Jambalaya
Brad H.

Zero star jambalaya 5 star shrimp and grits The red beans were really tasty, but the jambalaya was just rice. There was no chicken or pork in my jambalaya dish. Unfortunately I ordered the jambalaya. Those at the table that ordered shrimp and grits loved it.

I went up to Logan to watch someone's boxing match at an event center in the area and took to Yelp for a new place to try since I'm not in Logan often. MayMoe's stood out and I was pleasantly surprised to see when I walked in that Guy Fieri had visited. It's usually a good sign in my experience! Walking in you see big blackboard menus and I was greeted by the friendly staff. There was plenty of seating, silverware and sauces at the front, and paper towels on the tables. I went with the blackened chicken pasta and hush puppies with cinnamon butter to try. The food came out relatively quickly. The portions are great. The pasta was hot, fresh, and delicious. The seasoning was perfect and I thought there was a good ratio of all ingredients throughout. The hush puppies I'm used to are from Long John Silvers and these were not as dense. Crispy on the outside and lighter inside. The cinnamon butter was more decadent than the one you get at Texas Roadhouse. I had about half of the pasta at lunch and the rest for dinner. While I was eating, someone on the staff asked me how everything was and if I needed anything else. I felt very welcome and pleased with my meal! I'd go back to MayMoe's if ever in Logan again.

Hush puppies with cinnabutter

MayMoes was freaking delicious! I ended up having the special - gator grits, instead of the usual shrimp and grits. Holy Guacamole! So so good. I also got to snack off the things my wife ordered, but mine was so memorable that I barely even recall what my wife ordered. We even ended up buying some of their "MayMoes" seasoning and we put it on a ton of things back home. Any time we drive up anywhere near the place, the family asks if we can stop here. (And how can I resist?)

Not enough stars on ratings scale to rate this place. I am from Louisiana and know what good Cajun food is. I've had a lot of bad Cajun food as I've moved around the country, but this place is a hidden gem (we'll doubt that hidden). First off the hush puppies are HUGE. They are full of corn and peppers and have so much flavor. They pack a punch! Plus they Come with cinnabutter!!! Yum! The red beans and rice were some of the best I've ever eaten. I wasn't expecting such depth of flavor but it was perfect! I'd highly recommend getting the full plate of it and taking some hone for leftovers next day. The jambalaya was more like dirty rice for me but I'm not a huge fan of jambalaya anyways but we got it as a side. The pulled pork poboy was a little disappointing. I guess I expected there to be more flavor there but it was still juicy, had tasty pickled and the bread was YUMMMM. We'd get a different poboy next time for sure. The shrimp and grits were the star of the show for me though. It's SO EASY to screw up grits and apparently next to impossible to blend shrimp and grits while getting all that Cajun flavor throughout. They hit the nail on the dang head!!! We had grist and gator as a special too and it's FABULOUS. Shrimp were better but still worth a try if it's a special. Beignets. Beignets. Beignets. Get them every time you are there. They are just like New Orleans Cafe Du Monde beignets but bigger (which you know is better)!! Lastly, they had boiled crawfish to celebrate their 5 year anniversary and they were just like home. The kind of spice that makes your nose run while you eat them. The seasoning soaked the whole crawfish including the head (which was FULL OF DELICIOUSNESS). If you ever see them advertising a crawfish boil, GO GO GO and bring an ice chest so you can take it all home! GO EAT HERE NOW.

Beignets, delicious, reminds me of NOLA

The next time we come to town this will be our "go to" stop. Awesome food and service! We spent some time and fell in love with New Orleans, Louisiana and this place reminded us of NOLA. As close as you can get to having a PoBoy on Royal Street, in the French Quarter, MINUS the drunk people. lol I recommend the shrimp and grits and to save room for the beignets. My only regret was not having some french bread to wipe the plate clean. Thanks for bringing these flavors to Utah. Any Salt Lake Location coming?

Very nice. BBQ chicken sandwich with coleslaw. Shrimp pasta was really good except a bit over salted. Cajun pastrami sandwich no jalapeno, was nice. Chicken strips are very good. I would like to see a menu so I'd know when to say No Mushrooms! The Maymoes sauce and the coleslaw are the BEST.

Shrimp and grits. Amazing

Everything we had here was amazing. So many flavors and they all blended perfectly together. High quality food with the perfect amount of spice. So good that we ate there twice in three days.

I have nothing bad to say. I wasn't really hungry, but this delicious meal really hit the spot. Will go back when in ready for a shrimp poboy.

If I am driving through Logan, I am stopping here. The Shrimp Grits will leave you saying WHAT DID I JUST EAT?!? The flavor is explosive. I probably couldn't eat the Grits by myself. It's too much food. I split the burger and grits with a friend and it was perfect.

