The miso soup had a nice rich dashi based stock and was refreshing!

I was heading home from work today and wanting to grab something along the way, decided to take out sushi from Yokohama in Boca Raton! For my order to go, I ordered 1x spicy rainbow roll, 1x zurich roll, 1x volcano roll, 1x ginger salad, and 1x miso soup. Going into my review, believe it or not, but everything was awesome! The sushi had fresh savory fish, nice contrasting flavors, and was unbelievable deal (the entire meal was around $40 bucks which for 3 rolls, salad, and soup is almost unheard of in this economy!). The ginger salad came with our meal since it was above $30 and had fresh greens, and that sweet tangy ginger dressing! The miso soup had a nice rich dashi based stock and was refreshing! Overall, I was highly satisfied with the quality and quantity with Yokohama. And for these reasons, I feel my final verdict is a 5/5!

Vegetable Roll with brown avocado ):

It's really a bummer when you get a vegetable roll and all of the avocado (the best part) is browned, at least cut around them ):

Looking to try a new Sushi restaurant and read the reviews for Yokohama Sushi. Looks like they no longer have dine out since the chairs were stacked on top of the tables. My wife just wanted a California Roll with brown rice cut into 10 pieces. I tried the Sashimi Deluxe,18 pieces sashimi, its salmon, tuna and white fish mixed. Served with soup or salad. I got the salad with a very good ginger carrot dressing.

You barely can see the salmon in this "salmon" roll.

I have seen this place regress in their food lately. Their rolls have become 90% rice, veggies and HARDLY any of the key ingredient ...be it salmon, tuna, crab, etc. You end up paying 7-8 dollars for mainly rice. I gave them a few more chances buy today was my last order.

Chicken with udon noodles

My friends, Ceil and Bart, wanted us to go to supper at Yokohama with them. Clyde and I had never been there and we were happy to try a restaurant not far from home. Yokohama is a small restaurant in a popular strip mall. We must have driven past there hundreds of times without stopping. We met our friends at the restaurant. Even though it was small inside, it wasn't crowded. We sat at a long table in the middle of the room. The menu listed a lot of sushi. I like to eat sushi, but my knowledge about it is pretty limited. My friends eat there often and helped us decide what to order. We got an order of edamame for the table. Next we ordered two sushi rolls. One was similar to a California roll, the other was a crunchy salmon roll. Both were delicious. I could have ordered more sushi but I wanted to try a different dish. I got stir fried chicken with udon noodles. A large serving that I enjoyed. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Clyde got the fried rice which was very flavorful. Our entrees came with a choice of salad or miso soup. I got the salad which was a large serving of greens with a flavorful ginger dressing. Clyde liked his miso soup. For dessert we shared the fried cheesecake. It came with a scoop of ice cream and a topping Everyone at the table loved it but I thought it was just okay. I think the cheesecake was lost in all the other ingredients. Service was excellent. Our server was very nice, and patient when I asked a lot of questions about the food. She checked on us many times.

Yokohama Sushi is a delightful restaurant that serves delicious Japanese food at very reasonable prices! I really enjoyed the Combo Fried Rice and Crunch Salmon along with a tasty Bud Light. My wife, Diane had the Stir fried Chicken with Udon Noodles, equally delicious! For Dessert, we split the deep fried cheesecake with ice cream and chocolate sauce--wonderful!! Yokohama is a small restaurant with only a few wooden tables and chairs. It is very unassuming and charming. The service was very fast and efficient. We had a fabulous time enjoying a first-class meal. Our server did a great job. I recommend Yokohama very highly!

Wrong receipt and food

Normally they are good but this time my experience was not good. They were late, the food was cold. The soup spilled on the food and when I tried to call back and speak to someone none of the numbers of the restaurant works and it was going straight to voicemail, like a cell phone voicemail. More than that, the order was not correct, I received a receipt for something totally random. The 2 stars are for my other good previous orders.

Small hole in the wall place. Heard excellent things and we gave it a try. Everything was made to order. Extremely fresh and full of taste. Reasonably priced and portions were huge. Menu had an abundant amount to choose from. One person waiter staff and since she was new she was a little scrambled but she'll be better as time comes. Will definitely be back!

Kanpai in Boca Raton was such a fun dinner, especially if you like the whole cook-your-own-food…read moreexperience. We did Japanese BBQ and ordered a mix of meats, shrimp, vegetables, and all the little sides that come along with it. Everything cooked up really well on the grill, but the steak was easily one of my favorites, tender, flavorful, and even better with the dipping sauces and wrapped in lettuce. We also ordered sushi to start, including a spicy tuna roll and a shrimp tempura roll. Both were fresh and a nice way to start before getting into the BBQ. And obviously, we had to finish with s'mores. They bring everything to the table and you roast the marshmallows right over the grill, which was such a cute way to end dinner. The one downside was the cleanliness when we were being seated. We actually had to change tables twice because there was still food and debris on the floor around the tables that had been missed during cleaning I suppose. It wasn't the best first impression and definitely something they could pay a little more attention to between guests. Aside from that, the food itself was really good and the Japanese BBQ made for a fun, interactive dinner.

