The store layout is beautiful. The food is a bit expensive. They tell you at the register that you don't qualify to get discounts until you apply for a card. I was given a paper to take to customer service where you give them your information, and all they care about is "putting points on your card." He never did get the information in correctly so I could get a card. So.. another 30 minutes waisted for zero benefits. Forget about getting discounts or savings, they think if you know you are getting screwed out of saving money the first time, you will come back and give them a second chance. Nope. Basically, if you are on social security, do not shop here. They only want rich people who don't care how much they spend. read more

I own no car and ride the bus or wait for an Uber. Rude older lady at custom service desk requested that an employee take my groceries to my car so that they could bring the cart back inside. I do not care about your cart! I care more about my bad back and not having to carry bags by hand through the parking lot to the bus stop. Got asked by 3 employees to take my groceries to car in one trip. I appreciate the offer, but not every person in Amarillo owns a car, so stop bothering people! If they need assistance, they will request it. I lived in a city that had an amazing HEB where you put your own groceries on the belt, bag them yourself and take them to your car yourself. Prices are much lower at HEB because of this. Not all people in Amarillo grew up here and there are plenty of visitors. This is why this grocery store's prices are so high! All the employees doing unnecessary work that able bodied adults can do themselves. Save it for the disabled, elderly or anyone who requests assistance. It's not customer service, it's annoying and bothersome. Just have employees be on the lookout for carts in the parking lot. This location bothers me more than any other. You need coupons here to pay the regular price at Walmart or other grocery stores in other cities. High prices! read more

The Bakery is usually always "on point!" From fresh fruit tarts (at reasonable prices) to the tasty "Chantilly" vanilla mascarpone cake with berries, to the layered chocolate cake-- my recent purchases have been delicious and highly raved! This is one of the better grocery stores in town. It's not terribly close to where I am staying so I don't go here often but I will usually stop by if I'm in the area. They have a wonderful hot food and salad bar area with delicious soups as well. They have Greek olives and stuffed grape leaves at their salad bar that are as good as anything I've had in a Greek restaurant. And while you have to pay for everything you buy of course, you can get unlimited of the things you like best, including chopped pecans that you can sprinkle over anything and everything you get. I'm not used to having unlimited access to pecans like this. I like it. They have a very good Pharmacy section with a lot of holistic products that you might usually only find in health food stores. They haven't had everything I've looked for but they have had a lot of it, for very fair prices. When I first got to town I thought there was no place to buy healthy alternatives. Along the way I have found several stores including this one. Every employee I have had occasion to interact with has been very helpful and if they don't know the answer to my question they will track down someone who does. Their checkout system is a little different than what I'm used to but once I got used to it it was fine. There's even a gas station out in front with decent prices, though not as cheap as Sam's Club. Their parking lot is huge so that's never a problem. I was very impressed the first time I went here to see that they have a few close spots reserved for expectant mothers. I don't think I've ever seen that in any parking lot before except maybe Babies R Us. Kudos to them for that. read more

Came in looking for some bubbly and dessert for New Years and was not disappointed. This place is like the Amarillo version of Whole Foods! The only departments I went to were the bakery and the wine section, so I can't comment on anything else in the store, but the bakery was top notch! I was devastated that I missed out on their creme brulee, but their thumbprint cookie and tiramisu (while not amazing) was pretty delicious for the price! They have a fantastic wine selection as well and I really liked that they featured a lot of Texas wines. I was overjoyed to find some of my fav pink prosecco and 1000 Stories Zin, which is hard to come by in Austin! The markup was a little higher than what I would pay for both bottles in Austin, but I was so happy to be able to ring in my New Year in the snow and cold with two of my fav wines that I didn't really care. All in all really happy I came upon this place and would be back in a heartbeat if I am ever in Amarillo in need of "supplies" again! read more

After returning home I discover two of my items that were on the receipt were not bagged. When I returned to bring to the attention of the clerk, she informed me they would have to review the film. Then said she remember placing them in the bag. I live in California and was in town to help my 86-year mother decorate her home for the holidays, the reason I mentioned this is simply to explained how incensed I was about not being truthful or so it seemed for the raspberries and blackberries that were missing. I could possibly understand if I looked like a person that may have tried to pull a fast one but what happened to the customer getting the benefit of the doubt. For the seven or so dollars the store would have clearly become aware of after reviewing there film I was not about to stand around for however long at 67 years of age. BAD SERVICE. read more