Yet we felt the quality for price was generally pretty reasonable: $46 for six rolls -- even if with as big a menu it wasn't wholly easy for us all to remember their names when they just put them all together and served them up family style. (Visually more appealing though.) Furthermore the edamame were edamame (good) but the Monkey Ball ($5) -- an interesting fried crunchy ball of spicy tuna, mushroom, and surimi was a hit. Nigiri were fine -- but a little weird to be served as singles. I'd bump Takara to 4-stars (maybe 4.5 for the grade of food for price) if it wasn't for the poor texture and value on the small bowl of Katsudon ($18) -- based on that I'd hesitate ever to order from their Entrees part of the menu again. It was served a jumbled mess with too much carrot, thin-style (rather than juicy style) katsu pork cutlet, and onions not cooked well enough in the sweet-savory dashi broth. And no egg cooked over top like the Japanese tradition. A complete fail in my view. Yet sushi did rescue it for most and thus I'd be open to visiting again. $100 with tax and 18% tip for five wasn't a bad Japanese eating-out proposition. 3-3.5 stars.

Alright, on your first visit here you are going to get lost unless you heed my warning and follow…read morethese instructions: When you exit off 89 at the light, turn right toward Best Western. Just south are some strips of businesses. Search for the karate studio and art academy, then take a left to go behind them and there's Beehive! I swear, they are trying to hide from someone, and even having visited two years ago, I still couldn't find 'em when I stopped by a few weeks back! Inside, it's an itsy lil' store offering wedges of their cheese by the pound and cheese curds. They also have a few varieties of excellent cheeses not made in house and local Creminelli salami, plus Chocolot candies. They carry a decent selection of Savannah Bee Company bath and body products, and a bit of their own branded merchandise. A variety of local stores sell Beehive Cheese, but it's still fun to stop here as you have access to all their goodies, most importantly, a variety of dreamy cheese curds. I just tried Fully Loaded for the first time: a delightful cheese fortified with High West's Double Rye Whiskey, and wow! That is a new favorite (and I truly adore all their cheeses). It's a little bit sweet, with such an intriguing flavor, and everyone I shared it with remarked that it was especially delicious. Chocolot (based in Ogden!) makes some excellent and beautiful artisan truffles. At Beehive, they also had some of their toffee, peppermint bark, and chocolate covered cinnamon bears. I really adore this brand, and it can be difficult to track down, so make sure to snatch up a box (chocolates are $2 a piece, available either as a set of three of six). The truffles vary in each package, and are not marked, but you can find a flavor key on their website: https://chocolot.com/pages/flavors. 4 stars for the shop, which could use a little excitement as it's a tad utilitarian, but 5 strong stars for their most exceptional cheese! They are a little out of the way, but I always forget how close they are to Ogden. Make the time to stop here if anywhere close by.

This was my second visit, and unfortunately it was almost identical to the first. The welcome was not very friendly, and our waitress walked by the table several times before finally speaking to us. After that, she never really came back to check on us, ask whether we needed anything, or see how the food was. The next thing we knew, she was dropping off the bill. We ordered two appetizers, but only one was brought out. I also clearly mentioned that I have a food allergy, and she said she would let the kitchen know. Even so, the appetizer arrived with the ingredient I'm allergic to, and nothing was said about it. On top of that, the salad came with the wrong dressing. That said, the seared ahi tasted fresh, and the greens with salmon really hit the spot. The food itself was enjoyable, which makes the service issues even more disappointing. It is hard to overlook a missed appetizer, the wrong dressing, and especially the mishandling of a food allergy. This place has a lot of potential, but the service definitely needs work.

The salmon Benedict was super light on the salmon (like 2 thin strips per each piece, actually pretty disappointing for the price.) Chicken in the waffle and the biscuit dish were fried chicken breast (not sponge meat) and hot and juicy. Stuffed French toast was good as well. Overall, not a bad experience given the lake views in the background. Had the Classic Maine Lobster Tail and 7 oz Grilled Sirloin Steak as my main entree's. Requested hush puppies and Chesapeake Fries as my sides. As for the two shrimp choices, I chose Grilled Shrimp and Garlic Shrimp Scampi. First of all, the Shrimp was 10/10! No complaints whatsoever. The 7 oz Grilled Sirloin Steak was requested well done and still had a ton of pink meat inside which made it completely inedible to me. Chesapeake Fries were layered at the very bottom making them completely soggy. Hush puppies were a welcome surprise and would rate a 10/10 on those. It also came with warm melted butter and fresh lemon slices and ketchup packets for the fries. The Orzo rice included was absolutely divine! Our kids loved trying lobster for the first time and they could not get enough of the cheddar biscuits, which they even said were better than Texas Roadhouse rolls. To make the birthday extra special, the staff sang happy birthday, brought out a giant ice cream goblet with a candle, and decorated the plate with a cute lobster design in strawberry and chocolate syrup. They also presented a hand-signed card from the entire team. As a fun bonus, the kids got to handle a real lobster and received personalized certificates.
