Nestled in the Elko Junction shopping center, Roberto's is quite arguably some of the best Mexican food in Elko. The Meats for the tacos are tender, yet crispy on the edges where they cooked it on the grill. The portions are beyond generous! The tacos are huge, the burritos are big and the carne Asada fries are enough for two! Some of the tacos automatically come with Guacamole and Pico. But If that's not your thing, tell them cilantro and onion only and they'll make it the street taco way. I love the Mexican sodas and Horchata and the shrimp cocktail is amazing with chips! The service is always friendly for me and they always recognize me when I come in for door dashes orders as well. I love that they're on door dash, it makes my late night cravings so much more accessible! Sometimes the wait can be lengthy but I promise it's worth it. Inside is always clean and well kept, however the salsa bar isn't always completely full. But it's never empty either so that counts for something. Several years later I found myself back here for work and told my co-workers we have to eat here. Inside is a quaint little cafe that has been around for years. On the day we were here the place was very busy because of the Cowboy poetry annual event was in town. Either way service was awesome and so was the food. During that time, it appeared that a server and the manager were engaged in a lengthy conversation with another group of customers while multiple tables were waiting for service. We politely brought our concerns to the manager's attention, hoping for some acknowledgment or explanation, but the response was simply a head shake with no apology or attempt to address the situation. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that regular customers are important, but every guest should feel noticed and valued. Better communication--such as letting waiting tables know there will be a delay--would have gone a long way. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the food and atmosphere deserve service that matches.

The portions were very generous. The salsa bar was well stocked with 5 salsas, plus pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños/carrots/onions, chopped onions and chopped cilantro. All house made and ranged from super spicy to mild. The place is off the main streets, small, nothing fancy, but the food is really authentic and delicious.
