Rudy was very friendly as he greeted me. He was very patient as I continued to study the menu. There's so many good choices, I'm glad they have the chose 2. Stopped by McAlister's on our way out of town and grabbed a few sandwiches via take out. The location seemed to be working with a really light crew (possible covid related) but with nobody in the dining room at the time and only one other take out order ahead of us, the time to get the meal was longer than expected (also had to follow up for missing items before leaving). Ordered a couple Italian sandwiches and a Memphian sandwich, with chips & drinks to go. The sandwiches were all very tasty, accompanied by their pickle spears. Had an order of the broccoli & cheese soup too - very good flavor but it was not hot enough. Potential to be a solid 5 stars based on food quality & flavor but unfortunately service, accuracy & speed impacted the experience. We really wanted Mcalisters for dinner but we're scared away by the posted notices on the doors and windows. It said there would most likely be a 30 minute delay or orders due to staffing. While we are grateful for the notice, we didn't want to chance it taking longer than half an hour. So we went across the street. Not sure what the reasoning behind the poor reviews are, because the food, employees and restaurant are as awesome as any McAlister's I've ever been in. Better in fact because the were pretty empty due to the time of day I stopped in and because the construction work on the freeway next to them is probably keeping a lot of travelers away. It's not too daunting to get to from the freeway or back onto the freeway from, so fire up that map-quest and let the girl do the directing. Stopped by on a road trip. All lights in the restaurant were off except for the open sign. Drove through the drive thru and saw the girl ducked down sitting on floor behind the cash registers. We honked the horn and got her attention and asked if they were open. She said "yeah" the slammed the window in our face and walked by to the counter inside and stood there. I was actually very favorably impressed. I had been here once before just to ask questions and try a small cup of their soup. I don't remember what flavor I had but it didn't taste homemade although it was okay. I went back a couple nights ago because I knew they had loaded baked potatoes and I was curious if theirs were any good. They had a nice variety and even the option of what they called the "Pick 2" were you could pick any two items on the menu, excluding Premier items, for $7.99. I decided that sounded like a good way to taste more than one item so I got a spud that included roast beef, cheddar cheese and grilled onions and a bowl of the chicken dumpling soup which the clerk on my last trip told me she thought was good. It was good and it hit the spot on a very cold night. The potato was also very good, not as huge as some places but also not as expensive. It didn't have a funny aftertaste like the potatoes at some places have had but it wasn't nearly as good as what you can get at the Potato Factory. I realized after I sat down and got my food that I had forgotten to ask if it came with sour cream. A girl walking by asked me how everything was and I asked her about the sour cream. Next thing I know she had brought me two little containers of it at no extra charge. I thought that was great and it made the baked potato even better. The soup was nice and hot, which it isn't at all places so I appreciated that also. I was especially impressed with the two employees I dealt with. The one who took my order didn't have the impatience of some employees in fast food establishments and was very pleasant and seem to be genuinely concerned with accommodating his customers. The same thing was true of the girl who brought my food and the sour cream. Genuinely nice young people. That alone would be enough to bring me back. I asked a couple questions before I left and found out all their side dishes are $0.99 each and you can order them separately without them costing more. You know how some places the sides are less if you get them with an order and more if you order them by themselves. I might just go back sometime if I'm not real hungry and get some mac and cheese, some broccoli, and another side dish or a bowl of soup. I definitely want to come back. The only reason it took me this long to try the place out is because I'm not a big fan of chains and have often not had good experiences at them. So far so good at this place. read more

I love McAlisters so I stopped on a trip. And boy was I disappointed. Easily the worst McAlister's I've ever been to. My daughter's kids sandwich (not something I expected to be large) had one little piece of Turkey on it. My wife's BLT had 2 pieces of bacon. My side of steamed broccoli had 3 pieces in it. It may be because my expectations are so high but this trip was awful. Some of the staff were rude to top it all off. My son went to get a refill and one staff member completely ignored him and he walked right by him (while not doing anything). Took 25min to get that out which doesn't sound like much but I've never waited more than 10min for my food here before with it being slammed and it's dead here now (yes I'm still here). Ate here a while back. We both had salads. The lettuce was wilted, turning brown and definitely not fresh. The manager came by and I showed him the pile of bad lettuce on my plate. He gave us cards for a free meal next time. Went in a couple of days ago. Tried the salad again and again it was full of wilted old lettuce. I have been calling in an order for pickup, usually, once a week, for lunch. Today, the lady called me by name, like normal, but informed they could no longer accept advance orders at this time. I would have to call back in 20 minutes or come to the restaurant.. I work--I have a set lunch. I called another restaurant who was not only happy to take my order, but was delighted to hear how the competition is running off their repeat customers. The food is really good, I had one of their salads the chef salad actually and one of my co workers also had the same thing. Well she didnt want turkey or ham on hers, she wanted grilled chicken. We got our food pretty quick, that was only good about our visit. Everything we ordered came out wrong. They offered to fix but we were in a hurry. We asked for a knife and they went through every knife they had and couldn't find one that was clean. So I just asked for plastic. The floor was filthy with trash and food laying about. First off there were more employees than customers which should've tipped us off to the situation, however we proceeded to order. My child asked for a cookie along with her meal and got a curt "we don't have any." Which was fine when we then waited over 45 minutes for 3 sandwiches that was far from fine. Our food sat in the window for who knows how long, and as it was getting late I went to the counter to see what was the hold up and not one employee would even acknowledge that I was there so I went back to our table. Eventually our food was brought out; cold & without flatware, they evidently assume that one can eat a salad with a knife covered in some indecipherable smear. A lackluster tired apology was given for the wait and the server offered us a complimentary cookie...yeah cookies they didn't have. Hands down one of the worst dining experiences to date. I'm usually a fan of this McAlisters and depend on it frequently for a quick bite. But, today was not that day. Waited about 20 minutes for my sandwich. What made it worse was I spent about 10 minutes watching my meal get cold on the prepping area just off the kitchen. When I finally got my meal, the server did give me a couple of free cookies for my wait. I wasn't the only one this was happening to either. You could tell everyone was getting impatient waiting for their food. When I got home, my food was only mediocre, cold, and they forgot my honey mustard on the side. Very sad and disappointed. Love this location! food is always fresh and tasty! The staff is super nice. We eat dinner at this location often because our daughters school is across the street. The evening manager, I think her name is Jennifer, is really good at her job. We like that she always offers suggestions on what to eat when we're not sure what to eat. Over all a great place! Mr. Sowells is by far one of the best General Managers we have ever had the pleasure of coming in contact with at McAlister's Deli, which we have visited in 14 different states now. We were driving nearly 15 hours and arrived 11 minutes after closing. I was going to simply ask if they had tea left and find another place to eat. Mr. Sowells happily let us in and said he would even make us dinner. Not only did they make us a picture perfect dinner, sent us with a gallon of tea but EVERY employee had a smile on their face and were polite to us. Many restaurants now days have nothing but grumpy people, however there wasn't a single one. This place left us walking out with smiles on our faces and grateful hearts. We will definitely be stopping by on the trip back home. I don't take time to write many reviews but they really went out of their way tonight to send us down the road with full bellies.
