First time in the area and had a phenomenal dinner that exceeded all my expectations, even though a friend recommended it. From the best brussel sprouts I ever had (wanted to swim in the sauce), to the delicious Mongolian salmon salad (couldn't stop eating it in until I forced myself to stop before I exploded), to the perfect ending with their RIDICULOUS crème brûlée pie (couldn't leave without trying it). Just an amazing meal from start to finish, and that's rare to find these days. Can't wait to be back and try other things on the menu. Also our server was amazing, I wish I remembered her name (dark hair, pony tail). A great server like her just enhances the whole experience read more

With several options in Mizner I heard this one was very good. There is a outside bar area and dining that is more lively and an inside area that is more traditional for dinner. Everyone in the venue was extremely nice. Our waiter was extremely pleasant however he simply was unfamiliar with the menu. He explained/answered our questions in such a way that it made us more confused. The menu has a lot of great choices so it was hard to narrow it down to just one. My group decided to get the chicken pesto flatbread as appetizer and then ordered three entrees: the crab cake, ribeye steak, and the chicken Parmesan. Though all of these options sound positively scrumptious I was disappointed in all four. The chicken pesto pizza barely had any pesto. In all fairness it was delicious it just was not what I was expecting. The steak was ok. I have had better for less than 45 dollars . The chicken Parmesan has no sauce on the spaghetti and only a little amount of sauce baked onto the chicken. Once we asked for more marinara sauce it was fine. The crab cakes were tricky. The cakes themselves were perfect. You could not only see the crab by looking at them but also taste it in every bite. The tricky part is that it could use without the rest of the dish. The beans were undercooked and didn't add anything to the beautiful star that is the crab cake. There is free parking in the garage across the street. Overall I would give them another try but there are a lot of cheaper options for just "ok" food read more

Max's has always been a great spot to dine in Boca. Ideally located and always great service and food. Most recently came here on a Friday night w a friend. We made a reservation and we were seated promptly. We chose to sit indoors since it was a bit louder with outside seating (not an issue w me normally but we had a lot of catching up to do so wanted a more quiet area). My friend has never been to Boca and Max's did not disappoint! Our server, Kathy, was super attentive l, friendly, and helpful with helping us decide what we wanted for dinner. We ended up deciding on the steak and branzino and enjoyed it thoroughly. If you're in the area and looking to enjoy a good meal, good social scene and ambiance in downtown Boca , Max's will not disappoint. (Just would recommend putting in a reservation prior- especially during peak season!) read more

I use to love this place and actually picked it for my first anniversary lunch. But I guess they stop serving ethnic people the moment they have snow birds that descend into Boca. We requested an outdoor table in the shade since we had our labrador with us. The hostess texted us saying they have a table but its in the sun. We texted back saying we'll wait for a shaded table. Once we got the text back, we went for our table. The first was in the sub while I saw 3 women just sitting down on a very shaded table outside. The woman showing me to the table cared less and I went inside. The lady gave us a few more options (all in sun). There was a table next to it which was shaded and i requested that. The lady showing us to our table didnt even bother to clean it and said "either take this or we cant help you". I guess that speaks volumes about this restaurant. Never coming again (as if they would care) but letting everyone know how they treat people. read more

Had lunch at Max's yesterday. I have been eating here for 30 years. Ordered Poke Bowl. Rice was all stuck together and not fresh. Sauce was terribly spicy. Nothing was fresh. Beer was served warm. I order this dish every year & it never disappointed in the past. Very disappointed. read more

Bacon wrapped meatloaf was a 10/10! Seriously delicious. I loved, loved, loved this bbq sauce, the meat was tender and juicy and just all around a good dish. I think it said it was on the menu since the 1990s and I can see why! With so many other sushi and fish options we were tempted not to try it, but I'm so glad we did! I'll certainly be back to order this again! read more

Came for lunch on a Saturday, and as a party of 6 we were able to be seated immediately. the outdoor patio area was well shaded and lively, and it was a great place to enjoy the weather. The steakhouse burger was exceptional, and the Brussels sprouts salad was well dressed and a good portion for the price- would definitely go back! read more

I had a great time tonite. Steve Z took great care of us. We will certainly be coming back.

