Ooooo sweet sweet Sunset Sushi.. delicious once again. We came for my boos birthday and it was delicious as always. I liked the new location, more like a sushi speakeasy after you enter AlleyCat. Very cool and great service, ambiance, fish quality, good music CHILL vibe. Make your reservations and enjoy! I did street parking in the front, you can use the Park Mobile app or the city meter. $2 per hour for parking in Boca. Valet in Miami would be close to $20 for parking

One of my favorites!

Amazing Omakase experience! Wonderful service with the most interesting sushi and sake selection!

Seeking out fresh, authentic, hand crafted omakase experiences has become a passion of mine over the last decade. Sunset Sushi is officially added to the short list of exceptional experiences. By definition, you are submitting to the chefs approach to the meal. What draws me to this format is the opportunity to have a chef introduce themselves via their food in a very intimate setting. The bar only seats 12. Each person eats the same 18 course meal, served by two chefs (6 and 6). The tone is set immediately because the restaurant is located inside a different restaurant, back of the room, almost "speakeasy" style, without the door or pass code. A small curtain is pulled aside, exposing the intimate 12 seat bar setting. Right out of the gate, you feel special, and that goes a long way during a dining experience. Even though they are serving hundreds of customers weekly, you feel like they set the whole thing up for you. I am embarrassed to say we arrived 8 minutes late, our Uber driver took us to their previous location a few miles from the correct spot. We reported the issue to the restaurant and they confirmed they are still having issues removing the old address from maps. Heads up to anyone going to double check the address. The embarrassment of walking in on 10 other people that have already begun an intimate omakase meal was quickly removed by their amazing staff. They quickly made us comfortable, took a saki order, and within a couple minutes has us caught up to the 2nd course with the group. As I've shared, for me, the best part of the omakase experience is the element of suprise. I am someone who does not peek at the menu prior to walking in. For that reason I won't take up pages of space detailing 18 courses of food and beverages. I can tell you every course was prepared with care and extreme attention to detail. As the evening progresses, you actually build a personal connection with your chef. We had the pleasure of being served by Chef Snezhana Briukhanova. For over 2 hours I was able to observe a truly talented chef express emotions through their food. As expected, the food was of the highest quality. Ever high end ingredient you can imagine, right up to the fresh hand ground Wasabi paste. That alone places things at the top for anyone who understands how rare it is to consume, let alone watch fresh Wasabi root be prepared. The ambiance was equally exceptional. What put this experience over the top was the artistry of the Chef and supporting staff. Each course complimented the previous and next. Another detail many omakase experiences overlook. They told their story in the perfect order start to finish. Properly making the star of each course the protein using, salt, sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and umami to hilight. The staffs recommended saki parings were spot on and continued to elevate each bite. For me, the telltale sign of the perfect large course meal is realizing 2 or 3 hours has passed when it seemed like 30 minutes. Of you're a Quentin Tarantino fan, it hits in a Hateful Eight kinda way. So much to take in you lose complete track of time and reality. I haven't mentioned a single dish and I could go on and on. Simply put, I would put aside a few well earned dollars and time to try this unique experience. I will definitely be back.

What an incredible find! Definitely a hidden gem in boca and a must try! I found Sunset Sushi by sheer coincidence, while doing some shopping at the Asian market located next door. I was curious since there was not much signage about it and it wasn't very evident the restaurant existed there and that it was even open. The plaza where it's located isn't very big either, but there's just enough parking since their seatings are quite intimate. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted immediately and were offered a drink while waiting for the last group to finish and our group to join. The place is very well maintained, and you can tell that the fish is quite fresh and handled with the utmost care it deserves. What I also enjoyed was the fun and easygoing attitude of the entire staff and the chef preparing our servings. He was specially entertaining and fun, and you can choose to engage or not in the interaction, he was very respectful of us not engaging at the beginning since we were just enthralled in the incredible flavors, the look and feel of the place, and how relaxed the ambiance felt. Later on we engaged in the conversation and had such an incredible time, and were delighted by every single item on the menu line up. I cannot wait to return, and hopefully it will be on one of their Tuna Tuesdays when they cut up a whole entire tuna in front of you

Hands down the best Omakase experience in south Florida. Definitely a place for special occasions and date nights. The experience is outstanding, the restaurant serves max 8 people per seating while 2 sushi chefs guide you through the experience. We learned that they are now opening for lunch service. We have had their take home omakase a few times. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

18 course omakase. Very delicious sushi here and would definitely recommend. Servers are helpful and sushi chef was nice. Came for a birthday and they were so welcoming. Not too badly priced either for omakase

Tonight was a perfect rainy night to order in sushi. Only I had to go pick it up all the way in Boca. You would think it totally defeats the purpose of ordering in, but the sushi was phenomenal and worth the drive to pick it up the distance. So when I say phenomenal I mean phenomenal in that the sushi was by far the freshest cuts of sushi I've had in a while. The sushi was perfectly portioned for 2 people. Was definitely priced on the higher side, but again was so good! When I got to sunset I called and they brought out the box of sushi outside curbside. The service was great and prompt. They actually host events and the atmosphere is very chill in the evenings. Very couplesy vibe. Will be coming back for a date night here.

Sushi to go! So perfect!

Sooooo good! Truffle salt kicks it's up the taste a few notches. Beautiful display. Highest quality sushi ever!

