We came here around 2, Jasmon and Wayne were the only one in the front. And they took care of us so well. If you're in Amarillo and stop by, definitely be good to them. It was quiet there weren't many people in there, and Wayne made our food better than I've had at any other Waffle House. The food was good, but the people working were not!!! For EVERY Waffle House I've ever gone to, ALL the workers said good morning and welcome! These people just almost looked up! I got waited on and my breaks FINALLY came, (2 eggs, bacon & hash browns) I finally got a second cup of coffee, then the WHOLE STAFF disappeared!!!!! I waited at the register for someone to notice I wanted to pay, three waitresses came from the back room ALL of them looking down at their phone!!!! I won't be back to this Waffle House and I pray they have not ALL become like this!!! My waitresses name was Tuesdaye!! Needs zero stars. Some of the food was over cooked and taste horrible. Apparently they don't use fresh shredded cheese, they placed a low grade sliced cheese which completely ended it for me. I couldn't eat it. read more

Man it's the Waffle House! Constant and dependable average breakfast food. The staff here was sweet and typical WH kind of gals. Kept the coffee full and the food delivered in a timely manner. Listen for Rhodes that ever whine about food quality of a WH remember it's not a gourmet meal it's fast easy and moderately cheap. read more

Unless you enjoy hanging around with shrill, vapid bottled-blondes falling out of the ill-fitting club clothes they put on a few hours beforehand while their leering male friends suck on plugs of chaw and stumble around looking to pick fights with random strangers. Well we enjoy ordering from the breakfast menu and my husband likes the dependably decent cup of Joe. But today they brought him nondairy creamer. Always in the past the have served half n half. When he says, "Oh this isn't half n half. Do you have something that actually has cream in it?" The waitress said that is half n half. Well the hubby explained that no it is not half cream/half milk. Anyway instead of just saying sorry we don't serve that anymore or asking if he wanted something else to drink, she just acted indignant. Needless to say the hubby won't likely return if Waffle House can't serve a decent cup of coffee with real hand n half oh and for the second time we were served burnt toast. I'm deeply indebted to anyone who can put up with the drunken antics of my friends multiple times a week while serving us the greasy sustinence needed to ward off our collective hang-over. The menu is fairly limited, especially compared to other corporate "all-nighters" like Denny's and IHOP. But honestly, do you really trust IHOP to make a taco salad or Denny's to make a mushroom swiss burger? You know they're going to fuck it up anyway (yum - iceberg lettuce served over a bed of tortilla chips) so why not stick with the basics and go to a place where you can get eggs and bacon for a couple bucks cheaper then Denny's. Beware - this place is packed with the frat crowd at bar time, when the Midnight Rope-A-Ho around the corner closes. You may have to wait for a table and have your conversation drowned out by drunken packs of squealing girls. Shoot for five AM or so, after the bars are closed and you've finished drinking all the booze at your friend's place. You'll probably be able to score one of the smoking booths at the far end for as long as you care to chain-smoke and drink coffee, counting down the hours until you need to be at work. read more

If you've been to one Waffle House you've been to them all. I stopped going when they chose to let people smoke there. It's pathetic when the table I'm sitting at is non-smoking but the table next to me is in the smoking section. Gimme a break. It destroys my entire eating experience. The waffle house did not disappoint while visiting Amarillo, TX. I've eaten there before when I visited Georgia and the service and food seems to be of the same system. They yell out the order to the cook, and from there is it prepared on order! The waffles are yummy, the grits are off the hook, and even the little bity teeny weenie circle sausage they serve are good. Only thing that is negative, is that it is a very small place and there is a smoking and non smoking section, so if someone decides to lightone up, then the non smokers are gonna suffer. read more

For $7.50 (All-star special) these places are fantastic! Add smothered peppered and capped (onions, jalllepenos and mushrooms) to the hashbrowns and it's awesome. The laws and layout made me really miss California. They have a smoking section you must walk through to get to the non-smoking section, which might as well be smoking because there's smoke over here too due to ventilation/filtration issues. read more

Went there twice, on a recent visit to Amarillo. The first was excellent, in the early daytime. Second was the overnight shift. The second time at about 3 am, the waitress (server) and the cook obviously had eyes for each other, and after two attempts, the order was received correctly. The food was average and acceptable. Good prices for this type fare. Good place if you do not mind a wait, and the day I was there a cold front came into town, and they had the A/C on. Had to put a coat on to eat but at 5 am the manager showed up and turned the heat on. read more
