McDonalds in Eagle River time for some changes in management. The workers are great and do their best with the training they have. Quality control is a major part of food service business and having your team pay attention to what is given to a customer. I have been a customer since 1992 of Eagle River store and since retirement i stop for my breakfast I Like to go in and sit down and see the regulars that stop by. After my last visit today 8/30/25 i will not go back . For me i like buying local and visiting our fast food places. Quality control today was terrible. I had my normal breakfast with bacon and my bacon was just crumbled up looked like crumbs like potato chips in the bottom of the bag. I don't blame the workers but the people who train them for quality control that has to be trained and be proud of what you're Serving. II did get a refund this time but in past i just threw it away. My friend Nathalie ordered a six piece chicken nugget. She was ecstatic to open her box and enjoy SIX chicken mcnuggets. Lo and behold she opens the box to not 6, not 5, but FOUR mediocre soggy chicken blobs, after waiting quite a while to receive her order while we had to sit there hearing profanity, and incompetent language that I refuse endure silently from the staff. She then being on a diet opened her ONE cookie to find not one, not two, but THREE chocolate chip blobs. Do you know how tempting this was? VERY! She was in pain because of trauma from the book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Does it end there? NO. My good friend Kelsie that I have known for years, never done anything wrong. Paid a dollar for 4 ranches. Does she open her bag to four ranches? No! She did not. Not 4, not 3, but 2 ranches. Then my daughter comes in after us, who just freshly turned into a young 15 year old stunning woman. I feel like I know what I'm in for when it comes to getting McDonald's, but apparently I don't! Oh how times have changed! Our previous trip to McD's was for breakfast for the road and we went in to order and waited soooooo long for our order, it was crazy! Watching each of the employees do their job was painful, there was zero hustle, regardless of all the people waiting inside and in the drive-thru. It was very disappointing to see. The inside was clean and put together, along with the beverage area, which was nice. This most recent trip... coming in from the airport and not feeling like sitting in a restaurant nor cooking once we were home and McDonald's it is! We placed an order via the app for curbside pickup once we arrived, parked and checked in on the app. The drive-thru was really long and once parked, we see the lobby is closed yet again due to staffing shortages. What a shame. After 10 minutes, we were confused as to if they would even bring it out and at the 15 minute mark and heading to sit in the drive-thru line a young man brought us our order. We thanked him profusely and wished him well, hoping the best for being overwhelmed. As for the meal... well, as you can see from the photo, a few ingredients were missing between the bun. I guess it depends on your sense of humor as to whether you eat here or not. The food is Mickey-D's, no different than a thousand others. The service? Laughable. I enjoy coming here because it's an inexpensive form of entertainment. You can even change up the playbill with each visit. Our first half dozen times we ordered nuggets with sweet-n-sour sauce. The sauce was never included. Ever. We got bored with that and started using the online bogos. About 50% of the time they get the order right. We now play a fun game in the car called "What's in the bag?" It won't be what we asked for. Last week they'd run out of iced tea. Rather than explain that to us, the girl gave me a half-filled cup. Then acted distant and far away with no solutions in mind as to how we rectify the situation. The best one was when they became all discombobulated and handed us two huge bags and drinks...after we'd ordered a large fry. We went inside and explained the mistake to the manager who told us it's our lucky day, he can't take the food back for redistribution. It's a very clean restaurant and not normally very crowded. The kids that try, try very hard and are polite and apologetic, if events call for it. The ones that don't care simply don't and it shows. So I was at this location on Friday July 18th around 1:30 ish. I've have been a few times this summer and have been helped by a special needs young man. I believe his name starts with a G. I have had zero complaints and haven't heard anyone waiting around me complaining either. However the female managed ( dark hair , ponytail) that day was being very unprofessional and out of line with G. She was barking at him, hounding him and raising her voice. Never mind the way overpriced, bland food. This is about the service. I know it's difficult to convince kids to work at lousy jobs these days, but this McDonald's has compensated by just not caring. There have been so many issues in the past that I'm not going to catalogue them (let's just paint with the brush of "rude disinterest in what they're doing"). Today I spent my last thirty dollars on three egg McMuffin meals with six dollar's worth of "upgrading" to watered down orange juice. Won't do it again. They had a kid sweeping the drive-through lane, taking up the space of a car, sweeping at nothing (because I had plenty of time to see there was no trash), and slow-walking the entire time. I literally watched the two vehicles in front of him pay, get their food and leave, as I got to the first window. When I got my food, I mentioned to the window-kid that having a guy do a slow walk through the drive-through when there were customers there was annoying, and received a non-answer you'd expect from a gen-z kid. Good clean but For the most part, but they no longer do the coupons that are clearly on their receipts so I don't care to use their restaurant as much as I used to because sometimes it was nice to do the coupon for the free food. Also, the new style took away the quaint term that the restaurant used to be. I understand that Mcd's is understaffed, and I should expect minimum effort from fast food restaurants but I expect better service. The spicy chicken sandwich they made was chewy as in under cooked meat, asked for no salt on one of the fries in my order and one just regular; they just poured extra salt on the regular one to pass of the no salt as No salt. No sauce was given for the nuggets. Poor service from workers. I feel as if I have given this location a handful of chances, but am always let down by cold fries. read more

I'm fairly close to this location and this was always my favorite Micky D's location even when living on post. Eagle River is just such a small town and quaint place that it's rubs off on the shops in town also. McDonalds being one of em. My chicken nuggets are ALWAYS fresh. I do agree that the drive through here is the absolute worst of any McDonalds in Anchorage. They have upgraded all the rest to the two lane type, even the random ass McDonalds on 36th, so how is it that this one hasn't been touched since, apparently, 1812 after the British destroyed it the first time. The store's newly updated dining area is empty of customers probably of the poorly managed staff and deteriorating food quality. Coffee was served...warm. When we asked for a better cup, we were given the option to wait a bit to brew a new one. Behold, when the manager "checked to see" what he can do, the coffee machine is "acting up" and broke. Tsk. Just moved to eagle river and was super excited to see a McDonald with a play area. Worst mistake was going there. Everything started out fine until I saw one of the managers standing at the pepping station running her hand thru her hair ( just twirling and playing in it) over the food. Told the other manager. No corrective action was taken while I was there. Left to my car came back and she was placing orders in bags. Very disgusting and poor hygiene of staff. Wish I could of fail them on the spot. The drive through is bad as is the parking lot. If you get food from the drive through check to make sure they got your order right. Other then that I LOVE this McDonalds. The staff has always been very friend;y and the play place is great for kids of all ages. My children love playing in the little kids zone and it is a great and cheap way to burn energy during the long Alaskan winters. read more

I visited the ER location this weekend as I was running errands, and I had to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke from their employees to enter the doors.