Omakase experience was great. The Chef customized each dishes with your desires. Will come back for different dishes next time.

Wow, was recommend to come by a friend, took me a while to bite the bullet but now that I did, I can never look back. My first visit was last week and I'm going back tonight! Both my husband and I have been talking about how good it was that we needed to go again. Upon arrival your greeted by the hostess where she guides you to the little lounge area before your invited to sit on the counter. I was throughly shocked and excited to see two female sushi chef on the counter ( lots of myths about female sushi chefs ) but they rocked the house and did an A1 job. The owner Chef Bou was also in attendance great guy. Once we got invited up thats when the fun began. I've never really dabbled in the real deal Holyfield of raw sushi but sunset has changed me for the better. Each course was presented with such care and attention to detail, and most importantly delicious. All of the cooked fish dishes were spectacular. There was mackerel, miso bass, some fried fish one that was my freaking favorite. Also big onion fan here so I loved it being served with thinly sliced red onionIt's so hard to pick my favorite course because it was all so damn good. Oh and how could I forget the strawberry crepe cake for dessert!!! It is worth the price you for such a wonderful fresh experience, highly recommend if your looking to do a little something special for a loved one or if you become addicted like me

Reservations are required well in advance, and there are 2 seatings daily, 6pm and 9pm, each hosting roughly 7 couples, which keeps the atmosphere serene and intentional. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the entire staff and seated immediately. We were the first to arrive, so I took the opportunity to admire and take pictures of the space before others arrived. The interior is stunning, breathtaking, and transports you straight to Japan! There's a beautiful private room the back which holds up to 8 guests and the personal chef and low to the group Japanese style seating. On the night we dined, we enjoyed an 18 course omakase tasting, paired with 4 sake tastings. The four sake selections were all exceptional, smooth and refined and unforgettable, even though I regret not capturing each of their names. The meal began with one of the most delicious bites I've ever had, king crab served over a warm and decedent custard. From there each course built on the last. We tasted a variety of salmons, tunas; some completely raw, and some aged to perfection for 14 days. Along with snapper, beautifully grilled Chilean sea bass, and many other crafted dishes. I tried Uni for the first time, and I finally understand why it is referred too as 'ice cream of the sea'. The taste, texture and aroma were all exquisite, creamy, delicate and truly memorable. The experience ended with a warm miso soup, followed by a refreshing melon wedge, and a red bean ice cream sandwiched between two very flaky wafers. Every single bite left me in awe. The chefs knife skills, the precision, the presentation, the simplicity of certain dishes which still packed powerful flavors, it all showcased the artistry of true Japanese fine dining. This was more than dinner, it was an experience. My absolute favorite dish? The A5 Wagu. It was heave on earth, melt in your mouth perfection. If you appreciate fine dining, exquisite flavors, culinarily history, and the craft behind aged, cured and meticulously prepared food, Taki Omakase is an unforgettable experience that you will love from start to finish.

The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the night. The restaurant itself was also really beautiful and had a nice upscale vibe. Unfortunately, the cleanliness and service at the beginning didn't match the atmosphere. When we first sat down, one of our glasses had a lot of scratches and the other one was visibly dirty. When I asked for them to be changed, the waitress initially insisted it was just scratches, even though one was clearly dirty. She eventually replaced them, but the new glass was also heavily scratched, and what bothered me most was that she took the dirty glass and placed it on another table instead of taking it to be cleaned. The attitude at first felt a little dismissive and rude, although she did become much more polite and helpful as the night went on. Another downside was the bathroom cleanliness. It smelled like a public restroom, which really didn't fit the fancy atmosphere the restaurant was trying to create. Overall, the food was genuinely excellent, but for a place that looks this nice, the cleanliness and attention to detail should be much better.

Maybe it's quieter outside but those tables are right next to the street. We had to yell to hear each other. Our server Sebastian was so pushy and constantly upselling us. As soon as we sat down, he asked whether we wanted still or sparkling water, but that question should always have 3 options: still, sparkling, or tap? He then recommended the signature omakase, the most expensive thing on the menu. When he came back to take our order, he made a big pitch of today's rib special. When my husband ordered the 8-piece nigiri, he pushed us to upgrade to the 12-piece option. As we were eating, he asked us what else we wanted to order. We ordered $130 of food for 2 people...seriously? We hadn't even finished yet to gauge if we were still hungry. I know that tips are a percentage of the bill, but you would've thought this kid was getting a commission on top of his tip or something. It rubbed us the wrong way. The tuna crispy rice was $5 per piece and the rice was weirdly chewy. Wouldn't order it again. The nigiri were the highlight of the meal. Each piece felt balanced and the sushi rice was good. We ordered 3 rolls: toro toro, scallop, and yellowtail. All were forgettable and expensive for what they were. The yellowtail roll was bland, which is probably why there's a chili ponzu sauce to go with it because otherwise all you can taste is pear, which isn't a flavor I'm looking for in sushi. We ended our meal with scallop tacos, which were good but microscopic and pricey ($17 for 2 tacos). Each one is a bite and a half. It took a while to flag down Sebastian for the bill, so we were stuck in the din of the restaurant for longer than we liked. If the restaurant's filling up, wouldn't you want to turn our table and seat new guests? My husband made a note on the res that it was my birthday, but it was ignored. Maybe we would've had a better experience with a different waiter, but this was a disappointing meal and service.
