Super cute spot I have been wanting to check out! While the name suggests they def have cakes - they also have some delicious pastries for breakfast! We got the pistachio crossiant & the ham cheese crossiant along with chocolate chip cookies! The crossiants are the perfect mix of light fluffy and buttery! The cookies were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Definitely will be back to try a few more things. Cute little tables inside and perfect spot to grab a snack.

Snicker cake, cheesecake and blueberry tart

This bakery is located right in front of my sister's house and she raves about it. For my birthday she treated me to some of there treats. A slice of Snickers cake, cheesecake and a blueberry tart. It was a great introduction into her treats. I am not a big fan of chocolate cake, but the snickers slice was very good. It was moist and definitely tasted like a Snickers bar! Cheesecake is not my favorite dessert, but again it was good. The blueberry tart like was delicious. I know she makes several different flavors of these and looking forward to trying them all. Everything definitely tasted homemade and fresh.

The BEST carrot cake I've ever tasted

The drive to the new location was absolutely worth it. Great new space with beautiful desserts. So exceptionally happy with Cakes by Katya! Special ordered a carrot cake & they were very accommodating. Friendly customer service and the most delicious cake I've ever eaten! Rave reviews at the birthday party so pleased!

Lemon Raspberry

This business location is new to our area. Stopped in and ordered the lemon raspberry cupcake, vanilla cupcake and chocolate caramel. Also had a chocolate hazelnut cookie. All very delicious. Actually the lemon raspberry is so addicting. I will definitely be back. My only advice for this business is maybe a little more friendly. Would have been nice to learn more about this new location and the background. I grabbed my own menu, flyer and card. But it was end of day so maybe she was just over it lol. The inside is very clean and cute. And there are tables, chairs and they have a nice menu of refreshing beverages.

Just love Katya's. Always has so many selections of croissants, cakes, desserts, and coffees. My fav is the almond croissants. I visit to get one or two items and leave with a full box for my family. Katya herself is so friendly , always interacting with her customers. The staff is friendly and funny with smiles on their faces. The shop is bright and welcoming. If you haven't been there, go! And thanks to Katya for the local artisan bread shop tip! You were right, amazing.

Katya has amazing talent. She's made my daughter's birthday cakes for the past 2 years. She is very professional and her pricing is very reasonable in my opinion. Her cakes are made from scratch and I love supporting small businesses! Everything is made to order! You can get in touch with her via text or email to place an order! Will be a repeat customer!

Carrot cake, Strawberry and Vanilla Crunch Cupcakes. Pistachio and Walnut Baklava.

"Curiosity killed the cat". In my case, curiosity made me gain weight after visiting Katya's shop. "... but satisfaction brings it back". I wanted to check what the rumor was about, although I don't consume sugar too often. Sweet, sweet and beautiful treats. Everyone needs a moment for the pleasure of having a dessert. Cakes by Katya is a great addition to the culinary scene of Buffalo. This place is pretty from the inside out. Katya created such a welcoming space, offering all kinds of interesting forms of sweet treats. We tried three kinds of cupcakes, baklavas and an Eastern European Layered Sweet Sour Cream Cake. It was a bomb of flavours. Interesting fact, Katya uses local honey. Her father is a beekeeper. How cool is that!? It's good to remember that biting into delicious walnuts or pistachios baklava. It simply must be good for you:). She also uses real, beautiful, fresh flowers for her creations. Her cakes look like they came from a fairytale wonderland's factory. It would be my choice of cake for a special occasion to avoid extra heavy sugary decorations. Cake and a flower bouquet combo, I like that. I'm glad I learned about Katya and her business.