They have messed up cake orders before, but the last straw was when they messed up my grandmothers 80th birthday cake that we were going to throw her a part while she is on her death bed. I get it, mistakes happen...but when I called to let them know of the mistake and asked to see if they had any Italian Cream cakes already made that had the typical Butter Cream-Cream Cheese icing they use on them, the lady was condescending about it. She tried to state that they put whipped icing on every cake unless specified. when I order a cake I always specify and this one time I did not, bc I have never had an Italian cream cake with anything but buttercream. Huge disappointment and the decorating looked pretty amateur as well. Won't be ordering a cake there ever again. read more

Just got here and was NOT impressed by Amarillo... Until I decided to spend the Saturday evening wandering around for some fresh food and came across this store. Much like Whole Foods. Everything looks good, especially the fresh fruit veggies and food court. Tried the sushi for dinner, though it was just ok I think it's worth the price. The deli looks good too, will try that later. Good place. The crew are nice and helpful. The experience was really good. I enjoy shopping here and will definitely come back for more. read more

Will never use their concierge/catering services again. When I place a food order, I expect it to be made fresh. Mini croissants turned out to be giant croissants cut into slices ( not the presentation I was shown in pictures nor did I wanted for a bridal shower) with very little amount of chicken salad and the turkey pesto had almost no pesto. Both extremely dry and did not taste fresh. The deviled eggs tasted horrible and we trashed them ( looked at the date and they obviously got them from the counter- made 2 days before the event ) as per the tea sandwiches- the Gouda cheese with bacon was good, the cucumber barely had any of the dill cheese, making it dry. As per the employees in charge, only the deli assistant manager was nice and apologetic. The deli manager never called me back. When I called a second time, she wasn't there (again) and they transferred me to concierge- she was the one that originally took my order and could care less about how I felt about the food quality or presentation and interrupted me and asked just to tell her what did I wanted them to do in a very cold and to the point matter since she was not "in charge" of the deli. Originally, I requested some refund, then I called back and told her I didn't want their money and that I just wanted them to be aware of the poor quality of food and presentation they provided me and not allow this to happen to the next customers. read more

Does anyone remember when Market Street use to be the best place in Amarillo to get your meat, fresh food and just about anything? Where did that go? The fruit and vegetable area use to be vibrant, have great fresh smell, and without fruit flies. In the past you could walk down the fruit area and just wonder about how this will taste and a worker would pull out a knife cut one up and let you try it without you even asking! Couldn't have asked any better than this! Not anymore. Fruit flies coming out of everywhere and the bad thing - they are coming home with all of us! Workers miss handling all produce to the point that every piece you get is bruised and sticky. Even the bagged lettuce is gong bad?!? I implore you, fix the problem. The store feels dirty from the bathrooms to the milk area. Amarillo deserves better from you. read more

I LOVE this place. Coming from a region that has HEB's, this is absolutely where I choose to get my groceries because it's on par with what I'm used to. Not only is it a beautiful store with great selection, they even have a bulk bin and carry-out. I can also pay a few of my bills there without the long lines I'd find at Wal Mart. The quality of the service is still low - they simply don't have any sense of hustle at checkout even when people are backed up into the isles, but they do have great sales on meat as well as very high quality beef. Unlike Wal-mart who freezes and ships in everything, you can get fresh butchered meat here and, due to refrigeration concerns, there are good deals on meat that is about to go bad (cook it that day or freeze it) as well as planned sales to get people in the door. Likewise, they have fresh produce that is often local (or at least only hours away rather than being shipped in from Mexico - which is why Wal-mart's produce is less fresh - it has to go through a distribution center and then spend a long time on a truck. Having said that, if you don't aim at the sales, you are going to pay a significant amount more - especially on frozen food items that I've seen be as much as 50-75% more than the prices that Wal-mart is able to negotiate from their vendors. Finally, they have fresh-made sushi rolls here that are really tasty. They are extremely over-priced. . . if you learn to make sushi rolls (it isn't hard, you buy a $5 rolling mat and watch a video on Youtube) then the $10 rolls will only cost you about $2 to make. Still, this is what turned me on to sushi and I appreciate that. read more

