They seem to have taken note of my previous review and are implementing ways to make the customer experience better. Bigger portions, water was warm in the bathroom, and service was more pleasant. I truly hope it continues because this place is very good and they have a lot of potential. read more

The food is okay. Service is confused, curt, and unsure of themselves. Huge turn off. Not wasting time or money again.

If you are going to get food one place in Eagle River, Da J3rk Spot must be your stop. Authentic flavorful food that I cannot wait to try again. The quality is outstanding and the ingredients are clearly fresh and masterfully prepared. With lots of vegetarian and pescatarian options there is something for everyone. The business seems to primarily cater to take out orders but the ambiance and seating was delightful! read more

Back again for lunch, this time I had the "meat pie"(I forget what it's called on the menu) and unfortunately my husband is a creature of habit and had the same thing he always gets. ALWAYS get an order of their Mac & Cheese- it's a must have even if you have to roll yourself out! The women in this place are the kindest, nicest people, and the food is so good and flavorful! I love that it's something different- not another burger place for sure! Keep it up! Can't wait to come back again for more! read more

To start, I tried to place an order for pick up over the phone but was unable to because I was paying with cash. It seems they will only place an order with a payment, so we had to drive there, place and pay for the order, then wait for the food to be made. That was a little bit frustrating since we were limited on time, hence the pickup order rather than dining in. The service was very friendly however, they took great care packaging the order, and the food was hot and absolutely delicious. We ordered the goat curry, brown stewed chicken, chicken rasta pasta, and fried sweet plantains. Everything was amazing and so filling. read more

I willingly drive from Anchorage to Eagle River to eat food at this establishment. Every time my wife and I go here we are well catered too! The owner is a love and makes food that is amazing. There is a ton of love put into her food. Each time we have went in for a meal, she is working on specialty dishes and has given us the opportunity to sample them. The food is hot and is appropriately spiced. I can highly recommend the shrimp curry. Also highly recommended is the pabra. read more

Their food is delicious, but I just attempted to place a to go order. They refused to place the order due to myself paying in cash. I live 20 minutes away by the time I place the order and get in my car it would have been ready. They refused to take the order due to myself paying in cash. I said nope, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

This place is very very clean. There's 2 kiosks that you place your order at, and also you can't substitute anything. Once you place your order and take your seat, there is someone who brings the food to the table. My food was so disappointing. The flavor was there. But my oxtails were covered in an unusual amount of fat. And they were tough!! The curry goat was also just ok. read more

EDIT: in response to the business owner: I am well aware that this is not fast food, that is exactly why I made a special trip to visit! The fact that the food would be ready if I waited was not articulated clearly to me as the business owner described. I made special stop in ER just to come here, I would have happily waited if I knew this! Perhaps the business shouldn't open at 11 if they are only able to have half the menu ready at 11:30. I've been trying to get out to this spot since...well, since I heard about it! But, I'm usually in Eagle River really early in the morning, or really late in the day and...this place isn't opened. The other day I made a *special trip*. I was immediately disappointed, they were out of almost everything that involved oven-cooked chicken. I opted for the jerk chicken salad, which they did have. In a great twist, they will bring the food out to you in your car when it's done. COVID precautions seemed to be pretty good in general. I am happy to report it is one of the best salads I've had in the greater Anchorage area! The jerk was actually spicy! (so many jerk shops have jerk that is sweet...it tastes more like pumpkin spice than spicy spice) The greens were varied and fresh. It was a fantastic salad. I hope to get back and try some of the chicken-centered dishes, then I'll re-review. I can't justify 5-stars when most of the menu was out of commission. read more

Service: I believe I met the owner on this visit and her and her staff were delightful. Ambiance: More of a grab and go style restaurant. Cost: Average meal price is about 25 dollars similar most ER restaurants. Food: It's not gross. Value: Is the biggest issue! These meals are way overpriced for the amount of food you get. Advice: Because its overpriced, the food isn't great, and you might be hungry after eating I would skip this place. read more

