Everything bagel with egg and sausage, but not my sausage

I'd much rather eat McDuffie's than McDuff's, which are Scottish versions of some of the worst and most overrated Wings in Buffalo. But this little cute bakery in Clarence does not sell Wings. They sell all sorts of other goodies. I'm sad that 3 good friends gave this place 3 or less, partly because I rate their opinions, and partly because this bakery doesn't deserve it. Some of their items are magnificent. I'm very glad that the overall rating is a 4.5 because it deserves to be, and I will add to that with this 5-star review. What to get: Any of the soups What else: Chili is incredible And: Not a huge fan of the bread But: Some of their sweet treats are brilliant, such as insanely good Shortbread So: I'm not the DUFF. I've been working out. Don't call me the DUFF. Maybe just the DUF. Adorable dining area. Tiny but perfect. You can sit here for hours and enjoy soup after soup while getting full on the free samples of Shortbread. Service is pretty good, usually. The soups and Chili are some of the best in town. They're extremely fattening, and they may put a lot of butter, or something, in them, because they don't taste healthy but my gosh do they taste delicious. A lot of the old people that my friends look after, often ask me to bring them some McDuffie's Soup when I visit my friends at work, because they have become addicted, and so have I. I've just been informed via text: stuffed banana pepper and sausage soup at mcduffies today. So I'll be stopping by to give that a try and I have no doubt it will be exquisite, heavy, unhealthy, and worth it like Fifth Harmony. Some of the bread is good, some of it is a little dry, muffins and cakes aren't amazing, so I can see why people would give it a low result based on the bread. But that's a shame because they're missing out on the real gems here. The Shortbread here is insanely good. Scottish-style buttery cookies basically. So good you could literally eat it all day. Magnificent. So if you want to remix a track, go to McDub's (Calvin Harris works there), or if you have a lot of trash, go to McDump's (also known as McDonald's), but if it's amazing shortbread and heavenly soups that you are after... head to this lovely little Scottish-influenced bakery on Main in Clarence.

Stopped in after a long bike ride for a breakfast sandwich and coffee and was surprised how much they have to offer! Lots of baked goods, fresh breads, big breakfast and lunch menu(was serving either or) and a lot of frozen items you can take to go and bake yourself. I had a sausage breakfast sandwich on a bagel wotha side of home fries and it was pretty basic but still good. Service was great and prices reasonable. I want to go back and try some of the breads and the frozen pierogi- they have buffalo chicken if your feeling adventurous! Great little place with small outdoor seating too for a nice summer day in buffalo!

I've been to McDuffies many times. Usually for pot pies or baked goods. I've ate lunch in and it was delicious too. Since I was at my doctors office next door, it was a good idea to stop in. In today's world, the sit down area is closed. There also is more limited selection of baked goods but plenty of frozen items. They seem to rotate items so if you're looking for something specific, you may want to call ahead. Only 3 people allowed in the store at once and people were cool about that. I bought a loaf of country white and a loaf of cranberry nut bread (which is deliciously sweet). I was going to get a pot pie but they seem to have gone up in price a bit. They are very good and worth the price but I looked around. Then I saw the pizzas. I've had them before but haven't seen them in ages. They are a little reminiscent of the pizza breads bakery's like Burzynskis used to make but much better. Baked in a tin round, it's a thick chewy dough covered in mozzarella and cup & char pepperoni. The sauce is thinly spread beneath so it's not wet. It was also available in just cheese and a good looking roasted vegetable. I was really glad I stopped in!

Ask the ladies at an antique mall and the said to try McDuffies Bakery, good choice! You walk in and to the right is their soup and sample table. They usually have 5 home made soups, that you can sample and then have a 16 ounce cup for a side. Dian had their Mayan sandwich (Turkey, pepper Jack cheese, blue cheese crumble, tomatoes and Chipotle Aioli on country white) and Italian Wedding soup. The Berkshire (homemade meatloaf topped with BBQ sauce, sauteed onions and American cheese on, surprisingly home made rye) and (after trying all the soup choices, settle on) seafood bisque were superior! Then pick out cookies for the flight home, yum. I am only giving four stars...I'd give them 4 and half if I could figure out how, because the help was super...is they listed giant pierogies and they looked delicious, but you cant order them to eat for lunch. Recommend they change their minds!

