If I could give zero stars, I would. My elderly mother's air conditioner stopped working, so she called Cypress Air in the San Gabriel Valley. After inspecting the system, they told her she needed an entirely new HVAC system and claimed the job would cost around $28,000, saying it would be even more because of asbestos concerns. Thankfully, before signing anything, we got a second opinion from a company recommended by a trusted friend. They diagnosed the actual problem, repaired the existing system for $1,400, and had it running like new. They also told my mother the unit was in great overall condition and that anyone insisting it needed immediate replacement was not giving her an honest assessment. Whether this was incompetence or an attempt to sell an unnecessary replacement, the result was the same: a homeowner was told to spend tens of thousands of dollars when a relatively inexpensive repair solved the problem. Always get a second opinion before replacing an HVAC system. In our experience, doing so saved my mother more than $26,000. Based on what happened to us, I would strongly recommend staying away from Cypress Air. read more

I NEVER leave yelp reviews, but for this matter I am going to. Cypress Air came to my home to give me an estimate and tell me what was wrong with my air conditioner. The guy Joseph, instantly started trying to sell me on things ( my husband owns a business, I know the tricks on these sales talks). Anyways, I asked how much it would be and he said he wont know until he goes up on my roof to see what was wrong. He went up was maybe up there 15 minutes. Came back and told me what was wrong and I said ok, how much to fix it? and he said he already did it and it was $400 dollars. He did it without even telling me before hand! I could've done this much cheaper and I am so upset that he went behind my back after I said multiple times to tell me estimate prior. I obviously paid and then once again received a sales talk about how I need a new unit and there is only one left so I should make a decision asap....NEVER will I work with this company again. The cost was $670.00 and I paid it since I did not think to question this since I am not knowledgeable about this sort of stuff. As I questioned the price of the part after the fact (since the invoice had $20.00 as the materials tax) I was informed it was $400.00 for the part. Still very happy with this company that I've dealt with for well over 30 years. I had the complementary service visit yesterday (following an HVAC installation before last year's major heat wave). The young technician was very professional and respectful of my home space and also answered many questions I had about the new system. I am planning to opt for their $150/year maintenance, which includes two visits and changing filters (I pay for the filter, but I can order it on-line, probably from Amazon) and checking all equipment. I don't ever want to be in a situation again where the A/C goes out when you really need it. Also, I used my new Lennox A/C during the most recent hot spell last week (May 2025), and it is so much quieter and energy efficient, that I still only used my solar panel power, and didn't dip into any SCE power. It will be interesting to see how that plays out during August and September. The only negative thing is that I have a Nest thermostat, which I love, but there may be some issues with that brand and the Lennox brand. So far I've not had any problems, but just saying you might want to check out reviews concerning technical issues between the two companies (Lennox and Nest). That doesn't detract from this rating. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with Cypress Air. Five years ago, they installed a Lennox system, and recently, the compressor started overheating. I reached out to them to inquire about the warranty after having an experienced technician from another company confirm that the compressor needed replacement. Cypress Air came out, charged me $85, and spent less than 10 minutes on site. The only thing they checked was the Freon levels. The technician didn't perform any thorough inspection or diagnostics and simply wrote in his notes, "customer says compressor overheating, may be going bad." Then, they had the nerve to quote me $2800 for the replacement. I feel completely hustled for that $85 charge. It's clear they are not honest, and it seems like they are more interested in money gauging than providing quality service. I do NOT recommend this company! read more

I am SO glad I contacted Cypress Heating and Air to do the regular maintenance on our systems. I was a little hesitant to call anyone because I had such a bad experience with the technicians who worked for the company that did our original installation. I am SO sorry that I didm't use Cypress from the start. That tech immediatly tried to upsell us something to improve the system that they just installed 6 months before! It was just $2300!!! Well, Alex from Cypress suggested that we do the same upgrade but it was under $400!!!! Alex was great from the start. Right before I called to get the regular maintenance (which is MUCH more reasonalbe than my original guy and many others) our thermostat started having issues. Alex found the problem right away and he also walked us through getting the app on our phone - SO helpful!! I was so impressed with his work, he did so much more than the original tech. Beware of Cypress AC!! 0 stars is not an option with YELP but it should be. A man claiming to be the owner of the company (never offered a name/introduction) arrived and immediately was rude, condescending and using profanity. He demanded his tech stop working and ordered him to leave the crawl space. His statement (not an explanation) was "we dont go under houses - well I don't". The appointment was scheduled 1 week prior and I explained to the office a tech would have to go under the house. I refused to pay for this HORRIBLE experience and I had to ask this man to leave my house. The number of A/C companies are many. Stay away from Cypress AC !! I had a problem with the thermostat for the heater. It would come on then not. I had worked on my HVAC unit myself and everything worked except coming on and off. The inducer motor worked perfectly. The Blower motor as well. The tech? Joshua spent 5 minutes looking at it. All I could see was him standing on the ladder into the crawl space of the roof where the unit is. No testing equipment. I have it in my ring he only carried in the ladder. I'm waiting for him to tell me the circuit board is faulty, the wires are faulty. Instead he says the Inducer motor is bad. I said that's funny worked every time I turned the unit on. Being I had looked at it and had my wife turn it on different times trying to figure why the heat wasn't coming on. He said I'll give you an estimate $1200 just for the motor. When he left I went up the ladder noticed he cracked the clip to the wire. I noticed the dust was missing in a line a tell tail sign it just happened. When I moved the clip you could see the wire to the inducer motor was cut. So not only did this genius not fix my unit he just cost me minimum $300 for a new motor wholesale. Don't trust these people. He asked me for a good rating before I saw what he did and by my word I gave him one. To some people integrity means something. He made sure to ask and they sent the rating text right away. Covers their asses. Don't buy into it. I'm wondering how many people bought inducer motors from them. I wouldn't trust this company to change a light bulb. They scammed a retired vet.