Absolutely delicious!! I had planned to try all the goodies I bought but I ate too much earlier and had to stare longingly at the beautiful box of gorgeous cake slices until my appetite finally returned!! But wow it was so worth the wait. I cut the three different slices of cakes into smaller slivers so that I could try them all. I would lay in traffic for more of the hazelnut Ferraro Rocca cake!!! If you love chocolate, hazelnut and amazing butter cream, that should be eaten at room temperature to allow the buttercream to soften, then you MUST RUN and get this cake. If I had any idea about the whole hazelnuts in there and the rich decadent flavors,I would have gotten a whole cake. Katya described the other two cakes beautifully the way only chefs can. But after the first look much less word I knew I was getting them. But in no way can I do them justice trying to tell you exactly what I selected except to say I remember hearing another chocolate buttercream and a salted Carmel buttercream. It matters basically not at all because they were absolutely delightful!!! The cupcakes were vanilla, strawberry and mocha. Coffee and chocolate are my number one but I have to say that strawberry and vanilla and the fun crunchy bits on top are really fun and tasty. I also had to try her pistachio baklava! Because somehow it didn't seem possible that she could make good baklava and buttercream too. But I was very wrong. They were delightful!! Perfectly stuffed and not dripping with too much syrup. Just the right balance. I bought brownies with her ganache on top and giant chocolate chip cookies. But I'm sorry I was stuffed and couldn't eat another bite!! I don't think you can make a bad choice at Katya's. So stop in or drive over its well worth the drive if you aren't around the corner because truly you won't be sorry.

Wow! Not only is this cake shop great but the owner Katya is so sweet. She used to make cakes from her home but now I think since April has now had this shop. While we were there someone was picking up a chocolate on chocolate (never too much chocolate) birthday cake. It looked amazing. On this visit we tried 3 different items. We got the brownie, chocolate cake, and 8 layer sour cream cake. They were all delicious! My weakness is brownies, had the perfect amount of chewiness and was my favorite. For anyone who's familiar with the neighborhood, her shop is located where the LaVerdad Cafe was until they got a new location down the street. Katya supplies baked good to LaVerdad so if you happen to crave them when she's not open you can always go down the street to get some of her wonderful treats there. 2021-105

Holy Moly this place is amazing! The beauty and care taken with making an inviting business is evident! The displays make your mouth water... then you try the bakery items and there is a taste explosion in your mouth! Katya is a friendly amazing baker with such a heartwarming story of her family's immigration to here... I'm so glad they're here ... the cakes and pastry is. To.die.for! We purchased baklava, cupcakes, cake slices and will be back for more! The items not only looked amazing but tasted even more amazing... everything was perfect, full of vibrancy and flavor!

Stopped in two weeks ago and had a great experience! Katya is fantastic and her desserts are seriously out of this world! We got a few cupcakes and a slice of chocolate cake and each of them were fantastic! She had a few varieties of cake by the slice while we were there, and a larger variety of cupcakes. Ordering was quick and easy, really can't wait to come back soon!

Went by after grabbing lunch at a nearby spot and I was not disappointed! The cakes and treats all looked delicious and it was hard to make choices because I wanted to try everything, haha! I settled on the brownie with peanut butter cream cheese on top ($2.50), the mini NY style cheesecake ($2.50), and the chocolate crunch cupcake ($2.75). All three were delicious with the brownie being my overall favorite with this rich cream on top and chewy perfection. The individual cake slices were $5 and I will definitely be returning back to try those in the future.

Very impressed with Katya's. Coming from a girl who isn't big into sweets, that's saying something! It's more of a take out place, but there are counters along the window and a table up front of you wanted to enjoy your sweets there. There is street parking along Lovejoy or the side streets and there is also a lot across the street for the school. I've parked there more than once on weekends without a problem, but can't guarantee that will always be the case. If there is street parking, take it. The walls are lined with beautiful creations. I absolutely fell in love with the two underwater themed cakes and found myself wondering what I could buy a fancy cake for. I did go for a Yelp Elite event and received a piece of her sour cream cake for review, and was very pleased with it. It has a nice level of sweetness without being overwhelming, definitely my kind of cake! We also purchased two each of the vanilla crunch and strawberry crunch cupcakes. If you get these, make sure you take them out of the fridge for a bit before eating as they are just perfect at room temperature, the frosting melts in your mouth. Again, these aren't overly sweet which is right up my alley. The crunch stood up really nicely this morning when we had them for breakfast (hey, it's my Birthday, so it's totally allowed). I was really surprised that it was only $11 for all four. They are normal size cupcakes, not the gargantuan sizes you see some places, but that is what I would prefer. I found the prices more than reasonable. Besides cupcakes there were the obvious cakes as well as baklava, cookies and brownies. Definitely a great place to indulge your sweet tooth! The storefront is new for the owner and on top of making tasty treats, she was so nice! I highly recommend heading there for sweets and supporting this local small business.

