After having 1 bad experience at Freedom smog on Kansas which I go for Veteran discount since 2009... I'll never go back there again This is my new smog place and cheaper than the other place by $3. Even with "military discount" Was in and out within 10-15 min or less .. friendly staff and there was 1 guy working here and working the quickest he could to get everyone in and out. I'll definitely be back here. read more

This was the quickest smog I have ever got. The service was great! I just got out of my car and already had someone helping me and they just opened. I think I was only there for about 15 minutes and I was already on my way. You can tell they all take their jobs serious and take pride in the work they do. I will definitely take any car I have that needs a smog here and suggest it to everyone I know! read more

I totally understand why Mchenry Smog Center has 5 stars and I just wanted to help them continue that. I was immediately greeted and helped. We were there all of 15 minutes and in the meantime we got to sit in the waiting room and observe all the cute pugs! Great price and service, not to mention hassle free! Also think it's noteworthy to add that the second the phone was ringing they ran into the next room to answer it right away! Oh and we were thanked outside upon leaving! I drove to the business a few different times to get my smog completed and saw a line out the door on both occasions. I called to make an appointment and was able to get in the next day. Showed up at my appointment time, handed them my keys and was done approximately 30 minutes later. Couldn't have asked for an easier process. Thanks! read more

Needed to smog my 95yo father in law's car on a Saturday (I live in Oakland). Silly me tried some other shops first, but they were either closed (contrary to yelp info), or "too busy". Since I didn't have an appointment, I did have to wait, but not for long. I did get a chance to observe their interactions with other customers -- always friendly, clear, and empathetic (their car failed the test). If I lived closer, I'd bring my vehicles here to smog! You Modesto folks are very lucky to have this business nearby. read more

First time here. I saw the great reviews and drove especially far just to come and was not disappointed. Excellent customer service the lady was nice and friendly on the phone they let me know that I couldn't pay the registration here but they did have someone they recommended if I wanted to go after. I was hoped immediately that even price matched a coupon that I brought from another place mistakenly. This is my go to. I like being treated good for my money and that's what I got ok m top of great service! (Call in advanced just incase when you can) read more

I had a surprise SMOG check that was required to complete the title transfer for my newly acquired 2001 Chevy Astro van that I had just purchased and looked for the closest smog check station to get this done right away and this shop really turned an inconvenient surprise into a walk in the park. I was in and out in about 15 mins or less and the rates were fantastic. Thank you again for the excellent service and making my day slightly more bearable :) read more

Best smog shop I've dealt with , First time i went he informed me that if he ran it , my car would be an automatic fail due to my cel not functioning properly (most shops won't let you know that just to make a quick $) , after i returned he ran my car on the dyno and kept me informed each step and also was kind enough to go the extra mile To ensure my car was hot to burn better . 100% probably THE BEST smog shop I've ever dealt with . Very friendly and great service 10/10 recommend read more

Want to know why there are so many 5 star reviews? Take your car to Mchenry Smog and find out for yourself. Khan is quick, intelligent, and great guy! Raquel in the office is super efficient. This place is amazing. I got my first smog check for my Fiat that I drove across the country and it only took about 15 minutes. The workers are so kind and I only spent about 40 bucks! So worth it. Definitely will be the go to spot. read more

I appreciate that this business does give Dmv the notice for pass. All I had to do was go the following day to one of those kiosk that have DMV and got my registration right away. I drove to The Smog Shop which was out of my way and told the owner what his friend said. Long story short - I did not receive any discount and when I told the owner he hadn't given me a discount....he assured me he had until I pointed out the price sign on his wall that clearly showed he had not. He then told me that everything has " gone up" and that he was less expensive than any other smog shop. That is not true. I had to listen to this guy bad mouth other smog shops stating they had "ripped off customers," but I don't see how he thinks he's any different. He could have told me from the beginning that he wasn't giving me a discount and then I could have left and found another less expensive smog station since his charges were higher than any other shop I've been to in the past. I let the owner know that I will not be doing business there again.
