My one star continues to hold strong and that's as low as we can go, unfortunately. We had a very busy day and wanted to grab a quick sandwich on our drive home... the ER shop was the only option without going out of our way, so we decided to give app ordering a try again, after about a year. We've tried to allow for excuses... Covid, lack of staffing, lunch rush, new employees or whatever other excuse you want to give them and we're finally done and washing our hands of the ER Subway. A pathetic excuse for a sandwich that should have had extra lettuce, tomato & green pepper and pickles, lacked the extra or even a decent normal amount and there were yet again, zero pickles to be found. Then get further bullied by the VP Chris Wilson who will verbally abuse you (or maybe just women?) and talk over you the ENTIRE time. They seem to just condone bullying as a business practice. How is this place still open? Disorganized mess! I placed an order using the app, first time using it too. I arrived 15 minutes later, at the designated time, to pick it up only to find the girl disassembling the wraps because she didn't read the order the first time, I asked for the meat to be heated separate from the wrap and toppings. Once the meats were heated they started making the wraps, now later than the pickup time promised. The two wraps were not made as ordered and they left them sitting on the counter unfinished while the attended to other customers who came in after they started. The places was a disgusting mess, trash everywhere. The three working looking a mess as well. And I had cold and wrongly made wraps for dinner. I'd think making a simple wrap with meat and a few toppings would be hard to mess up, I was wrong. My last visit to this spot. read more

Y'all. I got a delivery order from you guys. This was supposed to be a melt. It's a mangled sub that's half melted and smashed up... I work in the industry. I hate hearing the delivery bells go off when it's busy. I genuinely hate being this person, but y'all can't just murder a sandwich. If this is how you treat peoples sandwiches when they aren't physically there to watch their food being made, I am genuinely concerned about other practices. My disappointment is at an all time high. This subway location need some help. The lady running the night shift this evening also needs to learn some basic customer service skills. We specifically state what type of sandwich we want and she starts throwing random veggies in the sandwich. I thought about this review a few days to be fair. I was in Subway this past Saturday night. As I entered, I was greeted by 2 young ladies behind the counter. There were 3 people in front of me. As I was about to order, a young man comes running across the parking lot into the store in a Subway uniform. He went over to the sink, eager to assist. I thought he was going to wash his hands. He didn't. He immediately put on gloves and joined the assembly line. Although it worked out that he didn't prepare my food, everyone who was in that line was shocked that he didn't wash his hands before grabbing gloves. I didn't want to discourage this young man because he seemed eager to work. Perhaps it's a training issue. He was respectful and kind. However, this was a safety concern for me. I will work on how to voice my concern in person without possibly embarrassing anyone who probably was just unaware that this was an issue. My food was good and everyone was working hard. read more

I took the kids to subway as a treat. When my son was ordering the lady making the sandwich couldn't hear my son. My son pulled his mask forward an inch so he could be heard. The lady then reprimands my son for pulling his mask forward. I should have just left even after 3 sandwiches had already been made. Shame on subway and all the mask nazis. Wraps! I always order a wrap, either spinach or tomato wrap. They have wrap options on their menu but you can order any sandwich as a wrap - any. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak wrap - heated - always. The sandwich artist did it perfectly and I added a lot of veggies. I asked for it to be cut but they did not cut it. I ate inside and the area was pretty dirty - the tables and floors needed to be cleaned. The trash needed to be empty. But with the food and the good customer service, it was a solid good experience. Hopefully this is not a sign of things to come. Subway earned one and a half star because I know they can do better. The food and the service this evening was fair to below average. The Italian bread seemed really dry and also lacked flavor. The 9 grain wheat bread was good but I had to remind him to put meat on my sandwich. The vegetables were fresh. They were out of cookies. The employees seemed on edge, lacked teamwork, and the cashier couldn't get my VISA card to work either so I had to pay cash. On a positive note: Wow! The new remodeled restaurant looks great and is a lot roomier! Good background music was playing but didn't distract me enough to notice the poor service. read more

Well, this is a nice place. Good ambience inside. However, the employees sure seemed like they didn't want to be there. Rough attitudes all around. I ordered my sandwich and they skimped on virtually everything. I'm not a monster sandwich seeking guy, but I would like more than 5 little pieces of spinach on my sandwich. Employees have been slightly hit or miss (never rude, but acted like they didn't want anything to do with the job), but the food is good and they've recently stopped being as skimpy as they were with toppings. Here are two experiences our families had at this subway location this summer that seem Yelp worthy. Stopped here with the family on the way to Anchorage during opening hrs. No one was at the counter. Not a big deal, could be prepping, stocking etc. Waited over 10 min and rang their service bell three times. No one came. When the young man came in it was obvious he had taken a smoke break by the smell. He washed his hands so I made nothing of it. While ordering A MOUSE ran along the wall and caught my eye mid sentence. I stopped talking and kept looking at the corner he ran into. The employee says "Did you see the mouse?" While running errands our son was "soooo hungry" we made the mistake of coming here again. Ordered a kids meal and was charged $8.73. Yes over $8. When I questioned it the young man asks for help and his co worker "fixes" it. She said the price was that high because I had chips... Now the price is $7.30. The screen listed itemized charges and $5 for the sandwich. So subway who markets a $5 foot long is charging me $5 for a 3 inch kids sandwich. I point this out and magically the screen changed to kids meal and I was charged $5.75. We've never experienced anything like this at the Subway in Wasilla (by Target) or the Anchorage location off International. read more

