Made an appointment & showed up a bit early but the owner/mechanic took me in right away. I went inside the little shop waiting area while he completed my SMOG check. The waiting area reminded me of when my dad had a shop, it had cute little touches of "family-owned" --- tons of pictures of pugs, lol. I am a fan of pugs :) It seems to be family run since there was a young man who helped me with my forms and cashed me out. He was quiet but polite - straight business. All in all, I was there for maybe 10 mins. tops. The only downside is that when I entered the address into my GPS, it brought me to the next street down for some reason. So just something to point out when following your GPS, turn sooner than you think you need to. read more

Walked into this business because it was close to where I live. I was just going to make an appointment. Since I had my DMV renewal with me, they said could do it right now and would take about 10 minutes. Fabulous....let's do that. In 10 minutes they were done, paid and got my paperwork and off I went. Really nice people that work there. Absolutely would recommend McHenry Smog to anyone and will be certain to go back in the future. read more

Outside of my normal foodie review but ahh I had to give a good review for this place. Their interior is decked out in PUGS. How freaking cute! I've never seen so many pug paintings, antiques and anything pug related. Like who doesn't love pugs lol The pricing was good. It came out to $45 for my 2018 Civic. Also, they're pretty fast. I came late in the evening after getting an oil change (after work really) and I was in and out in a span of less than 20 minutes with multiple cars in front of me. read more

Asian-ish looking tech pulled my car in. Proceeded to open the hood, looked around and then backed my car out and told me to go someplace else. He indicated that I had "too many" aftermarket parts. I tried to explain the car (1996 Saleen S-351) but he would have nothing to do with me and walked away and hid in the back. The shop seems to have no knowledge of "specialty" cars. This shop can not be recommended for any "specialty" cars. read more

I walked in, and was out within 10 minutes, they charged me $50. I was able to go to the kiosk inside Save Mart the next morning, to renew my registration and that took less than 5 minutes. I was very pleased. read more

Took my 2016 Ram for a required smog for dmv vehicle transfer. They take Apple Pay , and were in and out in about 18 minutes. So easy , 45 bucks even , super nice staff. If you're a woman who needs smog, this is a safe place where you won't get pressured . Would send my little sister here when she's due for smog. Will be back soon. read more

I always take my cars here to get smogged. Why? Because they always fit me in, get it done in a matter of 15 minutes or so... and they are kind. Great place and I will continue to do business with them! Also their prices are great. read more

It was so easy to make an appointment online. I was quickly confirmed and I had an almost immediate appointment and estimate. Not only that, when I arrived everyone was kind, helpful, and efficient. Everything was explained and easy, even on a rainy day. The business is just a little back off of McHenry Avenue but there's plenty of parking and the sign for "Office" was clearly marked. They electronically transmit the information to the DMV so I could go home and register my vehicle online right away. Their reasonable fees are clearly marked so you know exactly how much it will be ahead of time. read more

I am new to the area and called around several smog shops because I had a few family cars that needed to be smogged. This one by far had the best value! Too many smog shops are charging way too much these days for smog that take less than 10mins. McHenry charges $45 per car. read more

I moved here from the bay area 12 years ago and it was a crap shoot finding a good smog station. I rolled the dice on these guys and have not had one regret. I won't take my car anywhere else. ( they are still able to smog even though it's an older car now). Great Place! Great Staff ! read more

Bella and the staff was super nice and friendly, which makes a big difference when you're just trying to knock out errands on a busy day. The overall service was smooth, honest, and straight to the point. No upselling, no surprises, just good people taking care of business. Safe to say I found my new yearly smog spot. I appreciate that this business does give Dmv the notice for pass. All I had to do was go the following day to one of those kiosk that have DMV and got my registration right away. Also they do get busy so I recommend going there first thing in the morning I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. Also go on their website to get a $10 discount that helps.