Unlike James, I will not withhold that fifth star just because I know better grocery stores in Eugene, OR. Market Street is without a doubt THE BEST GROCER IN AMARILLO. They've got amazing selection, for one thing. Once in a while, I can find things there that I couldn't find at the Asian markets in town. They also have some bulk offerings, and an amazing assortment of organic produce and natural food products. Better selection and prices on wine and champagne than the nearby liquor store, too! Eat Rite is probably better for very specialized diets (wheat-free, etc.), but you'll pay 2-3 times more over there, and it can be excruciating to listen to the pushy, mentally unstable racist who runs the place (and who is ALWAYS around to harass and demean employees in front of customers, which can be quite uncomfortable). And Braum's has better turnover rate on produce (shockingly enough), but it can't compete on any other level. Having the bank inside of Market Street rules, too. Just be careful if you're riding your bike there (bad intersectiosn nearby, and spaced out soccer moms in the parking lot 24-7), and beware the premade hot food (it's tasteless). The Italian made-to-order counter is great, though. The sushi is an abomination. Market Street also has a Peet's Coffee inside, which is doubtlessly the best cup of coffee in town (although not the best coffeeshop-- get it to go or buy bulk beans). read more

We were spending the night in Amarillo at a hotel with a kitchenette, so we decided to pick up some food/wine for dinner. This grocery store had a pretty expansive and inexpensive prepared food selection. Also, the wine selection was decent for the size of the store. Most important, we asked a couple employees for help locating items, and everyone we spoke with was incredibly friendly. We will have dinner in again next time we drive through Amarillo! read more

UPDATE: I like this place less and less. Prices are soaring, and I know that's true everywhere but it's pretty pronounced here. Their spices are outrageously priced...really prices all over the store are pretty bad now. Also, selection of their "health food" section gets worse and worse. They are terrible at keeping these products in stock, and are regularly cutting out products that I used on a regular basis with no apparent recourse. I find myself more and more going to Tri's Market on NE 24th, Eat Rite, and International Foods, and I'll be hitting up the farmers market at Sunset Center for produce. I haven't quit going to Market Street but lately I just feel taken advantage of every time I walk out of there. read more

When the only vegetarian eats market in Amarillo closes it doors for the day at 6pm, this is where you need to be for a healthy meal. Market Street is just great. There are cook stations where each cook is making food fresh for that genre of food specialty. We were in the mood for some pasta. For a decent chunk of dough, we got huge portions and garlic bread, of a "pick your pasta" dish. Choose your pasta type, your sauce and your 2 veggies. Wonderful! They cook it right in front of you and send you on your way. I had the thick spaghetti in a chunky tomato sauce with spinach, mushroom and garlic. They sauteed in a white wine and olive oil. So deelish. Glad to find this place amidst the steak houses on every corner. read more

I am a return customer to Market Street when I come into town. I must say I am very disappointed at the up keep of the store. To start with the entrance to the building is enough to turn a customer away. The tables in the deli dining area are sticky and the entire area needs to be thoroughly cleaned. There are flys in the dining area. The ice cream in the frozen section are ice over as though they have been there for some time. I sure hate to see the deterioration of this business because it was and still can be a very good establishment if it's maintained. read more

This store has everything, organic, as artificial as you want, and everything in between. They have a decent deli and flower section and a really really great pharmacy. Both times I've been the staff was super nice and funny. :) They also have decent bread which is hard to find here in Amarillo. Trying to shop at Market Street Georgia Street location is a real challenge. Yesterday I waited for over 45 minutes for a cart I could use and finally simply left in exasperation. The shopping carts are impossible, most are the giant 18 wheeler impression heavy type you can't see over to push, there are about 225 plus sitting idle no one wants the hassle. Do they think that if you have a massive one you will put more in it? guess again the small ones hold about the same. The medium one is a bit better but still not all that great, about 120 sit idle, others did come in and out, while I was waiting I counted them....I was sitting on an electric cart one of many seldom used, people are mean to you if you do...... Originally there were nice sized smaller carts you could manipulate with a handy tray top, excellent shopping cart and size, there were very few originally, now there appears to be one warped one available, the bag boys told me there is 4 for the whole store. This is insane market ploy, bigger carts do not mean the customer can afford to put more in there...who chose them The Jolly Green Giant ? While I'm here, no one likes the MONOPOLY game, people will try to give you their tickets as you come in the door they are going out...it's abusive to most if you try to play, you could also weaken your eye site... And the new Starbucks Coffee bitter expensive and totally a mess, The coffee area before they changed was 100 % better it was even comfortable. . I have never been so appalled by the way I've been treated when conducting business until I ordered an atrociously presented cake from this location. A little bit over a week ago today, I ordered a cake for a "going away" party due to a former coach moving on to her dream job. This has been a particularly hard situation but we are extremely happy for this individual and wanted to celebrate in a special way but what's a celebration without a beautiful and delicious cake? This morning I called to confirm that the cake would be ready for pickup this afternoon since I'm driving from over 80 miles away. The ladies had no recall of my order, which was terrible wrong. After 30 ridiculous minutes of arguing and hateful attitudes, they informed me my cake would be ready by 2:00. Needless to say, the cake looks like someone let a chicken lose with a pen attached to its foot. Extremely disappointed overall. read more

