Ube plum spritz

The first time I came here was about 5 years ago for dinner with my sister and mom, to celebrate a birthday. I remember I loved it back then but somehow have not found my way back until a few days ago, when some girlfriends noticed they have happy hour. I'm happy to say AlleyCat is just as good now as when I first went years ago! I was delighted by their happy hour menu; they have $7 bites and drinks. They offer a mix of classic and unique menu options, such as lychee martini, spritzes, ramen, nigiri, and sushi rolls. I tried a few options but really loved the yuzu spritz the most. I had the spicy tuna roll, which was simple but delicious! I forgot to take a picture until I was halfway done. The establishment is clean and lovely, elegant and simple. Our bartender was great, very friendly with nice banter. My friends ordered several things off the menu, including the chicken ramen and several sushi rolls, all of which we shared here and there. Everything was incredible and we will be coming back! This time before 5 years pass

Wish I could give this place at least a 4 but the service was so trash. Went on a Saturday at like 8 and it wasn't even full so I don't know why it was so bad. We sat quickly and ordered apps fast but took forever to get our main sushi orders taken. We had 3 different people take our orders and no one was on the same page. The sushi came pretty fast but it was mid. Would not get again. The seaweed in it tasted old and mushy. The apps came wayyyy after the sushi but at least they were worth it. Pastrami sando was AMAZING and the Wagyu pizza was verrry good. I would rec going for those apps just keep in mind a 30 min meal may actually take 1.5 hrs.

Salmon Nigiri (my husband stole a piece before I could take a pic lol)

Love this place! We've been coming here for years, such a fan favorite. AlleyCat has recently (4 days ago) launched a new menu. A bit smaller of a selection, but overall a great selection. The service is always top tier, and we love the vibe here. We always just sit at the bar, it's great. They've got an awesome happy hour menu. We ordered the salmon nigiri and ramen from the HH menu. We tried the new Crispy Octopus dish and the Warm Crab Avocado Roll (made with King Crab). All of it was super nommmm

I've been wanting to come to AlleyCat for quite some time now and mostly because of their handrolls. Not a lot of Japanese restaurants around our area offer that. I came in on a Tuesday night and to my surprise they discontinued it. I had just peeped the menu online before making the drive and it's still posted there sigh. Well I went ahead and tried something else. The snow crab tacos and the salmon nigiri tasting. My partner had the wagyu dumplings and the surf and turf roll. The snow crab tacos were stuffed with meat which was great - filling. Unfortunately, it was dry and didn't have sauce / taste. As for the salmon nigiri tasting - I received 4 pieces. I had to ask the server what was what because it was brought to me with no description. After he explained each, he realized two were the same or one was just plain. He went back to the sushi chef who made it and offered to spruce it up for me. I asked for ikura to go on top and they granted my wish. The wagyu dumplings were thick and only ok to me. The surf and turf roll was probably the best thing that hit our table. I would order that again. Other than that, we had exceptional service here. I thought the prices on the menu were a bit high but overall it was an okay experience.

AlleyCat Izakaya is loud, lively, and definitely trying to be a good time... but if you're coming here expecting a top-tier sushi experience, you might walk out a little confused (and mildly disappointed). Let's start with what worked. The spicy tuna crispy rice was the best thing on the table! Crunchy, spicy, flavorful... basically a one-bite wonder. The wasabi Caesar salad? Weirdly incredible. Creamy, bold, a little sharp. Who knew Caesar dressing needed wasabi? The Yaki beef noodles were solid too; hearty and flavorful with a comforting depth. But the sushi rolls? Just okay. Nothing memorable. For a place that reads "Japanese" in concept, it leans way more toward izakaya-style dishes than actual standout sushi. And maybe that's the point. The issue is when you hear this is from the same chef behind Sunset Sushi and Sushi by Bou, you expect more. This didn't hit the same way. As the kids say it... it was mid. The vibe is fun if you like a buzzy room with a lot going on. Indoors is loud and high-energy. Outdoors is calmer and good for conversation. The staff was great, and the parking in the back is a nice plus. But all in, it's a 3-star experience. Not bad, but not somewhere I'd rush back to. If you're going for a vibe and some decent plates, cool. But if you're chasing great sushi? This probably isn't your spot.

Went in for dinner with everything was fantastic from the ambiance to the service and the creative menu

t's been a little over a year since the owners closed, rebel house and turned it into alleycat. What a great evolution! The original goal was to keep rebel houses energy and merge it with Alley Cats Izakaya fare. The inside is hip and chic, and just a really nice place to hang out with friends have a drink or two and a nice meal. Izakayas are Japanese restaurants that serve tasty food and a wide range of drinks. Alley Cat does a great job here and the service was excellent. Tuna Crispy Rice - A nice pan fried crispy rice topped with spicy tuna and seasoned with a little mayo and jalapeño. Lobster Dynamite Tacos - Two small tacos to an order just let me say you can't eat just too. Miso Eggplant - this glazed eggplant had a delicious combination of flavors. Spicy Tuna Rock Shrimp - This was actually the only dish that we ordered that I wasn't crazy about. The spicy tuna roll was very good, but it was topped with fried rock shrimp and it just wasn't my favorite. I really love the whole concept. There are specials during the week too like taco Tuesdays, where they have drink specials and taco specials all evening and on Thursdays, there's a drink and food special also. I will definitely be back.