This was definitely an interesting take on Jamaican food! Especially here in Anchorage you wouldn't expect to find a jerk chicken spot! It has its traditional menu and it's more modern menu. The cashier (not sure if it was the owner) was super kind and even took the time to explain the whole menu to my friend and I because were new! I got the jerk chicken wings that came with rice and beans, and plantains. I also got the mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! The chicken was slightly crunchier but the meat was so soft and the jerk sauce was perfect. The rice and beans really complimented and brought everything together. The mac and cheese was baked so it was a little dry but it was delicious! It had a nice Caribbean spice to it different from regular mac and cheese. And the cheese used in it was sharp and tangy. Overall I give it a 5/5. Definitely got me for the next time! read more

Great customer service she asked if it was our first time and since it was went over the menu with us and the popular items. Hibiscus Passion fruit punch was delicious she mentioned they get the hibiscus from New York. The jerk chicken wrap was delicious the chicken was moist and flavorful. I had never had plantain chips before but the were very similar to potato chips crispy and tasty. She mentioned their food was made with love and I can tell! Highly recommend trying this spot out, we will be back. read more

As a West Indian, I am appalled right now!! I ordered DoorDash from the Da J3rk Spot in Eagle River. Heard they were good. Ordered 3 shrimp & Jerk chicken bowls. Cost $65 plus. I am so bc these people didn't serve jerk chicken but instead lunch meat. Yes, I said cold cuts that you make a sandwich with...that I don't even eat. Like 2 straight strips of cold cuts on top of rice & beans! Never Again!!Lesson learned. Cook your own food. read more

Very clean spot, chill vibes, excellent service, and welcoming atmosphere! This is my first time coming, I heard nothing but great things and DA J3RK SPOT did NOT disappoint. This is an absolute MUST! The food does not skimp on quality so heighten your expectations beyond the standards of fast food service. Food is freshly prepared by the order so a little patience is needed but, TRUST...your taste buds and belly will be thanking you later! Although you might be mad you couldn't order all of the other tempting dishes on the menu but pace yourselves, there's more time to come back and order a new dish next time. It does cost a few more dollars than fast food but it's NOT fast food and the dishes are restaurant-quality. Bold flavors, perfectly cooked chicken, and a bread pudding that will leave you salivating--what a great addition to the Eagle River restaurant scene! We have a new tenant in the space that used to house Meraki, and it is slinging out a simple but delicious menu. I was quite upset when Meraki (Greek Restaurant) closed. Eagle River has a severe lack of non fast food dining options, and even more severe lack of variety in cuisine options (we have mainly Mexican or Chinese take out). So it is safe to say I was ecstatic to see a new restaurant open in the space. I was even more excited to see it was an Afro Caribbean restaurant because that meant a new type of cuisine to try that I haven't had too much exposure to. I have eaten a fair amount of Jamaican food, but I see from the comments that the owner is from Guyana so it is different! We ordered an 8 piece jerk chicken wings, jerk chicken sandwich, side of fried plantains, side of mac & cheese & bread pudding. The fried plantains were cooked perfectly. They were crispy, sweet and melted in your mouth. The mac and cheese was also good--creamy and tons of cheese. The chicken sandwich was delicious. It could've used a toasted bun, and a little more slaw, but the chicken was so flavorful. My only complaint would be that I ordered it spicy, and it did not seem spicy at all. The wings were juicy, and so flavorful. I ordered them with sauce on the side, and they honestly did not even need a dipping sauce. At first I thought that $20 for 8 wings was a little steep, but they give you 8 pieces of the wing and drum connected. It's not 4 wings and 4 drums so it is a good portion of chicken. The honey jerk sauce was pretty honey prominent, but tasty. For dessert I had the bread pudding with a caramel rum sauce. I'm still thinking about that bread pudding a week later. It was AMAZING. I will be back to try the oxtail, and some other items. I am so happy to see a business being able to open during these trying times, and I wish them success. Definitely give them a try! read more