It is always pleasing to me when grocery stores turn bravely away from the scary super-bright lighting and grid-like aisle formations associated with the supermarkets of my youth. I like the more laid back, dim-lit, feng shui while you buy your cabbage kind of feel. We came to Market Street to do some very important cake research, and came away with in-house St. Patrick's Day-themed green cupcakes (which were so scary sweet they made my teeth threaten the self-destruct button until I abandoned my efforts) and individual slices of German chocolate cake (better, and probably the best store-baked dessert I have ever had). The saddening cheese selection was my only complaint. We did get a block of gouda (O, Ren, my cheesemonger BFF, please forgive this indiscretion!) but it was really overpriced, and it just makes me sad now when cheese isn't individually opened and sliced and weighed and all. Call me a food snob. I guess the Bay Area just does things to people. But yes, overall, better than I would have expected. read more

I could never shop anywhere else! This store is affiliated with United markets but I find the prices to be cheaper and the selection much more extensive. The customer service is always perfect and they WANT to help you out to your car (so let them!!! It makes them happy and keeps the parking lot clear anyhow). I do not understand why people are okay with going to Walmart. Pay 10 cents more for cleanliness and customer service? Uh, always. I forgot to mention their breakfast burritos are BOMB. read more

I'm so thankful to have such a great grocery store so close to home. Market Street is always clean & well-stocked. There are always several employees nearby to greet you or help, if needed. I cannot understand why people would rather shop at walmart {where the customer service is non-existent} rather than pay a couple of extra dollars for top-notch service. The cashiers are friendly & they have sackers that actually will help take your groceries to your car! I have an infant & a toddler, this is priceless to me. I love Market Street! Coming from a big city where Whole Foods is a 5 minute drive away, I was in search to find a decent grocery store which sold fresh, organic meats and produce in Amarillo. Market Street was pretty much the next best thing for me in Amarillo. The produce and seafood/meat selections here are fresh and the staff is friendly and helpful. If you need immunizations, the pharmacist here is sociable and knowledgeable. Need flowers? I love perusing the fresh floral section and looking at the beautiful arrangements. Want some wine or beer? There's a whole section of beer and wines which you can choose from and a large walk-in refrigerated section which houses a variety of beers and alcoholic beverages. Don't feel like cooking? No worries, there's a sushi bar with freshly made sushi, a "Texas" cooked foods section, homemade soups, olive bar, and salad bar that are ready for you to create your own combination meal. It's easy and fresh. What more could a busy student ask for? Healthy food at affordable prices, this is what Market Street has to offer. Since Market Street is a branch of United Supermarkets, they honor the produce sales listed in the newspaper so it's pretty much a win-win. I'll be making several more trips to Market street during my time here in Amarillo. read more

Worst pharmacy in town! This is the 3rd strike. 1st time they gave me only half the prescription that I was supposed to take that night before surgery the next day. 2nd time they put the wrong pills in my prescription bottle, but fortunately I realized they looked different and called my doctor. This time they gave me another person's prescription and when I called they said they couldn't refill mine because I had just had it refilled the day before. I have to take this one back to them to get it straightened out. They would not even offer to pick this one up and deliver the correct one, even though I am working and trying to catch a plane right after work. If they were just helpful or polite it would be easier to work with them. Now looking for new pharmacy. read more

I have seen them slowly creeping their own brand of products called Signature in to their shelves. It appears they are discontinuing the breakfast cereal that I buy all the time and will substitute their Signature brand. I've put up with their high prices for a few years but I am not going to pay top dollar for their knock off brand. Its past time to beg HEB to come to town. read more

Generally ok food if you are in a hurry or want a fast inexpensive meal. Atmoshpere is similar to eating at a bus terminal or airport. Good salad bar but kind of expensive. The other United stores in the area have better menu's lower pricing. Visit the Gem St. store for a great sandwich at lunch or the 45th St store for a good breakfast. read more
