This is the 3 time I try this place never could they smog my cars so I give up first time I took a old Honda back in 2020 and they said they couldn't smog it due to needing a part I scanned the car with my tool everything was green and ready to go took it over to other shop passed smog flawless also took a BMW m5 few years ago said that OBD reader didn't work or didn't connect to the machine took it to other place flawless Smog today 02/18/25 I took my wife's old Nissan for a smog check tags are due until month 04/25 had time to take it took there cause I got a hair cut next door same car is salvage title due to being hit and rebuilt I check all stickers on hood and it didn't have labels on doors to due to paint I had this car for over 9 years have smoged it since I had the car you could clearly see the vin number you really can't see the last number it's just 01 guy said I needed to go to Cho and get a blue sticker after 9 years I have to verify my car paying tags every single year guys said if I had it smog smog check could be fines 15k and shut down I took it to 2 places and they all said and check my dmv paper and old reg and check the cars vin and said they could do it no problem and now I have my tags I really don't recommend this place they just wanna scan and go to easy money instead of trying to help customers they go the easy route go do all that and then come and we can help you just get a scan and pay fee and here goes ur smog smh ima have to open a smog shop my self. After a friend's recommendation I thought I'd give this place and chance. Needless to say I was not disappointed. Owning a 1989 vehicle some of the other smog shops that I've gone to have refused to smog my car. Why? I don't know. Some have made lame excuses such as "oh our machine is down right now" or they only take certain years. So I gave up and asked around. So I ended up here and the technician "Alexis" took care of me right away. 15 minutes later I'm out with my smog papers passed and satisfied with the service. Fast, friendly service. I didn't pass the test but that doesn't matter, it happens. These guys are more than willing to answer your questions. They even offer registration and tags service, which is a lot easier than having to drive to the DMV afterwards or wait for the tags in the mail. They even recommended a repair shop, which I don't think is exactly legal but it is helpful. I went home after failing and replaced my PCV valve, vacuum hoses and spark plugs. I will be taking advantage of their free 30 day retest service soon! The only problem I had was that I had to wait over an hour before they got to my car. But that's partially my fault. I should have made an appointment. Another thing is that I failed because of high HC's. (Hydro Carbons), and they said that there was black smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I did not see any black smoke, only grayish. But this did alert me to the fact that my spark plugs and vacuum lines were bad. Hopefully when I go back for my retest I pass! read more

The staff at Stanislaus Smog are very nice, I literally just got my notice in the mail today that I needed to get my car smogged and I called 10 min before they were closing, without a hassle or complaining they told me they had one car in front of mine and it would be about a 10 min wait and asked if I would be ok with that? Most definitely!!! If you have been here before (as I have) they call you by name and treat you as friend and not just someone they don't care about! They are really friendly, I would recommend them to anyone I know! The best part is you can also pay an extra fee to get your tags right there and then and you don't have to worry about going to the DMV to stand in line (unless you like to people watch lol) it's just one less headache if you ask me!! read more

The prospect of me going to get my car smogged is always so dismal...usually I end up in a place where its either too cold/hot or dirty and no seating.....well not here. It was a cold foggy day when I was calling around around for prices, the price was right and in no time I was there taking care of my car. The young man who I believe was the owner was very polite and courteous..a rare character trait seen in the automotive industry. I sat in the lil waiting room surrounded by floor heaters trendy bamboo screens and nice seating. I dont even think I was even there 5 mins it was so quick. I could see that the owner had made a conscious effort to make it friendly for his customers. I wish the best of luck to him with his business.
