Came here for a work lunch with a provider who happens to be a friend. We have been DREAMING about this place since we set the date a few weeks ago, so expectations were high and thankfully, this place delivered. We walked in knowing immediately that we were going to have to share. Last time she was here, she had the Six and confessed that she wasn't sure she could ever bring herself to order anything else. So, naturally, we had to get it. Mortadella, fig jam, banana peppers, ricotta, and arugula. I know. It sounds like someone opened the refrigerator and said, "Let's just see what happens." But somehow, those bold, strong flavors work SO well together. It was definitely a messy sandwich, but you know you're in good company when there's a giant stack of napkins between you and you're both laughing while trying to keep the fillings from escaping. I also knew we had to try the Noons. It's basically a focaccia-style pizza, which is exactly as wonderful as it sounds. This one didn't have a description on the menu, but staff said he's been calling it "Figgy Piggy." Figs, prosciutto, and caramelized onions. Buffalo friends, I'm telling you, you NEED to try this. And then came the bakery treats. We decided we needed three because apparently neither of us believes in moderation when pastries are involved. Later that night, I dove into my double chocolate cookie, and WOW. I was very impressed. I'm pretty sure they use some dark or bittersweet chocolate because it wasn't overly sweet. The chocolate flavor was rich and perfect, and the texture was chef's kiss. My friend had the strawberry shortbread, which she absolutely loved. She said it tasted like she was eating cheesecake in cookie form, and honestly, I don't think you could give a better description than that. So yes, I am officially inviting everyone in Buffalo to come here. They have some tables inside and a couple outside, making this the perfect spot for a lunch date, a catch-up with a friend, or simply making questionable decisions about how many pastries you "need." read more

Giving 2 stars simply because there were almost no pastries left to try when I arrived. I arrived on a Saturday around 12:30 and almost everything was sold out besides some pizza. I had only come here for the croissants , but was unfortunately not able to try any. So I would suggest getting here early if you want one! They don't close until 3 pm so I just find it odd that by 12:30 they would be completely sold out. I did end up getting a latte and it was pretty good, however I had to opt for almond milk as they were out of oat. The barista was very nice and quick! I will definitely try to come back here earlier and update my review once I am able to try some pastries. read more

Let me start by saying the reviews and the posts have been great to watch and it makes you want to run to see the greatness. I saw beautiful croissants, stuffed croissants and all sorts of sweet treats and breads. So I decided to make my way there today coming from Lockport to give support and try. I walked into a bakery with a mostly EMPTY case and the few items there seemed to have been there for a while. The few things on presentation were a bit overcooked or burned. Apparently the bakery closes at 3 and we arrived at noon. While I'm not surprised the options would be limited. I wouldn't think there would be NOTHING AT ALL. I inquired if there was anything in the back and was told no. So instead of it being a wasted trip I opted to try a sandwich. Unfortunately the picture of the sandwich and what I received were not the same. My sandwich was FULL of Arugula. It overpowered the sandwich. There was very little roast beef and the bread was so hard I couldn't even bite it. I ended up taking the insides out and eating it that way. I did notice there was a rack with sourdough in the store and it was much darker than I am used to seeing. Apparently that's what we got. The price ($20.00) seriously doesn't match the product. I'm deeply disappointed if this is a new business. Consider your price point Consider batch baking so that you can refresh your shelves If darker bread is a preference for the baker, that doesn't mean it's a preference of the consumer. Sourdough bread is usually harder anyway, but overlooking it makes it worse. Otherwise the restaurant was clean. If you walk in know what you want because the counter or the line kinda meets you at the door. We experienced standing and waiting a while before being greeted. read more

I mistakenly ordered the same sandwich i had ordered back in january! i was in a hurry, meant to order a different number. sandwich wasn't as good as i remembered (the processed meats were a bit salty for me), but it was good. service was really quick and pleasant, especially given that i was there during the lunch crush and all the sandwiches are made to order. Weather was significantly different than last visit, so enjoyed lunch at one of their tables on their small, L shaped patio on the Senecas St. side of the building. The umbrella was large enough to provide good shade. looking forward to returning and ordering what i meant to order! read more

Light-filled, welcoming space, with serious food on offer downstairs, and loft seating upstairs among plants. I love artists. When I saw the dangling hock of prosciutto di Parma over the sandwich station, they had me at, "hello"! (See posted pictures of the menu for all the glorious choices with prosciutto). I tried a tomato danish, which had a thin slice of provolone cheese underneath, which nicely tied the flavors together. The architecture of the pastry was incredible: Flaky on the outside, chewy on the inside: Yum! The parking lot behind Artigana is small, and likely to fill at peak times, but Exchange Street is near, and quiet, and has extra parking. read more

Welp, Butter Block was closed and I had already decided in my mind that I wanted to take croissants for a work meeting. Google did not fail me. I was able to meet the owner and try a variety of baked goods. Breakfast flats on fresh breads, stuffed croissants, fresh fruit Danish. EVERYTHING was delicious. Service was welcoming and attentive. Place is very charming with an upstairs sitting area as well well. So good to know that I have more fresh croissant options. Brava! read more

