    Party time
    Marc G.

Always a great time here. This was the 2nd time for our company Christmas party. Enough room for 120 people. Food and drink were slamming. Nonstop brick oven pizza, boom boom shrimp to die for, pretzel rolls, and of course chicken wings. Staff were amazing putting up with such a large crowd . Bar service was fast and efficient. They know we will be back. Maxwells is always a great place as well to just come and have a nice dinner. Come check them out.

Wood-fired pizza is 1/2 price at Maxwells during "Mangia Mondays." What goes better with beer than pizza? At the moment, NY regulations mandate that you must order food with alcohol, and you can't go wrong with a cheap and delicious pizza. I ordered the Margharita. The crust was thin, and the pie was about 10' diameter. If you're just snacking or stopping by for a light dinner, the pizza is fine to share. If you come hungry, then I recommend ordering your own. The sauce was flavorful and the cheese was perfectly melty. The crust wasn't burned either, which tends to be a hazard with wood-oven pizza. A friend and I dined outside. Had to briefly go into a restaurant to notify the waitress of our presence, though I'm sure she probably would have noticed us if we sat ourselves. There is plenty of outdoor seating with well-spaced tables. Hanover Square makes for a pretty view, too. Would totally eat outside again even once social distance regulations lift!

White Russian with fireball on left. IPA in back

I came here for a holiday party and enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and food. The waitresses were friendly and were accommodating with my specific drink requests (I wanted gin and grapefruit juice). The best thing I had here were their wing. It was meaty, crispy, and not hard/chewy/shriveled or subpar. I was impressed by the quality of their wings. I also had some pizza, a white Russian with a Fireball twist, and a few other food items (I cannot remember what they were...). A traditional white Russian tastes better than the white Russian with fireball but I liked the creative flare. They have a dart board in the back and a rack for coats. The back area is lounge-like and has a couch. They have tall tables and bar seating. The interior is pretty small. They are available if you want to host private parties. The food here was surprisingly good.

Short ribs special for Dining Week

First time eating here, and it's for Dining Week. We had tried to get a reservation, but they were booked. They did, however, suggest to arrive early and they may some tables for walk-ins. We arrived close to 5pm and was able to be seated right away! The hostesses were friendly. The decor was nice. We enjoyed our food - House salad, Thai Shrimp (shared), we both ordered the Short Rib (smaller portion than I was expecting), and tiramisu (shared). Our waiter, on the other hand, wasn't that attentive. He would ask how our meal was while walking away from us. The food was good. We would come back again.

I had a baby shower for my daughter at Maxwells this past weekend. I can't say enough great things about the space, the staff and the food. It was a beautiful venue, very cozy and casual. The food was great! I'm still thinking about the chicken parm days later. The staff was so easy to work with. Maria made the planning a breeze with great communication and the day of, the staff was very attentive and took care of everything, All that I had to do was enjoy the party. I would highly recommend visiting Maxwells and especially consider them for a party. Thank you all so much for creating a memorable experience that we will cherish!

    Great ambiance.

Good selection of beers on tap. The duck wings were excellent . The house cut fries were delicious and piping hot. I'll be back.

The Wedge changes their menu on a weekly basis so I was excited to see what was on this weeks menu so naturally we had to get multiple dishes to share in order to try as much as possible. We ordered two pasta dishes, truffle fries for the table, and brussel sprouts to share family style and we didn't leave a crumb behind! All the dishes were more unique than a typical pasta dish you may find elsewhere which was extra fun and soo delicious! The brussels were so soft and topped with so much flavor. I would love to come again to try their brunch menu and continue coming throughout the year to try many new items as their menu rotates. I really wanted to try their mac and cheese so I am determined to come back at the right time for that one!

I had the pleasure of returning to Touché for a second visit on Saturday evening, and once again,…read morethe experience was exceptional. It's not uncommon for a new restaurant to impress the first time, only to fall short on subsequent visits. Touché, however, proves to be a welcome exception. Their continued commitment to quality, creativity, and classic French influences remains evident in every aspect of the dining experience. Several days before our reservation, I received a courteous text from the charming and attentive hostess, Bridgette, requesting details about the members of my dining party, including names and dietary restrictions. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by name and seated at a table adorned with a personalized name card--an unnecessary but thoughtful and memorable gesture that set the tone for the evening. I selected the very reasonably priced three‑course prix fixe menu ($70), while the rest of my party opted for the Steak Frites. My starter, a colossal scallop, was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. While the nettle purée could have used a touch more vibrancy, it still complemented the bright yuzu dressing well. The main course--a perfectly cooked half duck breast accompanied by roasted celeriac purée and a currant‑cassis jus--was a standout. The deep berry notes paired beautifully with the richly rendered duck fat. Although I typically gravitate toward savory dishes, the dessert was an impressive finale: a Sablé Breton with blood orange cream, thyme Chantilly, thyme jam, and a rocher of coffee ice cream. The combination of sweet, salty, and herbaceous elements was wonderfully balanced and thoroughly enjoyable. I was fortunate enough to try a few bites of the Steak Frites, which did not disappoint--nor did it for the other members of my party. Our meals were complemented by excellent cocktails from the well‑stocked bar. The bartender was knowledgeable, skilled, and engaging. The open‑concept kitchen is also a delight to observe, and I look forward to reserving a seat at the chef's table on my next visit. One of the ongoing challenges in the Syracuse dining scene, in my opinion, is a general lack of restraint. Touché distinguishes itself with its thoughtful menu design, technical precision, and appropriate portion sizes. We left feeling thoroughly attended to and perfectly satiated. I sincerely hope Touché continues its pursuit of excellence both in the kitchen and in the dining room. Syracuse needs restaurants of this caliber, and I eagerly anticipate their spring and summer menus.

The steak and eggs, finished with a rich hollandaise, were perfectly executed--the steak was tender and cooked just right, while the sauce added a smooth, buttery depth without overpowering the dish. The shrimp and grits in chorizo sauce were equally impressive, with a savory, slightly smoky kick that elevated the creamy grits and complemented the shrimp beautifully. To round it out, the brioche with vanilla custard was the perfect finish--soft, lightly sweet, and indulgent without being too heavy. Overall, the flavors were layered, thoughtful, and absolutely delicious. This is the kind of brunch that keeps you thinking about it long after you've left.

For $50-$75 per person for one non-alcoholic drink, one shared appetizer, and one entree, I expected a little more. The room is very pretty, though they haven't managed to vent airflow away from the tables with a redirecting fin, I'd rather that than sweating on a summer's day. The drinks were great, if a bit overpriced at $10-$15 each for mocktails. The appetizer, Chicharrones De Calamar, was clearly previously frozen but overcooked calamari, no crispiness detected despite the rubberiness of being overcooked. My entree featured the fries my fellow reviewer called out, the puff-potato finest frozen, rather than fresh cut and rice that was so dry it was crunchy. The beef was not anything special and my dining companion went so far as to lament that we hadn't just dealt with the heat in their kitchen to make something instead. My companion had the cazuela and said it was fine but nothing particularly worth visiting for again. The hosting staff seemed wonderfully warm and welcoming. The wait staff were unaware of how to approach a table to place or remove dishes, what fork and knife placement might indicate that you are either continuing to dine or finished (or to ask, rather than assume a plate is ready to remove), and movement around the tables was generally awkward. I hope they're working on these skills as they all seem so lovely but service is lacking. We stopped in on a whim on a Wednesday night and while I don't regret trying somewhere new, I regret that it was Inka's.