So the food was fair.. but our waiter.. man oh man. As a former waiter I always tip 20% or more.. even when the service isn't great. The waiter I had yesterday.. didn't get his name because he never told us. But he was close to 7 feet tall, slim build, dark complexion.. he did not come close to deserving even the 15% we left him. He was so rude, literally rolled his eyes when I asked a question, took over 15 minutes to bring our first soda (appetizer arrived before soda) and took quite a while to come back with the credit card we paid with. Really just a bad experience.. he shouldn't be working for this place.. or anywhere as a waiter. read more

Allow me to provide some perspective to this review, relative to my experiences with Max's Grille over the years. My first exposure to Max's was about 14 years ago when visiting Boca Raton to consider it as a community in which to retire. Arriving in town before our hosts returned from work, we wandered around downtown Boca and discovered Mizner Park, and then Max's. We ate lunch on their patio and had a memorable experience. Fresh salads, good service, pleasant view, reasonable prices, lots of iced teas. Fast forward to 2018 and not much has changed, which is both good and not so good. The lunch menu has salads, sandwiches, soups, specials of the day. There is an extensive wine and beer list and the indoor and outdoor bars are always busy. Various fish options are always good, sometimes local, and well prepared. Veggies are prepared just right. We favor fish so I'm focusing on it, but there are steaks, chicken and their famous meatloaf. Desserts are always good and they too haven't changed much over the years. Depending on the day of the week or time of your dinner seating, there are specials which include multiple courses and sometimes a free bottle of house wine. Wine and beers are discounted during certain hours. Max's sponsors or co-sponsors community activities, which attracts locals, and there are always a fair amount of visitors to the area who either find the restaurant on their own when wandering around Mizner Park or have been recommended to go by the hotel staff where they are staying or their hosts bring them there. The feel of the restaurant is basically the same since we discovered it in 2004. The same layout, furnishings, lighting fixtures. One may ask "well what's wrong with that?" And the answer is nothing or perhaps something. Max's seems dated. And it shows its age, like many of its patrons, including myself. The menu is solid with no surprises. Even the specials are not really special. The wooden tables would benefit greatly from a nice starched tablecloth at night or perhaps new tables which aren't so scratched up. Chairs could be more comfortable. And some may read this review (and I'm told the owner reads all of them), and say "nope, it's good just the way it is", and maybe it is. Many other restaurants have come and gone in East Boca and Max's continues on. So, they must know what they are doing. Our waiter on the last several visits has been Michael P. He is outstanding, knows the menu like the back of his hand, and has a dry sense of humor if you scratch the surface. He will offer suggestions on what to order, which is helpful for those who ask "what's good here?", which always surprises me when I hear that query. He's one of the longstanding servers, and actually Max's seems to retain many staff, which is a sign of good management, motivation, and solid tipping. So, you can't go wrong dining here and I endorse it. It's not trendy or hipster or cool, it's your dependable consistent place to eat, and in his world of so many fraudulent people and businesses, there's something comforting about eating here. read more

The ambiance and the food are both exceptional! My wait staff was friendly and very informative about the menu. We had the meatloaf and the mediterranean grill veggies as entrees are both were delicious. We started with a Max Roll which was their take on a California roll but with king crab instead of the artificial krab. That with my margarita was the perfect start to an amazing evening. read more

I give Max's grill five star for the following reasons. 1- Great place located in the heart of Mizner plaza 2- Outdoor seating that is larger than the indoor seating 3- Good food, especially the salads a) If you want a steak that's always good too 4- If you're single, this is a great place to meet new people 5- It's casual, however, you can be formal and still not be out of place 6- After dinner you can walk around Mizner and burn off those calories or do the opposite and treat yourself to ice cream in the ice cream places located in Mizner Park I've been eating at Max's for over 20 years. I really like it. I guess most people feel the same way, because it has been around for so long. read more

The four of us had dinner at Max's tonight, we chose to sit inside because it was quieter. We had the spinach dip as an appetizer, and had the French dip which was delicious. Nice restaurant with live music and you can almost always get a table. You can valet park or park in the garage yourself. The food is good, service is great and bathrooms are clean. I haven't had their sushi but salads and regular entrees are delicious. They usually have live music in the front patio and nice fountains on the side. If it's your first time being in Mizner, you should check this restaurant out. Note: Their booths are super narrow where your feet will touch the person who is sitting across from you, so stagger seat. The regular tables are normally spaced. read more

WOW!!! This place is AMAZING! I can't wait to go back. This might be my favorite restaurant in Boca. Definitely the best service in town. Our server, David, went above and beyond for us! He was so kind to my 2 year old and made great suggestions for us. We all agreed he was the best server we've ever had! Moving on to the drinks and food, #AMAZING! The drinks were so good, we got the strawberry Basil and the jungle bird. They had so many yummy drink options, I can't wait to go back and try more. For food, we got a kids pizza, tomato bisque, fries, and the house salad with blackened shrimp. The shrimp were so fresh and the flavor was amazing! The salad was so good too along with the dressing. The fries were perfect, crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside. The soup had a little kick to it but was delicious. The pizza was of course great too. I definitely want to come here a lot, it has a beautiful view of Mizner Park. This will be one of my go-to's when guests visit. read more
