I have been a long-time Max restaurant goer Tonight was hands down the worst experience. Starting with the check-in, the hostess walked away and did not come back for quite some time. Then somebody else walked away and did not come back again. When we finally sat, no one came by our table for at least 10 minutes until I grabbed somebody and asked for a server. The server that came over, we gave our order for drinks and an appetizer. Another 10 or 15 minutes passed when I asked about my order from another server. They politely returned and said nothing had been entered into the computer, and there were a few new people. They took our order, and the appetizers finally came out. The buffalo cauliflower was not very good. I ordered the scallops, which were over $30, and only had half a dozen scallops on it, and the taste was not very good We ordered the specialty dessert, which was tiny and dry. The coffee was twice as long as the dessert and came out cold This was an extremely negative experience, and I won't be back to this Maxis anytime soon

Parking: huge lot right off the highway Decor: dark woods but clean, what you would expect from an older steakhouse Staff: friendly but not on point with timing and attention to patrons needs. Had to ask for a second water glass, table only had one. Drinks went empty and nobody noticed or asked if we wanted a refill Dinner came while we were only halfway through our appetizers Had to ask for a steak knife for my prime rib Food: prepared well and tasty Price: one glass of wine with dinner for two and with tip came in at over $130 so 65 a head is a little high for the quality of service in my eyes. Overall: I would shop around for other spots but if driving by or in a pinch, this place you can rely on good food

Excellent service along with delicious food. I had the turkey sandwich recently with fries plus a side order of fresh crispy shrimp and for dessert I enjoyed a fruit filled treat which was nice and cold and refreshing in such a hot day

Burger. No sauce. Dry. Bland. Why?!?

Don't get the burger. Obviously everything is overpriced at a place like this, but you'd expect a basic burger to be decent at the very minimum. I could've gotten something better for half price at Applebees. The waiter (as usually) was nice though and it's not his fault.

The Hot Lobster Roll was ok, nothing spectacular (3 stars if I'm being generous). The price was high and I've definitely had better ones for less money, but you're at a 5 star resort (kidding, of course) paying casino prices. It did come with fries, which was a plus, and maybe that justifies the price a bit. The fries dipped IN the bisque were good! Service was matter of fact with no personality behind the counter. It's counter service so I wasn't expecting much. I'd give it a solid 4 stars if you average my two items together. If I was ever back here, I'd go to Red Rose Pizza next door, but may stop in for a Lobster Bisque as a snack!

He was pretty excited. We went on a Monday and there were only a few other people there. Major first issue, they no longer serve the boiled lobster that is front and center on their menu... only the lobster TALES for $41!! The menus are paper and could easily be marked to show they don't sell it... or at the very least the server could MENTION that it's not available when she brings the menus. I asked twice if the $41 was the price for JUST the lobster and she said that it was, so we ordered additional sides. The menu was unusual... SOME spicy seafood items mixed in with stuff you'd only ever see on a menu in an Asian Restaurant. Fried dumplings, crab rangoon... and the $14 "Cajun Spicy Rice w/Shrimp" was literally a bowl of Asian fried rice with shrimp, not the least bit spicy OR Cajun. The woman that seated and served us was absolutely FLAT in her demeanor. Everyone is human and people have bad days, but she didn't smile a single time. I told her we were celebrating his birthday and she didn't even NOD in acknowledgment, just stood silently waiting for us to order... it was awkward. We felt like we were putting her out, like she had somewhere else to be and couldn't be bothered. They cover the table with a piece of brown paper, but the areas it doesn't reach were sticky like old kitchen grease. They bring the absolutely cheapest plastic utensils, the forks were so flimsy that we had trouble getting the meat out of the shell with them and finally had to ask if they had any metal ones. (They did, which begs the question, why don't they bring them to start?) They don't bring a nut cracker or a pick either, or even a table knife. It was a pretty messy meal. The lobster tails INCLUDED corn on the cob and potatoes, so we ended up with enough food for an entire second meal. In terms of the meal itself, it was pretty good. The Cajun fries were great, the onion rings too. I had some of the best fried whole clams and scallops of my life. The fried dumplings were also spectacular, though they don't offer dumpling sauce, only packets of soy sauce. The Cajun Rice was meh... it was disappointing for $14 and really hard to eat with the tiny plastic fork. The bill came to $104 before tip. Crazy that those prices don't justify real tableware. We'll definitely try it at least once more (maybe as takeout)... hopefully there will be a new server or she'll be in a better mood.