Oh. My. Word! First, I'll start with the one, single…read moredisappointing thing... The day we visited, they did not have any baked goods (they said they only have them on the weekend), so we couldn't try the peras de coco (coconut rolls). But, perhaps it was kind of a blessing because our picada was plentiful. The dining area isn't huge, but they also do take out. There are about 5 or so tables to dine in. The service was a tad slow, but very friendly; I believe there was only one person waiting, cooking & serving AND the food was more than worth the wait! We ordered the picada for 4 and my brother tried a Colombiana cola. He liked it a lot; it was lighter than a "normal" cola, non-carbonated and less sweet than cola around here. I don't drink pop and even when I did, I always hated colas. I can't say I'd drink a whole Colombiana, but I didn't find it disgusting & that's saying something. Now on to the star of the show, the picada! It was loaded with several different meats, plantains fixed in different ways, yuca & baby potatoes and 4 sauces. We were so excited when it was set down on our table, we dug in before we even got our silverware haha. The platter had chicken, steak, chicharron, chorizo, blood sausage, sausage, sweet plantain, fried plantain, fried yuca and Colombian potatoes. The sauces were: avocado sauce, mayo/ketchup, pico de gallo & a garlicky one. Everything was so, so flavorful and cooked perfectly! There was not one thing that any of us didn't like. If I had to pick my top contender of a meat and a non-meat item, I would choose the chicharron & sweet plantain.... But I hope to never have to make that choice! The chicharron were thick and crunchy. The sweet plantain were perfection. When we left we were each given a dulce de leche caramel. They also have a variety of Colombian snacks and candies for sale. They recently opened an additional, larger location at 951 Niagara Falls Blvd (it used to be El Palenque). We were told they will be keeping both locations open, but the new location will have some additional items that they don't serve at the Oliver St location. I cannot wait to visit again!!!

Came here back in December because my friend kept raving about the food. It's a combination of a…read morestore selling snacks/bakery/restaurant. Very limited seating inside. The food does take awhile because they make everything fresh so when you do get it, it is piping hot! The three of us got the Picada for 2 to share and the Caldo de Bola Res with grilled tilapia. It was more than enough to share and we had leftovers that we could eat for two more meals at home. Everything was well-seasoned and cooked well. Nothing tasted dry at all! The chicharron was my favorite so I got a separate order of just that to take home. Highly recommend and would definitely go there again!

Another find at the North Tonawanda Farmers Market - Bru Bakery -…read more They look Amish but I gather they are not. Regardless, they make terrific baked goods. Its run by a man who will come to recognize you after a few visits. We pick up fresh eggs there on occasion, but we go for the "tea cakes". I have not idea if these are called something else in a grocery store. But heres what they are. A small loaf of "bread", which is perfect with a morning coffee around 10. Its not for breakfast (at least not in our house), but perfect for a snack or treat with morning coffee or afternoon tea. There are a number of flavors, our favorites are the blueberry and the cranberry ones. These cakes are 8 or so inches long and 3 inches high so they last a few days only. Perfect, just in time for fresh ones Saturday. They do freeze well. He also has jams and jellies, which we often enjoy as well. There are cookies and various other sweets, all good on the occasions we have tried them. We found him years ago because of his smaller pies, perfect for just a few people, which are great. Raspberry and cherry are the favs on that one. They make a few sizes, we have always done the small ones. They freeze well too. All his products are very fresh. They are also well packaged, they will make it home no problem and no mess. If you are at the market for your fresh veges, stop by here and pick something up. You'll be back the next week. I am not sure, but I believe cash only. We only look for him Saturdays and know he's there then. Not sure about Tue or Thur. Also not sure if he's there only in the summer or year round. We go mostly from April-October.

