Our server was friendly and provided excellent service, demonstrating a good knowledge of the menu, which made ordering easier. One standout dish was the chicken fried rice; it was absolutely delicious and definitely a highlight of the meal. While the sushi was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations and wasn't my favorite. However, I'm open to returning and exploring more options on the menu, as I believe there's potential for a better experience with different dishes. 've been to the Pubbelly Sushi location before and was so excited when I heard Boca was getting one! I went with my college daughter for a Monday lunch date and we were ready to sushi it up. Right away, our waiter let us know that all rolls were $12 on Mondays -- which felt like a major win. We ordered the Bigeye Tuna Roll (spicy tuna on crispy rice with truffle), the White Hot Roll (hamachi tartar, tuna, wasabi ponzu, garlic aioli, Fresno pepper), and the Eel Avocado Roll (eel, avocado, eel sauce). Every single roll was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The crispy rice and truffle on the tuna roll? So good. The White Hot had the perfect balance of heat and brightness. Zero complaints about the food -- absolutely delicious. Now for the odd part. When the check came, there was an automatic 18% gratuity added -- which was surprising for a casual Monday lunch for two. Even more confusing, the 18% wasn't calculated on the $12 Monday roll price. It was calculated on their regular menu pricing. When I questioned it, the waiter checked with the manager and confirmed that gratuity was based on the "regular" pricing, not the promotional price. That didn't sit right with me. It's not like we used a coupon or discount code -- it was their advertised Monday special. To their credit, they removed the amount, and I left 18% based on the actual bill. It was just... strange. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely something to be aware of if you go on a Monday. Also -- parking in restaurant row is a bit of a bear. Plan accordingly. That said, the sushi really was fantastic, and I will absolutely be back. Just keeping an eye on the check next time! It was a bit strange I must say. Pubbelly sushi is a quaint restaurant with an amazing happy hour menu, which is the reason I was there in the first place. The happy hour menu has drinks for $5 and food for similar prices, and with prices like that, you will get to order several items in the menu and you are still doing well financially. Came to Pubbelly for a late night bite to eat. Our waitress Jim was amazing! She was accommodating, gave great suggestions, and was a joy for the evening. We ordered the butter Krab rolls, lobster and crab donuts, Korean BBQ wings, and kimchi fried rice. Everything was great! The butter Krab roll was full of Krab and tasted even better with the drawn butter. The lobster and crab roll was a 100/10; the savory and sweet combo with the hot honey and tenderness of the seafood was everything. The Passion Fruit mojito was so good! She came around just read amount of times and always made sure we had everything that we need. Food was good, for the price I would say the portions are a little bit small. Highly recommend you stop in and try happy hour first and foremost to get an idea of what they have. Monday and Tuesday they offer any sushi roll off the menu for $12. Came on a weekend knowing they don't offer weekend happy hour deals which is a complete let down when 2 other restaurants in the same plaza have weekend deals. Ordered some edamame, Korean bbq chicken wings and a bottle of sake. Food was good but disappointed in the amount of wings we received with our order. We paid $17 for 5 wings and although they were extremely tasty we would not order again due to the price. Service and vibe were honestly great. The space is lively, fun, and our server was incredibly sweet and attentive. No complaints there at all. Now for the food. I really wanted to love it, but I just did not get the hype. Everyone online says the butter Krab roll is a must try, and that is what brought me in. For me, it just missed the mark. It is imitation krab, and while the menu calls it butter Krab, the description says crab, which felt a bit misleading. The rolls are also huge. You only get four oversized pieces instead of six to eight normal sized rolls, and they were hard to eat. I would much rather have real crab and smaller, more balanced bites. The eggplant appetizer was good, but it definitely lacked the flavor I remember when I tried it at the West Palm location. The ceviche roll was not for me at all. There is no raw seafood, and it was overloaded with leche de tigre. A traditional leche de tigre does not include cream, and this one did, which made it heavy and unpleasant. The lobster and crab donuts were fine. Nothing special, but not bad either. The standout dish was the tuna nigiri. When I eat sushi, I want high quality raw fish, and the tuna was excellent. Fresh, clean, and easily the best thing I had. Overall, great service and a fun vibe, but the food did not live up to the hype for me. Our server was great at explaining the menu. We wanted to share