Speaking of service: The manager Jessica, I believe her name is, is great! I had an issue with my order last time I went in and the waiter was on top of things but Jessica the manager came by the table and made sure I was satisfied and that the error was taken care of on the spot! She was super nice and professional and took care of my party & I! How bad can it be ? Pretty awful! I have a Rapoport gift card. Called up and ASKED if they were still affiliated. Got a cheery yes and a reservation at this 3/4 empty bistro. Ordered what was easily the most watered down gazpacho I ever had, but after all, it was only $7.Additionally, the day boat swordfish portion was ridiculously small for the bargain price of $28. But what the heck, I had my $100 gift card for the Rapoport group. Not so fast said the slick talking manager. Mr. Rapoport is involved but the rest of the partners are not honoring any cards. Yeah, but you can leave your place on the group website as if you are part of that group. Don't think so ! Then again, 3/4 empty on Saturday night at 7 PM, I'd probably say anything too! I'd give this place a 0 if I could. Max's Grille forever traumatized me from eating out. Because of my experience here, I now question the cleanliness of every restaurant I step foot in. My brother and I went to Max's Grille for dinner and we both ordered the Oak Grilled Chicken Caesar salad. Everything seemed fine until my brother was vomiting it up in the middle as was I in the early morning. We both had the most severe stomach cramps and diarrhea. For me, it was the worst pain I had ever been in my life- I couldn't sit up straight and instead had to hunch to contain the pain. Needless to say, the most horrific case of food poisoning and the only time my brother and I have ever gotten sick from eating out. My mom called the restaurant and they DENIED that we could be sick. Later, we researched our symptoms and found that we got infected with a bacteria found in human POOP. Shout out to the masterful chefs in the kitchen for remembering to wipe their you know whats before handling lettuce and other dishwater. Stay away from this DUMP at all costs. Absolutely disgusting and unbelievable consequences from dining here! read more

Just fair. Kitchen left off he chicken on our Southwest Chicken Cobb salads & the server told us chicken didn't come with the $27 salad. Pros: Service was fine and we liked the breadsticks with hummus. My dog liked the fish. Cons: My fish entree was served haphazardly with no attention to presentation. A few vegetables were scattered here and there on one side of the plate like someone grabbed them out of a bin and absentmindedly threw them on. Meanwhile on the other side of my plate was a lonely piece of fish with a lot of white space around it. It looked sad (reminded me of hospital cafeteria fare) and tasted about the same. I went to Max's Grille a lot a few years back and always enjoyed the experience. However, I just dined there yesterday for my Mom's birthday, and it seems to have gotten a make-under... It takes a lot for me to leave a bad comment, and I'm the first one to say something was excellent. But, this was average. The hostess and waitress were friendly and the service from the waitress was great. She was prompt and timely and made sure we knew the specials. But the actual dinner was not impressive at all. I ordered the salmon, and it came with jasmine rice and vegetables. Sounds good, right!? Well, the dinner came out and the salmon on the outside was black, and when I cut into it, the middle was cold and raw. So I sent it back and they warmed it up. Still, the outside was charred and the middle was slightly cooked better. The flavors didn't compliment each other, it just wasn't an enjoyable meal. I definitely would have picked somewhere else if I knew it was going to be that way. However, my mom ordered the meatloaf and she was happy with that. The inside and atmosphere are different. Seems to be more of a casual place now. I'd recommend for drinks or a happy hour thing, but probably won't be dining there again. read more

I've only eaten here twice but each time the food was fresh and delicious . I had the Atlantic Salmon with the vegetable stir fry. Tasty! I have also tried the Cobb salad with shrimp and that was very good. Their salad dressings are very good. Bottom line: I would trust the chef on any thing you order. We were here last year and this time the food and cocktails were just as good, but our server, Brooke, was awesome. I enjoyed the Floradora cocktail which included Bombay Sapphire gin, lime, chambord and a spritz of ginger ale. We ordered a specialty pasta of the day, and the crab cake main meal salad. Both were outstanding suggestions on Brooke's part. We were glad we had a reservation as it was very busy at 6:30pm on a Sunday. We assured Brooke we weren't in a hurry as some of the customers seemed quite demanding. We found their seasoned breadsticks and hummus a nice change from bread baskets at other restaurants and we happily noshed on those with our cocktails, while watching the kitchen staff hustle and assemble dinner plates. On May 23rd my husband and I brought his mother to Max's. She was in a wheelchair and on her portable O2. We had reservations for 5pm, for the early dinner and it was very easy to maneuver the wheelchair up to the table with plenty of room between tables. Our server, Danela, was wonderful from the start. She was patient, kind, and happy, and gave us very good descriptions and suggestions. She made the evening special for all of us. With the early menu, from 5-6pm, there is a complimentary appetizer and dessert from a select menu with each entree ordered. We also had a complimentary bottle of wine because there were at least two of us. We all had the bacon wrapped meatloaf with a mushroom cabernet sauce, mashed potatoes with lots of garlic, and green beans. They have served this for so many years and it is still fantastic. Its also gluten free because they use oats instead of wheat. The flourless chocolate cake and the apple strudel both came with vanilla ice cream and were very good. Expect to leave very full! Overall, considering the things that could be difficult when navigating in Mizner Park with a wheelchair, Max's earns 5 stars from us, for their helpful attitudes, and excellent food. If you have special needs though, I would strongly suggest, for your own comfort and fun, go to the early dinner from 5-6. By the time we left, it was packed outside and servers were trying to get through the walkway with drinks and meals. Just my opinion. read more