North Tonawanda Farmers Market has clued me into many small ventures from the area. Jolie's…read moredumplings, Yommas spring rolls, and these cupcakes. I found them last year and was very impressed then. This year has only improved. They are there Thursdays and Saturdays all summer long. Some weekends they do some of the other local festivals, so check their FB page for updates. https://www.facebook.com/dmconfections Meanwhile, the cupcakes. Many varied flavors, some with cute names like the "Elvis" etc. Others are chocolate. Strawberry. Etc. These cupcakes are a good size, not too big, not too small, just right. They are generous with frosting, but its not overwhelming. Ive tried many of the regular flavors and many of the gluten free ones. If you pick out a gluten free with some others, they will package it differently if needed, without hesitation at all. Super focused on that. These cupcakes are creative and have fun names. I think they are a little sweet overall, but because they are packaged really well and the proprietors are just fantastic; I look forward to buying from them. They always have a smile and a moment to interact with customers. The cupcakes also store well for a day or two, just remember to take them out of the fridge a hour or so before eating them. Cupcakes are better room temp. 5 stars for the customer focus and general "being nice" 4 stars for the cupcakes, not all the flavors are consistent, and the gluten free, while very good, could be a little lighter I think. 5 stars for being very connected to the area and events in the area. They have not forgotten their roots. 5 overall. I hope they keep it up and continue to improve.

I went to the farmers market in north Tonawanda and I seen this stand. At first you think oh a…read morecupcake would be nice. Well I walked over got a great looking Swedish fish at first sight Well little did I know it was 2.00 for a cupcake? I paid it thinking over priced. Considering it takes .50 cents to make a cupcake. Maybe a batch So I bit into it. Let me tell you that the cupcake for 2.00 was rock hard frozen. Like biting into ice. The frosting was overloaded and tasted like crap. The cupcake didn't have taste to it. Disappointed. Then I have to say I said something to the owner. Well he certainly wasn't a peach to take care of it. He complained and said how it's fresh made. Well when you got frozen cupcake you bite into you expect fresh not old ones. So I asked for a new cupcake I wanted a peanut butter cup. Looked like maybe it was fresh. Well again customer service and cupcakes were rated a 0 Again the cupcake was rock hard. Tasted like they over put frosting and load peanut butter into it Honestly I had my wife before this eat blackouts and got a 12 pack ordered. She shows up at the house expecting a great looking house. GARBAGE outside. Things around by trailer. The house looked like a dump. My wife thinks ok I'll walk up to the door. Well that's funny cuz they had some bigger girl who was covered in frosting and supposedly baker came out with it. So she just gave them to her. Didn't greet her. Just plain rude customer service. So she got them. Walked back to the car. She tripped over there GARBAGE laying on the FRONT lawn. She called me screaming how bad they treated her So she got back home and was expecting dark chocolate. Well the baker who makes them isn't it supposed to be fresh? Maybe she was to busy on her cell phone and not paying attention or maybe it's they had freezers in the garage that they store them and resell old weeks of cupcakes. And try to get people sick and get people to think there fresh when there not. But she opened up the pack and she bit into it. What happened? She spit it out and said it was frozen solid and that she can taste the weeks old cupcake and can tell it wasn't fresh. That I'm taking it as they pulled out of the freezer door stuffed with event cupcakes and market ones and resell BAD cupcakes. Customer service and cupcakes 0 So here's the thing. I will suggest to every person who wants cakes or cupcakes to stay away from this place. Cupcakes and cakes are GARBAGE and rock hard and it tastes like shit. Next thing is copyrighting brookie??? It's not his idea. He must of seen cupcake wars or baking shows or shark tank to copy someone else's idea and say he thought of it and it's his own. Lol no that's fraud and completely fake. Honestly they don't deserve to sell cupcakes at events. They sell 2.00 making profit on every sale to support there .50 cent cupcakes and fund cruises every month. People at the market complained to me that they charge high so they can get expensive things. But do no charity or care about anything in the community. I don't see them donating money? No they have mold old cupcakes to sell at any event and market. So how about a 0 rating and say there worse than over frosted n f cupcake shop .. Maybe fire the baker .. Maybe to busy posting on Facebook how there moving and opening a second shop. I feel bad for them. Its not a business gunna be long before shut down and people complain. So anyone on Facebook who sees brookie. REPORT it. They stole that idea from tv and use it as there own. That's copyrighting. And needs to be taken off Facebook. Do not buy from this dump looking business. Tops sells better cakes. At least not frozen old ones. My advice. Maybe the cruises r more important and care more about themselves than be a business. They don't care about anything but freezer burned cupcakes. Health dept. Agric dept should be told. They got called once before for them. And the cakes he's selling are illegal. He is violating his permit he has for home processor. He can only sell cupcakes. Not cakes. So anyone buying cakes beware. Dept already told them to stop the cakes and he refused. So report the business
