The almond square reminded me a bit of an almond ring, with almond paste filling layered inside a flaky, tender, buttery pastry. It had that rich almond flavor without being overly sweet, and the texture was spot on. The pistachio snack cake was soft, moist, and delicately nutty--simple but really satisfying. Almost teacake-like. The cranberry orange scone brought a nice contrast with bright citrus flavor and tart cranberries throughout. It had a great crumb and just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Loved the dried orange pieces. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. Definitely a spot worth stopping by if you're in the mood for excellent pastries!

Two things worth mentioning: There's a small seating area downstairs, and five large tables upstairs. The stairs? A polite way of describing them is, "grandfathered-in". The rise/run makes it difficult to navigate if you're in thick boots, carrying a child, or have stiff knees. The pastry had a beautiful crunch. I enjoyed the almond flavor. And then I found: cherry preserves? I'm aware that "croissant et confiture" (eaten with jam) is a standard French breakfast, but it did change the mouth feel of the treat. Then once you add on tax and a tip you've already dropped $13-$15 for just two scones. Last time I bought two scones, a cupcake, and a cookie and it was $35 (and only 1 scone & 1 cookie were vegan). There are quite a few tables inside to stop and have a meal. Though after looking at the menu it seems there's only 1 vegan option and for me, it's not worth the price. Parking can be a challenge as you'll have to park in the main lot which can fill up, especially during peak hours. I asked when she was opening the store that I have been eyeing for ages. Well over once a week, as I pass by there many times a week. She said they are open. And have been for a while. I can't wait to try more, but I'll have to stop by Thur-Sun after 12 noon. But they are open into the evenings many days, great for the Allentown restaurant and bar crowd. Pick up a frozen treat this summer or a cookie instead of a grilled cheese from just down the road. Nice to have choices like that on Allen. If you have a specific thing you want to pick up I'd call in advance to make sure she has it that day or can make it for you. I was greeted at the door by the bestest boy/doggo named Teddy and someone who I assumed was one of the owners. I got ten items for a very reasonable price! Sweet roll: one of their popular items. A roll with warm sugar and cinnamon on the inside and gooey frosting on top, but I can see why they don't advertise it as a cinnamon roll. It doesn't smack you in the face with that cinnamon flavor, but has all the other good parts of the roll. Blueberry muffin: not too sweet and chock full of blueberries and streusel topping! Turnovers: I wasn't a fan of the icing sugar topping, but the puff pastry was light and flaky. I'm sure if I was home and was able to pop it in the oven it would have been amazing! Cupcakes: this was a surprising gem for me. I generally find cupcakes and their frosting to be too sweet, but the actual cake was light on the sugar and balanced well with the buttercream. The cake felt a little dry, but my cupcake was chocolate flavored and sometimes that has an innate dryness to it. I looked online, and they actually have a crazy amount of cool flavors! Between the two of us, we ended up ordering an iced latte, a molasses cookie, a peanut butter brownie and a chocolate almond pretzel pastry. The iced latte had a goodix of milk and espresso. The molasses cookie was perfectly soft yet chewy and had a great molasses flavor along with ginger and cinnamon. The peanut butter brownie was chewy and had a good amount of peanut butter buttercream frosting topping it. I ate the chocolate almond pretzel pastry at a later time and heated it in the air fryer for a few minutes. It was flaky, buttery and flavorful. I would definitely recommend Buttercrumbs & will return if I'm in the area.
