My car needed a smog check for vehicle registration. Arrived, quickly taken in and smog check done quickly and for a reasonable fee.

Super helpful. I failed the first time because the car had sat for over a year. They knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. Passed the 2nd time! read more

Took my car there 3 pm on Tuesday 11/18/25 during posted 9 to 5 service hours and they were closed. Same thing happened several months ago. No explanation on the door, just locked and closed. Not a good way to run a business... so I went elsewhere and got my car smog checked. read more

this was my first smog service ever so I needed to find a spot that was affordable, and luckily thanks to an ad they had for a special pricing, I took full advantage of that opportunity, it wasn't even 15 minutes for the inspection and I passed right away, they're very prompt and to the point, for sure when my next service comes up I'll be down there! read more

Honest people. And if you don't pass smog you don't pay. Fast and reliable. They also offer coupons on their website.

This is the cleaness place ever and they are very professional they are honest they always seem to have coupon in penny saver, their kind i feel comfortable with them, other shops I've been to I've got screwed over, like from the one by Carl's Jr,on Oakdale Rd/Briggs more by the boat shop. read more

Everything is always great here. The "tall guy" at the front desk was very friendly and took care of my aunt and me right away and even gave us the coupon price, even though we forgot our coupon. Thank you Speedway Smog! We will be back. read more

Good business. Been going there for years. Make sure to take advantage of their $25 off coupon that's easy to find.

If You're a woman and need assistance. I don't recommend this place. Tall front desk guy is one rude MOTHER. Rude, hates life, hates me, hates his job. Couldn't even look me in the face while talking to me. He kept running away even when I was the only standing customer. Both times. Not returning. read more

This is the very Best place to go for Certified Smog Test. Speedway always is honest and does the best job! They get you in and out and on the road again while sending Certificate to DMV so you don't have to! Prices are very reasonable and if you use services regularly they send you reminders and coupons in the mail! read more

Fast and Affordable. I saw someone mention the customer service, but there really isn't an issue with it. The guy up front is efficient and tries to get you in and out. He's not being rude, that's just his personality; don't knock him for it. If you want someone to sweet talk with go to a sales person. If you want a smog for a good price and quick service, go to Speedway. They even tell you there's a coupon on their website. read more

They have a good coupon for $25 off, but the front desk guy (tall dude) has zero customer service skills and hates his job. He probably drives business away read more

Tried calling first but asked to get there and my car will be taken cared for the smog check. Speedway always do a great job. You don't have to wait very long even if they are busy. Had been going there for my cars smog test needs. Strongly recommended. read more

Got my oil changed today and Prestin S. was very professional and polite. He got me out of there quickly. They are always great!

Ok same name, different location, different owners, and much better service. After being stood up at a different smog facility with the same name, I remembered this place and decided to see if they could work my vehicle in. After expressing my disappointment at the other smog testing station, I was told this location has a different owner. Not only did they work my vehicle in without an appointment, they also honored the other station's $25 off coupon. Looks like I've found a new place for my smog testing needs. read more

I brought my 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 into their shop. When the car was seen the tech opened the hood, saw my after-market intake filter and the E.O., then continued using visual inspection. He saw a "catch-can" (aka crankcase gas filter) attached to my PCV line (legal in Calif according to B.A.R.) and instantly told me that it was an illegal modification and he discontinued the checks, asking me to leave, he was done. Nothing he could do withOUT an "executive order" sticker for that "Catch-can". I went home and did some research. It's legal. Then I called B.A.R. and personally spoke to a agent. He affirmed that a "Catch-can" is LEGAL. I called the station and told them I had just got a "green light" from the authority in charge of SMOG checks in California. He said "take it to another Smog station, he would NOT pass the vehicle withOUT a "E.O. sticker. They are 100% WRONG and don't care. Even with documentation they denied my second inspection. A "racket" in my opinion. It doesn't matter why they were afraid to allow that part. They were closed minded and didn't care one wit what I could prove. That's irresponsible, unfair, and should actually be illegal for them to "make stuff up" when unsure. All they would have had to do is call the B.A.R. like I did. Nuff said. STAY AWAY FROM SPEEDY SMOG CENTER on Orangeburg Ave. They are using their own rulebook. Not the State of Ca. read more

I recently had to get my car smog checked for the first time and as a young female, I was honestly kind of worried about getting ripped off. However, this was not the case here! The tall gentleman (maybe the owner, not too sure!) who helped my girlfriend and I out was friendly and efficient. We were in and out in less than a half hour! I'm definitely making this place my go-to when smog check time comes around. read more

Very nice . Was done in 20 minutes. Great place to go to for your smog . He even got busy. We were in and out of there

I would not recommend. Terrible service. Straight up told me I don't want to smog your truck because it's lifted and I don't want to climb on a ladder to check the engine. Take your car to Smogs Unlimited. read more