and the entrees as described seemed too small for our group. We ordered a number of small plates plus dessert. We left stuffed. They have only imitation crab, which I don't usually like, but I really liked the Butter Krab Roll. It was wrapped in bread. We all liked the eel roll too. There are a lot of fried options on the menu. The gyoza and ribs were both crispy. The eggplant was very good, but a little too heavily sauced. The cerviche with tostones was a hit, but the cerviche portion was small - especially next to the tostones. For me, the highlights were the desserts. They have black sesame ice cream!!! This was truly an experience for me and my parents. The service and atmosphere were incredible. They were very attentive, paying close attention to my allergies and everything we needed. Our waitress kept coming over and we did like a tapas style because there were so many cute innovative appetizers like short rib dumplings and crab & lobster donut holes ! After going to Pubbelly yesterday and on multiple occasions I can say the one thing missing is ambiance or a vibe or any sense of place and this is especially notable as its location necessitates a drive and paid valet parking. There are three other new(er) restaurants within the same dining complex and all three have nice interiors and give off a feeling of going somewhere somewhat special while Pubbelly feels like a threadbare nondescript sports bar but with basic Asian inspired murals. Not much money was put into the restaurant and it shows and even the seats are uncomfortable and cheap. They do have a good and eclectic music playlist but that's not enough. The menu is also lacking and is limited. Pubbelly has good food and nice service but the low end basic and dull atmosphere diminishes the experience. There are chef driven restaurants where excellent cuisine override any design issues but this is an investor backed small chain and while the food is fine it's not exactly a Michelin destination. I still like Pubbelly and its nice staff but the restaurant lacks any character and is probably best to go to when in the immediate area. read more

I got a gift card so I decided to try Pubbelly out for the 1st time. I had called them prior because the the Boca location is not even listed on their website, just the 5 other locations, and I wanted to see the menu. The girl who answered said she would tell the manager. I have been eating sushi for many years here, and to date myself I used to go to the very 1st sushi and only restaurant in Boca on a regular basis. I went early ( 5:00PM +/-), because I know all those restaurants there get crowded early, which was the case. I walked in, and it was empty and I was surprised. I was the only person in there, and sat at the bar. Another other couple showed up. I asked for a warm tokkuri of sake, and the server said it's by the glass. Never heard of that before, but he said he would take care of me. I wanted the plain Himachi which said it was made with white fish. I asked him which type of white fish. He didn't know, nor asked to find out. It came with Tostones, which I didn't want, but ordered it anyway. It was a tiny portion for $19, pricey for 3-4 mouthfuls. I also ordered a Salmon Avocado roll, which was OK. I decided I just wasn't going to order anything else and left hungry and went home and ate something. I asked for the check which he brought and said that they automatically add a 18% gratuity. That was a first in all my years to hear that. I found that to be bad business and obnoxious. I don't mind paying 18%, but it should be the customers decision, not the restaurant making you pay it. The server was friendly enough, but it wasn't a good food experience, I wish them all the best in this location, but I couldn't recommend it, especially when there are countless other sushi places in Boca now. So the service was okay. The food was okay. The vibe was fine. Nothing special. The prices are high for what it is. As others have suggested, too much mayo and/or truffle oil (fake truffle oil?) on every dish. It was a little much. The real issue is the server left a little block with a QR code to scan to pay the bill. However, if you opt to use this, they charge you a $4.99 platform fee!!! Like $5 extra to pay via a QR code instead of handing the card to the server. This is crazy!! And it's a small line item so it's hidden. Very deceptive. Is this even legal?!? Totally shady at the very least. Def gives off scammy vibes and cheapens the experience. FYI they also auto add gratuity, but then post a suggested additional gratuity at the end... this is also crazy. First time here must say the ambience is very well appointed and must also say the waiter Carlos A was definitely honest about the taste of the food and was very helpful. We were there on Tuesday and sushi rolls are $12 each, also on Monday $12 rolls which makes it much more affordable. some pork ribs, and a few rolls. Edamame rice Everything was good. A little spicy for us Our friends were more in the sushi than us really enjoyed it. Even ceviche has mayo? The sashimi both hamachi and tuna were fine but again the mayo. Chicken yakitori was miso marinated and tasty.