5/5 all the way around for taste and service. The owner is a gem and so sweet. We were the first people in today and she let us in and greeted us. She asked if we were looking for anything special and answered all of our questions- just a lovely person! The food itself is almost indescribable- the textures of the flaky croissants was something unlike I've ever had. It was sort of extra baked and really delicious. So many layers of butter and flaky crust, just so incredible. The Asiago and everything bun was my favorite item. It was buttery and salty and everything just fit together perfectly with the Asiago cheese in it. For a sweet item I absolutely recommend the cannoli croissant! Stopped in for the first time today. It's an unassuming spot but absolutely delicious! I ordered an iced almond milk vanilla latte which was tasty! I also got a stuffed croissant and #2 breakfast sandwich. Their croissants are perfectly flaky and buttery! The breakfast sandwich was melt in your mouth with great fresh flavors. Yes this a bakery.. But when I say, this place is all about the sandwiches. Then best believe me, when I say it's all about the sandwiches. They also serve breakfast sandwiches, but I ordered the Eleven. Which is the roast beef sandwich. OMG... I think this is probably the best sandwich on the menu. There's an art to a good sandwich. The main components include warm, fresh bread, simple but high quality ingredients, and a nice sauce to tie it all together. Artigiana has mastered this. My sandwich came on warm, soft, freshly made focaccia. The toppings were simple - arugula, roasted tomato, thinly sliced cucumber, and thinly sliced Italian deli meat. It was all married with a little oil and vinegar. The building is brand new and very nice! I took my order to go today, but would gladly sit upstairs with a book and take my time. There's one word to describe their pastries: *~DECADENT~* I stopped by in the morning to grab a box of pastries, but I think I'll need to come back for the sandwiches given how good the pastries were! The viennoiserie were super buttery and flaky, with a delectable crunch. They are GIANT pastries, so definitely worth the higher price point $$ Plain croissant: gotta have a regular croissant for comparison! Crusty exterior, with a soft and velvety mouth-feel on the inside. One of the better plain croissants I've had in the past 12 months Everything Asiago Morning bun: my favorite out of the bunch, I think. It was super rich and had a the cheese gave the bun a bit of extra pizzazz~ Pistachio stuffed croissant: It had a real pistachio flavor, not a fake green sugar flavor if you know what I mean. I can't say it enough, but the way the pastries are made here are impeccable. Cannoli stuffed croissant: a nice tang to the cannoli cream, but it was a bit too sweet for my taste. As pictured, I got a couple of other pastries that I wasn't able to try out, but the coworkers were all asking about where I got the goods so I'm guessing the rest of it was tasty as well! I'm a big sucker when a business has an identity and they don't cut corners in their product. Love everything about the Italian menu and bread. While it's near impossible to decide on which pastry to try, the croissants and cinnamon rolls are HUGE and definitely shareable. My cannoli croissant was flaky, moist, and just delicious. Our sandwiches were even better. The fresh bread, with an amazing pistachio basil pesto, egg, arugula, and plenty of prosciutto was a meal fit for a king. We will definitely be back to try more sandwiches like the Cuban and the house made Italian sausage. Service was excellent and the shop itself was very cozy and rustic. My only thought that'd make it better was if they have a bigger coffee bar with local coffee. Come now before there is a constant line around the building. read more

I'm always so excited when I hear about a new bakery and this one sounded especially charming. And I'm so happy to say it did not disappoint. Though it was a bit confusing to figure out how to get into when coming down Seneca St from the direction of Larkinville. since it's surrounded by fencing and something else is going up between it and another building. There's a driveway at the end of the three buildings and you have to turn in to a driveway and go behind said buildings to park. There are construction vehicles in the back that you pass to get to the back door. Inside it was a bit crowded with people eating in and the rest of us getting our orders to go trying to make our way around each other. After all that there are a variety of savory and sweet selections to choose from. The artisanal pizza was delicious!! Fresh tomatoes along with fresh herbs on a crunchy dough were heavenly. The cinnamon sugar flakey croissant roll was incredible!!! So many layers of delicious buttery messy goodness !!! The cinnamon bun was good and had a nice pull to the dough but I happen to like a gooier dough with a bit more frosting but it was still delicious. And the chocolate chip cookie was full of chocolate chips.... Packed with them!! They also have a variety of fresh baked bread hot out of the over to choose from. I grabbed a crusty sourdough still toasty and warm. So definitely well worth stopping in don't pass up the pizza or those flaky cinnamon rolls!!! read more

New spot near Seneca and Smith in South Buffalo. I've driven pass a few times so decided to give them a shot. The restaurant is very nice, clean and staff is very friendly. They do sandwiches as well as freshly baked goods. I only tried the sandwich which was turkey, tomato and arugula on a soft roll. I think cheese may have been added even though not mentioned and that could have been why the flavor was off to me. It was okay but not something I'd line up for. Also, that sandwich was about $18. For that much I feel like chips and a soda could be included. read more

After seeing this place on local tv last year, I finally made it there for the Sourdough Bread. My high expectations were not met. I bought two loaves, and both loaves were so hard on bottom, I couldn't cut it very easily. The bread was decent, but due to rock hard bottom, I won't be returning. read more