Best burger I've ever had.. always have a great experience here. Big shout out to Michael (the gm) for always keeping the menu fresh and the vibes high. Can't recommend enough.

Went here on a Saturday night and it was busy. Highly recommend reservations. Great upbeat music welcomes you to get you in the mood to have a drink and enjoy some great sushi. Our server was fantastic and was an overall good experience. He told us about their omakase experience next which will be next on the list.

Came here on a weekday one night. The sushi was ok but didn't taste as fresh. Not sure if it was because of the night we came or not. But I have eaten at AlleyCat when they were originally in the other location. So was a bit disappointed. But will give them one more try another time.

And their ambiance is fun, especially when they open their extension on weekends. We've gone at lunch and dinner, with just our small family and with a larger group. Our friends from Miami trek all the way north just to come here to fulfill their Korean cravings, and we proudly and gladly join. If you come with a big group, call ahead! My usual in the beginning was the seafood soft tofu soup, but since have added to our rotation: rose tteokboki (a must share), yaki spicy stir-fried ramen (basically if you want the yummy spicy rose sauce but sub the tteokboki with ramen noodles), Japanese curry cutlet (katsu), Korean fried chicken, bulgogi fried rice, pork belly, and galbi. We've tried a few others on the menu, but these are what we highly recommend to our friends. Even our little ones love it here! When we order drinks, they all have been good and they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol in their cocktails. My husband prefers drinking beer and usually will go for the Tsingtao or Sapporo. Don't ask us about the dessert though because by the end of our meal, we're usually stuffed! Overall, if we have any cravings for Korean food and don't want the kbbq experience, you can definitely find us here!

We got in on a Friday night with no reservations, and got seated right away. Fun vibe with upbeat pop music playing, fun young staff, a gift shop, and decent decor. Food was brought out as each individual thing was finished instead of for the whole table, so a meal came before an app and one of us had all their food before the other, but eventually we had all our stuff and it was time to eat. Portions were good sized. Food was very tasty but not a lot of spice. We had asked for medium to be safe but everything was utterly devoid of heat.

It is my understanding that these are used at yakitori shops around the world. Anyhow, when I saw that Dojo Izakaya used this grill, I had to check them out. The restaurant is pretty modern and the service is top notch. I got a vibe of a x star Michelin restaurant, but fortunately/unfortunately it is not. I ordered the fried chicken, grilled gyozas, and a grilled branzino. The chicken was really good, with excellent flavors. The grilled items had a special grilled flavor, more intense but also more delicate than regular smoked foods. It is a nice alternative to regular charcoal grills that many places use, as well as smokers at smoked meat restaurants. I appreciate the offerings, the variety, good flavors, etc. The menu changes weekly or monthly, so this is an active menu that offers diversity. If the restaurant wants to be a fine dining restaurant, I can see them going in that direction. Otherwise, they could stay as they are and continue using the unique grill flavors.

Great location literally right next to Wynwood Walls. Moody interior with dim, warm lighting. My server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. I opted for the $68 Chef's Tasting Menu. A downside is that if you're a solo diner, you only get to choose 9 items rather than the 10. Kind of scammy since they don't mention that anywhere, but that being said, the cumulative portions for the entire meal were more than enough and I had plenty of leftovers. My dishes arrived super erratically. It was like rapid fire and then a longer pause between some. I wish the pacing of the dishes could have been controlled better. WTF - I work at a sushi restaurant and this is insane. The appearance was great but the taste was horrible. I ordered the Hokkaido scallop roll and it was insanely fishy. There also was initiation crab inside (really bad quality one) that wasn't even mentioned on the menu to be apart of this roll. Not to mention the size of the rolls are giant and couldn't be eaten with one bite. Might as well be a burrito. Their "moshi moshi" roll was fine but again giant and the server said it was wrapped with seaweed as well as soy paper but that was not true. The wagyu roll was OK- but for $30 I am so upset. Over $100 for two people for lunch. Our server didn't even ask us how the food was. She was nice but she clearly didn't know what was in the rolls or ensure we enjoyed it. The lychee sake cocktail was undrinkable, it was too sweet but also too strong. How do you mess up a happy hour drink?? I called them and let them know I got food poisoning and they asked me if I was "allergic to anything" which is silly because I mentioned the extreme fishiness and mentioned I work with fish, the answer is no. He responded with "our food is super fresh", no the hell it isn't. Don't come here unless you want to waste your money. A million other sushi places I could go to for a better experience.
