A good place to shoot some pool. they have about 7-8 tables there that are full 9 foot. Its a dollar to play which is a little steep for the people really trying to play some pool. Guy bartender is SOO sweet and makes a mean drink. the curly haired girl bartender is a little slower and kinda in her own world, and has massive cleavage (but hey, rock it girl!), and the blonde bartender just seems like she hate's to work in general. This is the only bar I regularly hang out at. The regulars (day or night) are super sweet and really make you feel like family. All the bartenders are great, very attentive, always running around cleaning and making sure everyone's taken care of. The pool tables are okay, but there's darts and shuffleboard too. Its definitely a dive bar, so if that atmosphere isn't your jam Rookies is across the street. Maxdons is a place you come for the drinks and keep coming for the people. read more

I am always saying that I live in the boring part of town and that I wish more cool stuff would open near me so of course I was exited when Maxdon's announced that it was moving over near me. I didn't really love the old location but figured the new one would be cool since it would be, well, new. As usual I gave them a bit before I visited so they could work out their issues. Sadly, I felt an overall sensation of meh. The building is fixed up pretty nice, much nicer than the old spot. I have been told by others that is must have just been an off night but when I went it was boring and had a blah feel. They weren't super busy but there were enough people there where I wouldn't consider them dead. The service was awful, the woman took FOREVER to get us our drinks. She wasn't friendly and didn't seem to care whatsoever that people were waiting for her slowness. We probably would have stayed longer but due to the wait for drinks we left after only one. Maybe I will try again sometime, but also, maybe not. read more

This is my favorite dive bar in North County San Diego. There is always plenty of parking in the huge parking lot. The police don't camp out front like they do at many of the bars in Oceanside and Carlsbad. I absolutely love the new look of Maxdon's. When I come to Oceanside, this hidden gem is always on my list. Four stars ONLY for the shuffleboard table and the overall atmosphere. ONE star for the bartenders. There's no other way than to be blunt - but the bartender was a total bitch. And her regular push up bra no where near her halter tank top shoving her "I'm too old for these boobs" up in peoples faces was just, ick. Sorry, I just, it just really added to the ruining of wanting to hang out there. We had a great time overall but every trip to the bar was just painful; the thought of handing over money for the "drinks" let alone a tip made me sick. food and drinks were good but lacking service. maybe 10 people at most in there with 2 bartenders and after getting our first drink they never came back to ask how the drinks were or if we wanted another after our cups were empty. we had to ask for another drink and our checks cuz it was obvious they were not going to come ask. Fun atmosphere with a spacious floor plan even with all the pool tables! Would really liked to have seen a "drink menu" or a "happy hour" menu, something to draw my friends and I back for more. Been coming here for over 2 years and now this newer bartender is extremely over controlling narcissistic youngster..! I'm not the one to call anyone person out and say they are bad or not doing a good job. Everyone is equal and deserving of a chance. But Whitney is a testimony of what all the people don't like in a over controlling bartender. I'm never rude or obnoxious in this place. This "Whitney" not only got rude and disrespectful in front of all these clients and my friends that myself nor them "my feiends" have felt or think this was appropriate and or deserving. I hold this bar in high respect along with the other friendly bartenders as well the owners.., but this is too much. We all have choices in a bar or restaurant. This place is a dive but it is one of my favorites. I could spend hours on the Family Guy pinball machine my highest score is 4.2 million! Not to mention they have pool tables and a shuffle board. Only 3-4 people ( including 2 bartenders) in on a Wednesday between 6pm-7pm, country barely audible on speaker. Not very personable and will not return but probably very nice if want to play pool and enjoy company. There are 4 or more pool tables with no one playing and 2 dart boards. There are a couple TVs (maybe more) showing sports. When speaking to my daughter while there she indicated her and friends had several good times there. You will definitely have a seat! read more

Ordered 1 drink, tiny pour and watered down. Paid for the drink with cash, bar tender gave me my drink and my change. Ordered another and left my change on the bar and went outside to have a cigarette. He took my change assuming it was a tip without asking and charged me for another drink.
