Headed to Reno, Elko is just about half way and there a Maverik station here. It took around $120 to fill this thing. This Maverik is not exactly right off the freeway, but I like these stations cause they have a huge store attached with clean restrooms and a ton of road food or even real food like burgers and stuff I think. I just needed to fill my big thermo coffee mug and get some Funyons and Doritos! Yeah, road food. I do have other people to drive as well so I'm not stuck driving the whole way. The gas pumps scan the credit card with no problem and that's better than some of these cheeepie off brand places where you don't know if there's some credit card scam going on. We all used the restrooms and climbed back into the Suburban and off we go, maybe we can make it all the way to Reno without stopping.

Of the 4 Maverick's we visited on our road trip this one was the best! Soda fountains were working,…read morebathrooms were clean, and the store itself was well stocked. The pump area was very neglected, very full garbage cans and garbage everywhere around the pumps. Not enough to deter me from stopping again but worth noting.

A couple nights ago, I had pulled in to rest (like I usually do), in less than 5 minutes of being there, the owner had called the police for "trespassing," mind you this is a place where semi-trucks and personal vehicles stop at for that main purpose. The owner claimed that I came to dump trash, yet I was resting when the cops came. I never disturbed anyone or ever disrespected the property of any sort of way. I was the only one removed while other vehicle and semis got to stay. I still don't understand that hostility of this owner. I definitely will never shop there or get gas again. I also advised my family and friends who have trucking companies to not go there anymore and recommended other local gas stations that treat there customers with decency, and where they don't have to worry about be awaken by cops over a false report. Yeah the blue truck you called the cops on for no reason, I'll make sure word get around.

I just passed thru Elko and this station is about 40 cents HIGHER than most of the stations that I…read moresaw in town. I used to stay in Elko on business and the locals told me that this station has been charging a LOT more for gas for many years. I once saw their prices at almost a dollar more than other stations there. It seems that this is the first station many motorists see when they pull off I-80 at the east end of Elko. Some of them don't look any further than this station, so they can keep raking in the money from enough naive motorists to allow them to continue this practice. If you need gas in Elko, avoid this place unless you like paying a lot more.

It is conveniently located near the onramp to I-80, which I was going to take to continue my journey eastward. I was happy to be able to pay at this pump which accepted tap-to-pay, unlike the Mobil gas station I stopped by in Sparks, NV the day before (where I would need to use their app to pay at the pump, otherwise I'd have to go pay inside before pumping gas). I'm annoyed at gas pumps that have audio ads that start when I pump gas.