If you told me I'd find some of the best seafood of my life in landlocked Southern Vermont, I…read moreprobably wouldn't have believed you--but Anchor Seafood House & Grille is the real deal. This place has been a Wilmington staple since 1997, and you can tell they've spent the last nearly 30 years perfecting the craft. The atmosphere is incredible. While the original 1850s building was lost to a fire in 2010, the current space is a beautiful, faithful replica that feels historic and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a post-ski dinner or a summer night out. Here's the breakdown of what you need to order: The Chowder: This is proper New England clam chowder. It's thick, rich, and loaded with clams--not just a bowl of potatoes and heavy cream. It's the ultimate comfort food. Steamers: You have to start with the steamers. They are clean, sweet, and served the traditional way with a side of broth and drawn butter. It's a messy, delicious classic that they do perfectly here. Whole Belly Clams: These are the gold standard. They're lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and have that sweet, briny pop you usually only find at a roadside shack on the Maine coast. If you're a fan of "the bellies," don't skip these. The Lobster: I went for the steamed lobster, and it was impeccable. Succulent chunks of fresh meat and just the right amount of butter. It tasted like it was caught that morning. It's rare to find a spot that balances a "fancy night out" feel with such unpretentious, high-quality food. Whether you're a local or just passing through for the foliage, make sure you stop here.

It was off-season in the area so many places haven't been busy. Luckily they asked if we were okay with the bar. Most definitely okay with the bar! We actually got pretty good attention when sitting at the bar. I ordered the Broiled Seafood Sampler because I like seafood and anytime I can get a variety in a dish, I'll go for that. The sampler consisted of haddock, salmon, scallops, and shrimp. The dish contained plenty of the fish and only two pieces each of the scallops and shrimp. The dish was not what I was expecting because of the crumb topping and creamy sauce. It was fine. We definitely got a good portion and the linguine with garlic and oil was fantastic! It was definitely garlicky, just the way I like it.

I've coming here for a few years already and finally decided to officially review it. Whole belly clams are plump and juicy and the fish tacos are delicious. Plus you get two tacos per order. What a deal! I love the contrast between the cold crunchy cabbage/cilantro and hot crispy fish. The belly platter comes with a small side of coleslaw and fries but you can substitute the fries for the onion rings for only $.50 more. It's worth it! Their haystack style onion rings are super skinny and tasty. Portions are generous too! Lobster rolls are great with nice large lump and claw meat. However, I would recommend to go when the lobsters are in season between June and December so the meat is sweeter. Outdoor seatings are plentiful but in the winter, you can sit inside the river valley co*op market next door. Service is friendly, quick, and simple. One window for ordering and one to pick up. I always come here once or twice a year when I visit my Northampton friend. Highly recommend this place for comfort and casual dining!

For appetizers we had oysters and the grilled octopus. Both of which were delicious, but the serving size on the appetizer was very small. Next was the arugula salad. Really nothing special here. My husband got the duck and same story there. Great flavor, very small portion size. For dessert we got the cheesecake and the chocolate raspberry torte like bowl. I thought these were both pretty decent. In terms of the ambiance, my husband and I both noted they needed to dim the lights by about 50%. It was very bright in there. Otherwise, the building is beautiful and they've done a good job. Overall, food is good, I would just love to see larger portion sizes and faster service time. I'm a vegetarian, and although a couple dishes had the option to swap the seafood for tofu, veggie options were lacking. The sesame cauliflower was very good as an app! I had wanted to try the burnt end mushrooms but they were no longer on the menu. Service was incredibly slow. I know the waitress was hustling and it's not her fault, but I'm not sure why it took 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. She kept apologizing and saying it would be out soon but we were there for a full 90 minutes before we got our entrees which was weird. I ordered the harvest bowl with tofu and it was fine. It was a big portion size, great variety of veggies, and the pesto was good. But there wasn't enough pesto for the whole dish and without the pesto, nothing else was seasoned at all. It was so bland. The tofu was just big chunks of lightly seared plain tofu. I saw on the menu you can order fish and chips with tofu instead, but it seems silly to come to a place known for seafood and swap their fish for tofu. Especially after eating the harvest dish, I don't know if they would even know how to properly prepare the tofu. Maybe this is a good spot for drinks and oysters but that's about it!