3-egg omelette with home fries and an enormous and delicious English muffin

I liked this little gem in Clarence! The baked goods are why you come to a bakery, but I read that they also had breakfast, and since we were staying right down the street, in we came. The coffee was self serve out of thermoses but still good and hot. I could have tried anything in the display cases; it all looked authentically tasty. (We are homestyle bakery challenged where I live.) I wanted one of those homemade English muffins noted on the menu - wow - tasty and enormous. The omelette and potatoes that came with it were good but everything had a lot of butter or oil applied. I forgot to order the muffin "dry" and regretted that omission. Hubby had the Scottish French Toast which was 3 enormous slices of cinnamon swirl bread with a sweet cinnamon spread on top. A bit much in the sweet department but tasty if you have a sweet tooth. Service was very friendly and I would go there again but specify less oil/butter. Prices were great, atmosphere casual and homey.

It's a cute place but they never asked if I wanted my bagel toasted, they just took it right to the back and toasted it. I posted a photo of the cream cheese on my bagel...there's like none.

Maybe it's me but I don't get the hype. Granted, my review is solely for a yogurt cake, cupcakes, a muffin, and loaf of bread. I haven't had the sandwiches or soups or chicken pies, which may all be amazing. My mom wanted a birthday cake from McDuffie's, so we drove out to get one. Why, in the age of instant gratification by even simply calling, she didn't call ahead baffles me, but she tends to be old school. Meh. So we got to McDuffie's and there are no birthday cakes there. They had some small yogurt ring cakes and of course several different baked goods, including cupcakes. So we got 2 cupcakes, a yogurt cake, dad got a carrot muffin, and we got both a loaf of honey whole wheat bread, and English muffin bread. This place is quaint inside. Nothing fancy or special. The people working were okay, not overly friendly. We learned they don't have a bread slicer. Huh. You claim to use 3 tons of flour per week but have no bread slicer... Odd. So we get our stuff home... I have to say, the breads are really good. The honey wheat is really good toasted! But the breads are the only items I might return for... First, the carrot muffin had barely any evidence of containing carrot. It was very sweet and just okay. The cupcakes were okay, the chocolate better than the white cake, but nowhere near amazing. Also very sweet with tons of frosting. The yogurt cake... HORRIBLE. Crumbled apart, super dry, didn't have a good taste to it at all. This item should be discontinued in all seriousness. Would I return? Probably not. Ohlson's, not far from this location, has much better sweet items, and it's closer to home for me. Though I'd love to try soup or sandwich or even a chicken pie, I'm not sure I will be back. But maybe. And hopefully I'll find the items that deserve the 4+ star rating here.

    Chicken Pot Pie for 4...
    John S.

These chicken pot pies are LEGIT! The rumors are true -- eat in or take one to go. Perfectly flaky, proportioned stuff inside. No nonsense...good chicken, sauce and flavorful beyond belief. Give yourself some time to cook it at home (an hour for a family size) or get the individual and go to town. Oh, and the soups are fresh and absolutely amazing! Lobster Bisque?!? Don't mind if I do!

A giant cupcake painted on the wall adds even more drama to the whole picture. I agree, I'm not the one who should judge the taste of cupcakes, but what I tried was very good. The texture of Cookies and Cream was moist with a firm beautifully swirled frosting made of vanilla buttercream. The Butterfinger was even better. The best thing about my experience was that it didn't feel like eating pure sugar. All ingredients were nicely balanced and truly satisfying. We visited on Saturday very early afternoon. I knew the best way to have what is most desirable is pre ordering. From the eight kinds of cupcakes offered this day, we were able to have just two. Everything else was already sold out. Babycakes Cupcakery offers more than just regular cupcakes. I saw photos of beautifully decorated mini cakes and jumbo cupcakes. I would definitely treat someone I like with their luscious creations. I enjoyed it fully on my special day.

I had read about legendary cinnamon scones and have been a huge scone kick (especially cinnamon!), so I had to try them. Not only do they make cinnamon though, they take a unique approach to their fruit scones by filling them with fruit jelly, so of course I tried a lemon blueberry filled scone too. The filled ones are better in theory than practice. The lemon flavor of the dough was almost nonexistent and the blueberry jam didn't spread well enough to help out the other lacking flavors. The cinnamon scone absolutely could have potential, but unfortunately mine was overly hard and crumbly - I wish I had asked for a specific, newer and lesser-baked one, but such is life :)