The restaurant is in a very, very busy area and the first thing we noticed walking in is how loud it was inside we asked to be seated in the rear where it was a little bit more quiet. After being seated, our server came quickly with a request for beverages and some menus. We didn't wait long at all. The service was good and friendly. We decided to try some things that we had not had before to see just what it would be like here at this particular restaurant and the results were a bit mixed but overall good. I had the Mongolian beef and I was happy with the dish. It was plentiful. The quality of the meat seemed good and the flavors were OK not amazing. My sweetheart had a fried rice and shrimp dish and while the tastes were OK, we were surprised at how few shrimp were in the dish. The food came hot and it came quickly and the presentation was very nice as you could see from the photos when we go back? the answer is probably. My suggestion is try this restaurant midweek when it's not so loud and see if you like it. It's open to the street and they have ample outdoor dining, which is nice but it was too muggy for us to sit outside that particular day. We didn't try their cocktails, but the people around us were enjoying them and they looked excellent. I hope you give it a try and comment or let me know what you think!

The restaurant is small and cozy. It's located on the west side of US1/Federal Highway. Sitting inside, you would not know you were on a busy street. After looking at their lunch specials menu, we decided to choose one of these items. So we really didn't even look at their regular menu to see what else they have, We each decided to get one of their bento box lunches. They also offer poke bowls and some sushi roll combos. I got their salmon teriyaki box. In addition to the salmon in one of the compartments, there was a California roll, 2 gyoza pieces, house salad, and edamame. In the middle of the box was wasabi and ginger slices. It was a lot of food. Everything was good, but I think I'd get the gyoza steamed instead of fried next time. My husband's box had all the same selections as mine, but instead of the salmon, he got sashimi. There were 6 lovely pieces of fresh raw fish -- tuna, salmon, and a white fish. He said it was very good. I'm glad we stopped here for lunch. It was a good choice.

First time going in, I was cautious to order so I got hamachi jalapeño ($29.99), toro with caviar ($39.99 for 1pc), and uni ($19.99 1pc very small amount) at market price. It took over 30mins for these appetizers and nigiri's to be served. Servers were friendly but unprofessional, looked very lost. The sushi chef was Korean, but definitely not Korean sushi chef quality work. There are plenty of places you can go to for equal or better quality sushi for better prices. The toro had Clorox scent as if it had been placed on a cutting board that has been wiped with a sports towel that was soaked in Clorox. The Uni was fresh but the amount was disappointing. I am uploading pictures from different places for comparison. Anyway no need for me to say anything else. Won't be returning, ever. I could barely swallow the 2 pieces of nigiri and app that was drowning in salty ponzu sauce. I will leave this place for people who dont know how to enjoy some good sushi. You won't be missing out on much anyway.

Since there was just one other couple there with us that day, we were able to interact with the chef, which was pleasant and highly informative. He showed us the styrofoam, dry iced box that had been overnighted from Japan and arrived that day, with beautiful, vibrant fish inside waiting to be appreciated. VERY importantly, he explained where everything we consumed came from in Japan, ie "off the coast of Hokkaido," and that the fish was INDIVIDUALLY LINE CAUGHT which should matter to everyone due to the devastation mass fishing brings to the oceans and the earth. We watched the meticulous slicing and plating of each of the 12 dishes. NO rice. No wasabi to kill the flavor, only if and when the chef added it himself. No jars of soy. Just a small plate of ginger and a moistened napkin to clean fingers between courses. Oysters in a beautiful broth. Three types of tuna. The chef told us that weekly they do a "Tuna Night" where all courses are cut fresh from a whole tuna delivered that day. Amazing. This is a very special place and we expect to return!

Not sure how many courses were served but it's all single pieces to savor in one or two bites. Some memorable creations include a beautifully cooked piece of sea bass, a flight of bluefin tuna including the absolute highlight of oh toro with caviar, surprising great oyster with some roe on top (and I don't eat oysters), a sea urchin which was very good even though I'd normally never order one, a double bite of wagyu beef...so soft and melts in your mouth, and last a slice of whiskey spritzed crown melon which apparently costs over $150/melon. For the second dessert they provided a rice crisp ice cream sandwich - really unique and tasty. Oh and what a delicious miso soup! They have a huge list of Saki if your into that with the pinnacle offered at $2800 or maybe was $3800. Some other reasonably priced options. I have no recommendation here as we aren't saki drinkers. I was told by another patron that the menu can vary so you may not be served everything I noted but I imagine the tuna trio is a constant as it's incredible. As far as ambiance, it's a very intimate restaurant with just a sushi bar that might seat 12 people. The chef prepares the sushi right in front of you and explains what each item is. Also very receptive to questions and nice to get a little convo going with him and the other guests as you enjoy and discuss the delicacies. There is a second chef who works in the back to help with some of the cooked items and a very nice hostess who seats you and helps all night. Our reason for going? Well our $1600 vacation plans fell apart and so we decided to spend that money on a staycation and treat ourselves to some fantastic local restaurants.