Came here with a group of 12 and thoroughly enjoyed myself. It has a lively, trendy-but-casual feel and overall fun vibes. Seriously, I'd highly recommend coming here with a big group (or with a small one). The Duck Spring Rolls ($13) came with spicy vegetables and Asian dipping sauce, I'd highly recommend them. The Smashed Avocado Toast ($14) looked amazing but was gone by the time the plate reached my end of the table. There's a great variety of salads if you're going to be in a bathing suit the next day. Personally, I had a tight dress to fit into and tried to assure myself that I'd be fine if I had the Asian Salmon Salad ($19.50) that comes with an Asian vinaigrette that can't be that healthy. Other highlights based on my friends' reactions include the Grilled Ahi Tuna ($29) WITHOUT THE FENNEL (I am morally against the concept of fennel) and picked herbs, Max's Radiatore Chicken Pasta ($24) with broccoli, sun-dired tomatoe, pine nuts, and this interesting take on a balsamic sauce, and The Grille Burger ($16) on a potato bun with l-t-o (of course). There are plenty of add-ons to the burger (mushrooms, onions, fried egg, avocado etc.) if you're so inclined. read more

Went to Max's for apps and drinks. I had been here a few years ago but after eating there tonight, I am sorry I haven't gone back sooner. Sitting in the bar area is perfect. It's more intimate than the mail dining room. We ordered the Bloody Mary Mussels, Rueben Egg Rolls and Spicy Chicken Lettuce Wraps. All were amazing but the mussels and the Ruebens were AMAZING! Why 1 Star when the food tasted good and the atmosphere was good too? Because it seemed like the manager knows it's a tourist destination and could care less about customer service. Here's the low down. It was crowded, but we got a nice table outside and it was perfect for people watching as they passed by. Mizner Park is a tourist area so it's fun to sit outside and see all the different folks walk by. So far so good. The waitress came by, I asked for the gluten free menu. Two of us are GF. No problem, she brought it over. Nice selection, but no prices on the GF menu and no descriptions of what the dish comes with. Wth? So if you are gluten intolerant (not just because) like my friend, we had to go back and forth from the big menu to the GF menu and some of the items didn't even have the same name. It's like they made the menu to frustrate GF customers. Minus 1 star. Due to other allergies and a medical condition someone in our party had some questions about an item. The waitress got so impatient I couldn't believe it. Yes, they were busy but all she wanted to do was be an order taker, not a waitress. My friend just wanted a pasta dish with some veggies. She told him she would have to charge for each veggie as a side order. Which would have made his pasta dish over $50. Minus 1 star. He also ordered a "salad wedge". You'd think for $12 they would bring an impressive wedge. It looked more like 4 lettuce cups (like the one's you get when you order chicken lettuce wraps from P.F. Chang but less). It was drenched in a really bitter blue cheese. Totally gross. No one could eat it. Minus 1 Star. I got the Radiatore, it has GF pasta, broccoli, spinach, Chicken, and it was delicious. I asked for fresh parmesan. Ha, they brought a tiny shot glass full of powdered cheese (I swear it was Kraft). A restaurant that charges $24 for a dish of pasta plus the GF upcharge and they are too busy to offer fresh grated parmesan at the table, seriously. Minus 1 star. And it only got worse.. About halfway through my Pasta I bit into something hard and strange in a pasta dish. It was chicken knuckle fragments and two rib bones. Rib bones in a pasta dish. They don't even use white meat breasts. They used chicken scraps in my $24 pasta dish. Wow. I showed the waitress the bones and she said she'd tell the manager. Upon her return, she told me this: "my manager wanted me to inform you that we've had a few customers tell us this happened lately so starting tomorrow we are changing the way we prepare the chicken". In my head I said wtf; I waiting for her to apologize or the manager to say they'll remove the item from our bill or offer something to compensate for me almost breaking a tooth eating pasta. She even showed the bones to the manager. Not even a real apology, just an excuse and their B.S. remedy. So, you had other diners complain about the same thing in the past, but because I complained you're changing the entire way the kitchen prepares chicken starting tomorrow. I feel so much better. How about starting it before I eat there based on all the other complaints about rib bones in pasta. Oh please. So, 2 GF pasta dinners, 2 cocktails, and a wedge. Total damage, over $85.00 before tip. I hope everyone considering where to eat when visiting Mizner Park chooses someplace else and votes with their feet. Your manager could care less about you. read more

It was a Friday night around 7pm and I decided to give this restaurant a call to set up a reservation for later; to my surprise I was able to do a call ahead from my hotel which I thought was great! This was by far some of the best food I've had in a while! Our server, Jocelyn, was super attentive and so sweet! She steered us in all the right food directions. Our table started with some crispy brussel sprouts and a goat cheese salad (which was a special feature). I had the crab encrusted snapper with a sauce to die for. Max's is one of the few restaurants still here since I moved to FL in 91' and there's a good reason. The food is always consistently good,atmosphere and service still great and location unbeatable. They have some of same items on the menu since I first moved to Boca and I still look forward to having them, sitting outside is a complete treat.
