Kokoro is a Japanese word for heart and they touched my heart with a delicious lunch special of 9 pieces of Sashimi and a California roll! A welcoming interior and fast friendly service enhanced our lunch experience here today! A great stop!

Great service, great ambience. We are so lucky to have a place like this just around the corner. The menu is very extensive! Last night we tried the age dashi tofu, chicken karage, spider roll, bbq eel and chicken Katsu. All wear delicious. Although we were used to having the chicken karage with Chinese five spice but lemon was a nice change- but it would've been nicer if the dish had more flavor. We will definitely go back again. The menu is so extensive so we're very excited to try more things.

This is the new Boca outpost of Masamune in Deerfield Beach. The food is outstanding and the vibe is old school Japanese Izakaya. Service is always on point. There are a lot of sushi restaurants in South Florida, but not a lot of good ones. This is a great one!

We went for their grand opening and everything was delicious! We got a toro crunch roll, US 1 dynamite roll, and 2 pieces of nigiri - all was yummy. We also tried their octopus wasabi and it was such an interesting dish, well marinated in wasabi - sure to clear your sinuses Banana tempura for dessert was also 5 stars. We'll be back

Food was pretty solid. The interior is cute and nice clean, but while servers were very nice not very attentive sat waiting for bill for over 20 min, had to ask for every water or drink. Wanted to like it more but we didn't even go when it was full and still service wasn't there. Realistically 3.5 but the food was good so rounding up

Great little place tucked in the corner of the plaza. Tapas sized portion which is what I was looking for. In terms of food quality, the fish is fresh and appetizers is definitely made to order. Service was acceptable. Hopefully this place will stay a scratch kitchen forever onward.

We each had two bites and politely advised that we didn't care for the food. Their response was, "That's how it's supposed to come."

Everyone agreed that the food was excellent- very fresh with good flavor and had great presentation. The menu depicts a picture for every item offered. It is vast and at first overwhelming. But our amazing waitress, Sasa who not only took care of our whole group with great care, patience and grace, she also attended to all the other tables in the restaurant. It's a small clean venue with Asian murals surrounding us. I thought it was adorable. We were seated at a long set of tables put together in the middle of the room. It's hard to talk and get to know everyone with this arrangement- a round table is best- but we were very grateful that they accommodated us. They also have outside seating with lighting that was festive and adorable. They offer a wide range of sushi rolls, noodle entrees and hot and cold appetizers. They also had wine and beer. It did take a reasonable amount of time to get served but that was understandable based on the fact that we ordered lots of sushi rolls and they were generous portions. This is not a glamorous, high end establishment, but you can expect great authentic food. They also gave us separate checks without a problem. It's a neighborhood gem!

So imagine my disappointment when my husband and I came in and found out it was no longer on the menu. :( I feel like once restaurants expand to multiple locations, they often try to make the menu too generic to please everyone -- and it's those signature specialty items that make a place unique instead of just another run-of-the-mill spot serving the same dishes as everyone else. I miss restaurants that hold on to their uniqueness and don't need to cater to the mainstream palettes. Service was just okay. We waited a while before our waitress even came over to bring water. We came in late for a bite around 9:30pm, and there weren't many diners, so the delay was surprising. That said, one thing I've always liked about Phat Boy is their extended late-night hours. My husband ordered the miso ramen, and the broth was rich and delicious. I had the steak noodles, which I enjoyed, but it was way too salty.

Everything tasted fresh and we enjoyed every bite (even when I was feeling so full). Chef Vincent was great. We really enjoyed talking with him and he was super kind and knowledgeable. We loved watching him work and he put a lot of care into every dish. He explained what everything served was and answered any questions we had. Honestly, I don't remember half of the things he said about what was what, but I greatly enjoyed eating it. The waitress was extremely attentive and sweet as well! Location itself is nice and parking isn't stressful. I loved the inside of the restaurant itself. It's a fairly small place so even if it's full, it would still feel intimate. My favorite was the Miso cod and Wagyu steak. There's nigiri pieces, a hand roll and a nice sorbet to end the night. Besides uni, my highlights were the sea bream and mackerel. I also requested hot water with lemon and it came in a pot with a tea candle, very well presented! I was impressed. Our dining sets were cleared very efficiently. Wish the servers would be more friendly and smiled more though. What left a bad impression was the server was in such a rush to check out our group, she ran my card twice and then said she refunded and ran my husband's card once but upon checking my CC statement, nothing was refunded so we were charged 3 times for 2 people. When I called to clarify, she said there's nothing she could do as everything on their end was correct and I needed to contact my bank. After much turmoil back and forth, she was able to find the mistake (she refunded the wrong guest) and finally corrected it. Frustrating experience.

The Korean style beef was okay, but I needed to add eel sauce for some extra flavor. The 1/2 California Roll, gyoza and side salad with ginger dressing were fresh and delicious. I enjoyed the sushi roll the most. My two coworkers both ordered different types of sushi rolls. One had fish and the other was a sweet potato roll. The restaurant packed both of the rolls in the same box, which resulted in a mess, as the sauce on one roll got mixed in with the other roll. Again, this was take-out, so I am sure we would have had a different experience if we ate in the restaurant. I would like to try this restaurant again. This was my first time visiting Yama and three things popped up on my mind as to how they were able to stay in business for so many years. 1) The warm hospitality of the owner chef who was Korean, still tending to his sushi bar and his customers after working behind the sushi bar himself for decades in his younger years. 2) The beautifully and intricately designed interior that reminded me of upscale looking Izakaya dining space that was still affordable. 3) The fresh quality ingredients that they use and in house made salad dressing was a nice touch. The sushi was decent. There was too much rice used and too much going on top of the sushi pieces for my liking, but I still managed to finish them. The servers were welcoming and the manager was very hospitable checking up on me to make sure I had everything that I needed. Will definitely recommend this place to others. The parking spaces were limited and it was crowded on a Friday night around 830pm.
