They have a nice clean waiting room with Armed Forces memorabilia decorating it. Went today for a smog, it passed! It was $48.50, but as I was checking in on Yelp, there was a check in coupon! They accepted it, so it ended up being $38! The place is close by my house, they are military supporters. The inside has lots of military memorabilia. The service guy was really nice too. read more

Went in to have a smog done and this young man working there i would have to come back in 3 hours because he was hungry and had'nt eaten. That was Ok until I spoke with another lady which whom he did a smog on her car, and charged her as well, but informed her he would redo her smog upon failing, and elected to not honor it. she was very upset about this as she was sharing her story with me. Clean and INVITING - especially important to me - 76 year old woman whose 99 Toyota Camry was needing STAR smog certification. The young woman was friendly, courteous and gave a good visit with me regarding our Country's military and the sacrifices that have been given. Fast service but now I need to edit review first time I made a purchase through groupon had no trouble or extra charge now my second time purchasing from groupon I had to pay extra on top of the purchase I made on groupon! If I knew that was the case I would have not bothered making a purchase on groupon, so not purchase from Groupon because you think you are paying for the price including the certificate but actually you will be paying an additional $8.25. I called and made appointment and asked about the Veterans discount in the flyer. He said to bring it with me. I drove from Oakdale to Modesto and he told me that the deal for Veterans was stopped this morning. He said that he would give me a Veteran discount, $30. The coupon on the flyer said $29.75. Awesome customer service! My husband and I walked in today to have his truck smog and got it for free because he is a veteran. The only thing that cost us was the price of the certificate. Freedom Smog is the absolute best place to have your smog test done. My son and I both go there whenever the smog test is due. Alex the technician is so pleasant and personable. He is also very quick with the testing so, I was out of there in 10 minutes. The office is very clean and there's a container for item donations for the troops. read more

I've used these guys 3 times before and nEver had any problems. Took my brothers car in and they said the cat was scratched so they couldn't read the number on it. Replaced the cat and came back. They failed it saying it has a D.C. Headers that didn't belong to car. Went online and looked up the numbers and it does belong to the car and engine. Funny part is the header was on that car when it was smogged 2 years ago by them. I'm looking into this a little further because something's not right. One guy says go get the cat replaced and it'll pass and the other says something else. read more

I was charged for the smog test even though the car wouldn't communicate with the test machine. They wouldn't give me a refund when I took it to Tito's smog and it hooked up and passed there. I ended up paying twice for the smog testing. read more

I phoned to get an appointment and was told by an offsite receptionist that I could come right down; no waiting. I advised I was 5 minutes away. There was a sign on the door which read "At lunch. Return soon. " when I arrived. I phoned again. She stated she realized it was lunch once we hung up but i called from a blocked number. She offered I wait and receive a discount-$30 out the door including certificate. I agreed and waited not more than 10 minutes. The gentleman was very polite and apologetic. As I waited, (not more than 15 minutes)I thought about how unprofessional that appointment mishap was. When my name was called the tech said it was on the house due to the mix up! I was thrilled! Very great example of taking an opportunity to shift the dialogue and change a first impression!! Mistakes happen in life and business! Own up to them and fix what you can.
