. McLay has filled me full of trust, and I would be happy to call them again. read more

I called McLays due to a drainage pipe problem with our home A/C system. They sent a repairman later the same day. Mike showed up right on time. I explained what was happening and he knew right away what the likely cause was. He cleared the pipe and then checked it to make sure it was flowing properly again. Once he confirmed it was all good, he reassembled the pipe and gave some advice on how to keep the pipe working properly in the future. Mike was very professional and did not try to upsell anything. We'll definitely use McLays again if we come across any other problems with our A/C system. read more

I called and spoke to Archie on a Saturday about changing out my parents wall furnace he was very friendly and helpful. He quoted me a price and I scheduled for them to do the work on Thursday his guys showed up with masks and booties which I appreciated. The service was easy to setup and the technician came in fairly early within the schedule window which was nice. I give a 4 because the service price was higher than typical rates. I have a plumber that's terminally sick, so I needed to find someone with good reviews. Job took 15-20 minutes and this required an hour of work. The so called $20 discount from Angie's List is on the inflated price so the final payment was pretty much the normal rate. The tech was a good guy and helpful, but the price might not make me come back. read more