My mouth is bursting with flavor! So so good! Spicy and savory. We ordered our food to go and I love that you can order online. Everything was prepared and ready to go when my husband got there to pick it up. The salad was fresh with different types of lettuce and toppings. Me and my husband agreed that we just wish there had been a tad more chicken in his wrap and on my salad, but overall it was great! PSA: they are closed Mondays! Short version: about 4.5 stars for taste but local business + they try to be environment friendly with their to go containers = 5 stars! Portions was a little small I was so excited to get home and start digging in that I forgot to take a picture (because there's so few here). Ordered the jerk chicken bowl and it was really really good. They had a few phoned in orders so I think that may have depleted them so ordering chicken wings was going to be about 40 mins and the other menu plates was 25-40 mins also. The selection under lunch & dinner was fastest... So chicken bowl it was and boy I'm not disappointed! It was a red bean and rice base, mixed with cubed chicken breast topped with grilled onions & bell peppers topped with a creamy sauce. Also got fried plantains and those were soft, chewy with crispy edges (my favorite part!). The portion looked a bit small but ended up being satisfying without being disgusted with myself, but honestly I could've eaten a little more read more

Kind of stumbled across this spot this weekend and glad I did. Ate here twice in three days! First day I hade the tacos, so good! Fresh tortillas, flavorful jerk chicken, and fresh toppings. They have a little heat to them but not too much. Very well put together. I went back and had the honey flavored wings. Cooler to perfection, tossed in a spicy honey sauce, delicious! The prices are a bit on the high side but the food is great. Looking forward to my weekly serving of anything they're making! read more

Such wonderful friendly people. Delicious food, good portions, beautiful store. Thoroughly impressed. 10/10

One of if not our favorite spot in Eagle River. Great food and awesome service. Definitely will be a regular spot.

The restaurant is nicely appointed and refreshed from the previous business. There are a couple high tops and a few low tables. The menu board was simple enough for making a selection, but there were som3 items on there with $0.00 x not sure what that means, but I didn't ask. The barbecue sandwich was both sweet and savory. The plantain is a nice touch. The bun seemed to be a bit of a downer and made the sandwich seem a little dry overall. I'll be back to try other items. This was a 2nd lunch that I really shouldn't have been eating, but I wanted to try it since I was stopping at Mike's Meats anyway. read more

Definitely a hidden gem! I've been here twice now, and both times the food was phenomenal. Ordering is straight forward, since they are a small business with limited staff you order yourself on touch screens. Food is made when you order so it's nice and hot when it comes to you. It is not a fast process (generally about 20 minutes from order to receiving it), but it is so worth the wait! read more

The side portions are smallish for the price but the chicken is flavorful and delicious! I want to say it was around $15 for a Wing Combo and the estimated time was 45 mins. The combo came with 3 decent sized wings (like the whole wing, flat and drummet), rice and beans and two fried plantains. We also ordered a side of more plantains, Mac and cheese and a jerk chicken melt. I got the honey jerk for my wings and it could've been more spicy imo but the overall flavor was so goood! Mac and cheese was creamy, and had a little kick to it, enough for my kid to reject it but I liked it and cleaned the bowl. It was $6 for the side and it just seems really pricey for the serving size. Jerk melt was almost overpowering with the amount of sauce that they put in the sandwich but again had good flavor. Didn't get to try the bread pudding but after reading others reviews I'll have to make the trip to ER to do so! read more

I'm sorry to leave a 1 star it's definitely not because of the flavor of the food. The person I dealt with on the phone said the sauce is not the same in the Caribbean as it is in America. When I had ordered Rasta pasta for someone that didn't have their dentures and needed a soft food, she failed to mention the pasta came dry. I asked for an exchange and she said it wasn't her problem that I didn't know how to read and she'd rather loose a customer than deal with me. I do recommend their food but be ready to be treated like garbage. Good luck. read more

Tried the jerk chicken sandwich last night and the mac and cheese. Both were excellent. There was plenty of pulled chicken and the jerk was flavorful. The only thing missing from the jerk chicken was hot pepper sauce! I don't know if they have it or if he forgot to ask but I'm so very happy we have this as an option in Eagle River! Most of our options are fast food. This is a nice change of pace and I hope they stick around. read more