I will discuss three different run ins with Gabrielle's. First one - I went there in January to grab some sweets for a little crafting party I was hosting. I ordered both gluten free items and non gluten free items. The woman working, who was new, proceeds to ask me if she can put the non gf and the gf in one container. I said absolutely not. How can you not be trained on this, or not know not to do that. Why would I be ordering gf items, if I'm going to agree to put them in the same container. It defeats the purpose. Second time - Valentine's Day. My husband and I had a tradition of going to support Gabrielle's on Valentine's Day because they offered different gf items and a romantic atmosphere. This was our third time attending since living in the village. We arrived right when they opened, and they weren't opened yet, which was fine. When the owner unlocked the door, she wasn't very friendly. I let it slide, and continued to choose to visit Gabrielle's because I loved the baked goods and breakfast sandwiches. Third time - I stopped in on my way to an event to get a breakfast sandwich. It was about 10 minutes after they opened on a Saturday. It was quite busy there. There were roughly 2 or 3 tables occupied throughout my half hour stay.  Most notably there was a mom and daughter there. I'll get back to that in a minute. When I arrived, I was the only one at the counter. The same girl from the first not great encounter was making coffee behind the counter. That is fine. What wasn't fine, was that she didn't acknowledge me at all and I waited there awkwardly to put my order in for a good 5 minutes. Weird, that you wouldn't say, "Hi, it will just be a minute, as I'm working on another order,"  or something like that. The owner also came out of the kitchen during this time and took several Door Dash orders, but also didn't acknowledge me standing there. All I needed was a Hi, I'll be right with you. Something. I felt like a ghost. Fast forward, woman takes my order. It is for a gluten free breakfast sandwich. I sit down and wait. I wait for a solid half hour for my breakfast sandwich to be complete. During this time, the mother and daughter duo go up to the counter and say that they told the woman when they ordered that they needed to get everything by 9am, and it was 9am, and they still hadn't gotten their sandwiches yet. Why does it take a half hour to make 2 breakfast sandwiches?! They finally get their order and leave. The woman goes from the kitchen to the counter and is yelling to the owner, "If they wanted their food faster, they should have went to Tim Hortons." There was me and about 2 other tables present for that. I thought that statement was absolutely horrific and disgusting. Everyone who came through Gabrielle's and who goes to Gabriele's chooses to spend their money locally. To help a local family and support their business. To say that in front of customers, is abhorrent. I finally got my breakfast sandwich and left. I ruminated this for a while and decided against posting this review and emailing them directly about how this comment was unwarranted and not ok and the employee should be reprimanded. I received no reply back. This happened in February and it is now May. I have not received any acknowledgement regarding that my comment was received. I can only take it as the owner and employees don't care. Thus, I'm posting my review.   Not to mention that they claim to sell fresh bread on Saturdays, and there were a couple customers who arrived asking to purchase the fresh bread, and were told it was still rising and would be ready around 1 pm or so. What?! You would think they would be more in a hurry to get their bread out on a Saturday morning. That is when people want to eat fresh bread. It breaks my heart that I can't support this business anymore because the baked goods are so delicious, but I'm going to support other local businesses that value their customer base and are happy that the customers who walk through their doors want to support local.

The shop is very cute, lots of gnomes, rubber ducks, and fun quotes showcasing the owners' sense of humor. The owner was actually very helpful and gave me tips on how to best enjoy my baked goods. I got ten items for a very reasonable price! Sweet roll: one of their popular items. A roll with warm sugar and cinnamon on the inside and gooey frosting on top, but I can see why they don't advertise it as a cinnamon roll. It doesn't smack you in the face with that cinnamon flavor, but has all the other good parts of the roll. Blueberry muffin: not too sweet and chock full of blueberries and streusel topping! Turnovers: I wasn't a fan of the icing sugar topping, but the puff pastry was light and flaky. I'm sure if I was home and was able to pop it in the oven it would have been amazing! Cupcakes: this was a surprising gem for me. I generally find cupcakes and their frosting to be too sweet, but the actual cake was light on the sugar and balanced well with the buttercream. The cake felt a little dry, but my cupcake was chocolate flavored and sometimes that has an innate dryness to it. I looked online, and they actually have a crazy amount of cool flavors! I gave a friend a bite and she was equally amazed and commented that "she could taste the butter." Wait. Hold on. This isn't healthy, is it? Damn. I thought..maybe it was? Well, it is. It's healthy for the soul. That's it. Yes. 5 stars for the dessert. 3 stars for the coffee. I'd love to see some Stumptown or artisan-roasted coffee brewed here with a lot of love. Then again, we do have a truck for that (Rolling Joe's).
