I recently went to get a smog check because my registration was due and required it. I previously asked other smog businesses if they work with Dmv and they said no. I appreciate that this business does give Dmv the notice for pass. All I had to do was go the following day to one of those kiosk that have DMV and got my registration right away. I contacted the Modesto location Freedom smog, last monday morning after searching for a local company that could do a clean truck check for a few trucks of mine. This stuff is all new to me as well as anyone since the law recently passed so I was quite hesitant and have been putting it off until the last minute. First site that popped up was Freedom Smog. I thought great that was easy, when I called I was told they do not do those tests and when I asked if perhaps one of the other locations did I was told a firm no, the person wasn't that friendly and I was a little taken off but I moved on with my day, later in the evening my wife sent me a different website to contact regarding the tests. Again the name "Freedom Smog" popped up, but a different number. I contacted it and sure enough Freedom smog does do the clean truck tests. I had all my questions answered and concerns I had, and even better made an appointment to head over to the shop to have it done. The test is self was quick. If you're needing a clean truck test I recommend Freedom clean check. Perhaps all the connected businesses need to have all the correct information when it comes to the truck tests, but I'm sure it's all new to everyone and will take some time to adjust to all of this new information and testing! Been coming here since I got out the Navy in 2009. Never had an issue until this weekend. So I took in my car, 1 guy working , seems irritated and like he hates his job/life. He takes my car in and comes back in like 10 min and says " sorry your car failed the visual" your cold air intake tube has a crack, you have to replace it and come back for re-test . He gave me the price for retest . I was like cool ok I'll fix it and come back. Then he says we'll we can fix it for you but I don't know how long it will take maybe until the end of the day I can get a price and maybe get the part because you can only get it from the dealer. I thought to myself I'll call AutoZone and Orielly n get the part. So I did , oreillys had the part $22, replaced the part and took it back. This time there is 2 people ahead of me, sign says only one technician is working! I asked how long for a retest for the visual that he failed my car on he said 1hr 45 minutes!!! Ridiculous. Horrible customer service, horrible customer service and no sense of urgency to get people in and out.. I'll never go back there again! So I found Mchenry Smog I literally waited 10-15 minutes and my car was smogged! I think the owner should know about his technician he has working for him. I don't think he owns this place because the lady before me that was paying asked him if he is the owner and he said "NO, how do you want to pay " like eeeww rude . Alright so a while back ago I came to get a smog 20 minutes after open and the door is locked, so I wait about 15 minutes and nobody even shows up. I then decide to give them a chance to go to the other location and when I get there it looks open but nobody is there... i wait in the lobby for 5 minutes until someone finally greets me, not in the best mood, and tells me that they're going to go to the other location and i can't get a smog for another hour...‍ so i get one and i failed because my "pcv valve was split open". I go to change my pcv valve days later and THERES NO SPLITS on it or anything wrong with it at all. Absolutely ridiculous. On top of all that it was a good $25 more expensive than the online price. Went in for a smog check they failed the smog for a collapsed evap hose I replaced the hose and then they told me that the hose that I used was the wrong type of hose. The hose that that told me was collapsed was not collapsed I put that hose back on and went to another smog shop they inspected the hose and told me that it was not collapsed and passed my vehicle this place is a ripoff read more

I started going to the Kansas avenue location to get all our cars emissions tests performed. I have always been treated with respect. The place is clean and has military artifacts to view and take up some time. The staff is very accommodating and proficient in performing the test. I have since taken my in-laws cars there to be tested as well. I took my father in-law with me today and he is in his 80's and uses a walker to get around. The technician took the time to back the car into the handicap spot to make it easier for me to get my father in-law back into the car. It is nice to see a business that respects our military and the elders of the community. I highly recommend people to bring their cars to this location to be tested. read more

Brought in our 1998 civic to be smogged and was lucky they do it because alot of places don't have the machine for older vehicles. Anyways the car didn't pass at first but the awesome part is that they were able to tell us exactly what we needed to do to get it to pass.