Really horrible place to go to. There's other shops around town with much better customer service. Workers here are not friendly, and are rough with vehicles. read more

My wife and I have been taking our cars to Speedway Smog for many years and we refer our friends there too. The Owner and staff are friendly, professional and helpful. The only time we ever had to wait for a few minutes was one time we went on a Saturday morning and they were really busy and we didn't have an appt. In the past, we have used the Mchenry shop and Oakdale Rd. shop which they've moved from. Today just took our older car to the new shop on Orangeburg Ave., and the car was in and out in minutes. This shop is bigger and very nice. The negative reviews seem odd. Our experiences have been consistently pleasant over the years and prices have been very reasonable. We use coupons too. read more

I've been going to speedway smog shop now for a little over 4 years. Always professional and always friendly. Never have had a negative experience. As a small business owner myself, I strongly recommend these guys. read more

This place is great! A++ I have been coming here for years and have never had any issues getting my car smogged. The staff have always made me feel right at home and kept me in the loop if there were any issues. I'm usually in and out within 30 minutes. The few negative reviews being left on here all seem to stem from people complaining about having to pay after they have failed. Keep in mind it's not the smog station's responsibility if your car fails to pass the test nor should they have to keep running your car through "for free" until you do pass. If you even have the smallest suspicion that your car may not pass (and most people do), then invest the money in taking it to a mechanic who can run a diagnostic test and work on the issue! read more

Great friendly people dont understand the negative reviews had no problems what so ever, done withing 10 min for only 40$ great service

Unfortunately will not go back. The employee was a total jerk in front of my wife and 4 kids. I asked a question and a few minutes later asked it again to verify something else and he replied "I just told you that 2 min ago" he was rude even before that. He needs to be trained in customer service. read more

Late review: came here after having some work done. Told me to come back since I just had the repair done, to allow the computer adjust. So I did two weeks later and was in and out. Good fast service. ***They have coupon in one of the mailers I have seen before. read more

I have been going for years to this location to smog all of my 4 vehicles. Today I took my truck for smog and when I got it back the drive outside door handle was broken ( unable to open the door from the outside ) So i went back inside to ask the employee he new what he done because he gave me attitude as i was asking him. I spoke to the owner and he told me things happen and their is nothing i can do for you. I was a technician for Toyota/Lexus dealers for 20 years and anytime something broke we would replace i understand accidents happen but let do things wright for the customer. Verry bad customer service never again going back to this place. read more

I love coming here for my service! The staff is friendly and the waiting room is very clean and cozy. Their service is always quick enough that I have plenty of time to get my smog done on my lunch! Speedway Smog Center - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Modesto, California

This place was very convenient fast and the people were nice I'll definitely come again.

Great place good price friendly Best Place to get a Smog Recommend this place for sure..5 star for sure read more

I needed a smog check for my car and literally called so many places and they quoted me $65+ dollars for a smog check on a 2014 car. I even called one place another place in Modesto of Kansas and was told that the smog check is $68 and I will still have to pay for the certificate and the electronic filing to the DMV. I still checked around and came across Speedway so I called and spoke to Sergio who quoted me a lower rate so of course I went with him. Shoot times are rough!! LOL... anyways upon arrival the place was SUPER clean, smelled good ( most smog places look and smell like an auto garage in an industrial area) and was greeted once my fiancé and myself walked in. My service was done quickly, we were there less than 20 minutes and he also told me that smog places automatically submit your smog check electronically to the DMV no charge. So the other place was trying to get over on people, which is a shame. I recommend anyone who is looking for a smog check business to give Speedway on Orangeburg a call. Well worth it. Thank you Sergio!!!!! read more

Terrible customer service. Employees and owner were lazy and rude. Last time I'll ever go there.

I made an appointment on Monday to schedule my smog test for the next day. Before gaining entry to the office, there was a tray with gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer, and a donation container (rightfully so) for the supplies. The office was clean and the service was great. What I experience was speedy, professional service. Definitely this business will get recommendations from me. read more

Should have checked Yelp first, but had a coupon. Now will cost me morel If you don't pass the first time, expect to pay 19.95 again. When I told him other places advertise, pass or don't pay....the guy said that won't happen in Modesto. Guess what....it does. I think they put the coupons in the little books to get money for doing NOTHING. I'd keep right on speeding by the Speedway Smog Center!! read more

Very expensive compared to other smog facilities. Beware, their prices are more expensive than the other Speedway Smog Center on McHenry Ave. Totally got ripped off at this location on Oakdale Rd. Rude employees too! I don't recommend them at all! read more

I had two vehicles I needed to smog the same day. Called and set the appointments for later that morning. Each car was in and out in less than 15 minutes, and the guy that ran the counter was great - very courteous and pleasant to talk to.