6:30pm on a Saturday. No customers in line. 4 employees, 2 of which appeared to be on break as they were sitting at a table. Was not greeted when I entered. Stood at the counter for about 30 seconds and was not acknowledged. In hindsight that was probably good because it gave me some time to look at how filthy the place was. So, disgusting I had to leave. No way I would risk eating anything prepared in that kind of filth. About a month ago I left this Subway due to the same filth. Thought I might have caught them on a bad day but looks like this is more likely a trend. read more

Had a very disappointing experience at this Subway today. There was quite a long line and the 2 young girls at the counter were extremely slow and when chatting with the customers was complaining about how tiered they were. They seemed to lack supervision as they did not really seem to know what they were doing. Was in line for over a 1/2 hour, several people walked out. The soda in the soda machine has just clear carbonated water coming out of it. The sandwiches were just thrown together with globs a mayo and bread was over toasted. My boyfriend and I go to subway alllll the time. It's always good. I think it's the store manager though of this eagle river location and I believe his name starts with a B I can't remember for sure though. Anyways, he's clearly pretty good at his job but he like cuts us off in the middle of talking to say something else and it's almost like he tries to make us feel stupid? We wanted to add a few things on before toasting our sandwich and it was green onions and peppers, and salt and oregano. We told him the green onions and peppers and he did it and as he was finishing those we said and also salt and pepper and oregano and he cut us off AGAIN and said "cmon man I can handle it give it to me all at once" and AS said that he said that he put the wrong ingredient on it. Clearly he couldn't handle it. And it was not the first time he's don't that exact same thing to us. He knows the menu well clearly but he needs to chill and relax and not cut customers off and let them finish speaking. A little unprofessional! read more

I do like subway, I really do. But someone needs to fix the hair in the bread problem if it is a problem. I get 3/4 of the way through my foot long that I did make a deluxe and had a hair stuck in the bread. Luckily it was a long one so hopefully it wasn't a pube or anything like that(I understand men have short hair so if it was a short one it could've just been off his head), but anyways my mind wandered there. I bring it up to the counter and basically dangle my sandwich from this string of hair and the girl grabs it and immediately throws it away behind the counter and the manager or who I believe to be be manager says is "oh my buddy came in yesterday and had the same thing happen to him, he has yet to come back for his free sandwich." The lady then proceeds to ask if I would like a free sandwich to which I replied a "no thanks." Couldn't get that weird feeling of having a hair in my mouth/throat all night even though there wasn't one in there. Haha. Could be just a string of breads with hairs in them, who knows! read more

I have never worked at a Subway but I have eaten at the one in Eagle River and honestly, I feel sorry for the employees having to deal with some of the customers they put up with. Like the lunch person who comes in and has five sandwich orders for people in her office while the line grows behind her and those people get annoyed and take it out on the employee like they did something to bring on the wrath of those waiting behind her. Or the person with the five kids who doesn't bother to plan ahead at all and doesn't even start asking the kids what they want until they're standing in front of the person asking them what kind of bread they'd like. I have always had sense enough to find out what I and my kids wanted before we marched up to the counter. Then there is the jerk of all jerks...the person who emphasizes how they want "just a very little bit" of an item then stands there and says "can you put more on there? More. A little bit more" and gets annoyed with the employee for giving him the "just a very little bit" they requested. Once this guy wanted "just a few olives" so the employee gave him just a few then he's all "more than that!" then they moved down to the last station and the guy asked for "just a little mayonnaise, not a lot" so the employee made one pass over the sandwich with the mayo container and the guy said "I want more mayo than that" so the employee made another pass to whit the guy said "give me more mayo than that!" this went on three more times. This guy's sandwich must have been 3/4 mayo. I don't have a problem with the employee attitudes as long as my sandwich is made correctly. If they have attitudes sometimes, I can see why after observing how many rude customers these people have to deal with on a daily basis. read more

Oh my, where to start. Took the kids to Subway for dinner tonight. My son was first to order and was told by the man behind the counter that his only choice for bread was flat bread. There was bread in the oven but it would be 30 minutes before it was ready. Who's great planning is that? You are a sub shop and they have no bread ready? We were hungry, so we had the flat bread, which is completely tasteless...don't recommend it. My husband had to search out napkins to clean off a table before he would let us sit and eat because they were all covered in crumbs from other customers. The floor was repulsive. It looked like it hadn't been swept all day. So, we ate and just before we left, a young girl (maybe 7 or 8) came into the store and even though the door bell rang, no one came out. So being the smart girl she is, she kept opening and closing the door, ringing the door bell, until the same man came out and told her to quit playing with the door, very rudely. Not one of the employees acted like they wanted to be there. I commented to my husband that we would not be going back there. I don't normally write reviews, but if I were the owner of this establishment, I would want to know how my business was being run. read more
