I'm not a big fan of empanadas, and this was based off the one time I tried a really dry flavorless one. But tonight I decided I'd give it another try. There seemed to be a lot of people stopping by their cute wagon at the Kahului food truck area. I opted for the Chicken and Beef empanada, and waited patiently as he prepared them fresh. It was dee-licious! So much flavor and super moist with a lot of filling. The crust was crunch and flaky. This is something worth trying and will be coming back again.

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife. We weren't necessarily looking for food but were interested in walking around the upcountry farmers market. However, when looking through the stalls we came upon Maui Empandas and decided that we should try them. This operation was being worked by 3 people, 1 to take the money and the other 2 were in the back frying up the empanadas. They had 4 different flavors to choose from and the person working the cash register told me they had a special of the day too. I waited for her to tell me what it was and she never did which I thought was super odd. In any case, my wife and I decided on sharing both the Hana one (chicken, onions, sweet peppers and onions) and then a breakfast one which came with eggs and bacon. The empanadas were already cooked and ready and so after we gave our money, we had our food and were off. The empanadas themselves ending up being quite good. Surprisingly the fried exterior was super light and crispy, which was a nice base for the filling. The Hana one was nice as the chicken and inside was flavorful and juicy. Then the other one had some nice eggs inside and since it was still around breakfast time it was perfect. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I enjoyed both empanadas, especially the exterior, and I would like to try the rest as well.

This was my favorite booth out of the whole entire farmer's market. A must visit spot on Saturday for sure! I tried all their empanadas and man it was hard to decide which one was my favorite. All of them were so good, if you want to try one you definitely can't go wrong with the vegan or beef. Don't forget that homemade chimichurri sauce!! Everything was made fresh and it's the perfect meal. Wish I never had it cus that's all I'll crave every week now. Very impressed

We went with the Hana & Hookipa as those were the only 2 that had meat in them, I think there was one other one, bit it was sold out.

My husband and I had the carne asada arepa on our first visit, and today I tried the Pabellón Arepa with shredded beef, black beans, sweet plantains, and cheese. They also offer a house-made chimichurri that takes the flavor to another level. Let me just say--this place puts love into every dish they make. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and every visit was met with warm, friendly customer service. To finish our meal, my daughter and I shared the coconut and mango slushies, which are made with natural ingredients and were incredibly refreshing. As someone who is Hispanic and pretty picky when it comes to authentic Latin food, I can honestly say this exceeded my expectations. The food is authentic, fresh, and full of flavor. The restaurant also has a charming atmosphere with Venezuelan memorabilia that gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. If you're looking for high-quality Latin food made with care, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't be disappointed! We will def be back at our next trip - didn't get to try the arepa with chicken, avocado and green salsa. Mahalo Miss Arepa!

Restaurant opened promptly at 10am, guest slowly made their way in took us about 15min to place our order. Food: Apple Handheld Pie - size was about 3-4" long and 2" wide. Crust was okay somewhat flaky and fairly tender. Bake was a light golden color could have been baked a touch more. Apples were nice and chunky with sweet cinnamon sugar filling, good filling to crust ratio. Pie was covered in a confections sugar glaze which made it a bit sticky to eat, felt unnecessary for a handheld pie, overall okay. Service was quick order at the counter and staff packs your order, we grabbed our to go. Interior had about 15-20 tables l, self serve water and utensil station if you wanted to dine in. Overall seems like a convenient stop midway to Lahaina if you are looking for a sweet treat, wouldn't wait too long or go out of your way to visit but worth a try if you are in the area.

And while I have yet to step foot inside, I got a chance to try something from a co-worker's takeout that I'm definitely going back for! MENU: Puerto Rican Plate Lunch (pastele, gandule rice, bacalao salad, empanadillas, Portuguese sausage & dessert), or broken down into ala carte, box and pan-sized options. FOOD: Empanadillas I absolutely love meat turnovers. Empanadas, empanadillas... What's the difference between the two? Nothing really, except for the fact that in Puerto Rico, empanadas are referred to as breaded steak or chicken and empanadillas are meat turnovers. Other areas of Spanish-speaking folk call meat turnovers, empanadas. Whatever. All you need to know is that if you like either name, you're going to absolutely LOVE these. It is a well-known fact to friends that I don't care for pastele anything due to its odd and weak flavor. I've had a version from another Maui establishment as a stew and didn't care for it. So when I was offered a pastele-filled empanadilla, I grimaced at the opportunity but was all smiles and moans after devouring it! The warm dough was thick like a pie crust and insanely soft, flaky and buttery. Once you get past that delicious shell, the pastele filling bursts your tastebuds with mouth-watering, savory, tomatoey flavors that takes these bad boys over the edge! OMG. One was definitely not enough. TIP: They're a takeout only biz with odd hours and ordering procedures. Definitely call ahead. OVERALL: They're right up there with the best empanadas we had in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

The space is beautifully decorated inside an old bank, complete with a vintage vault. Since we arrived late, pastry options were limited. The ham and cheese tart (flaky), brownie (dense/decadent), and coconut slice (chewy) were great. The coconut roll, however, lacked flavor (skip it). Croissant breakfast sandwich & mortadella sandwich were good. The main disappointment was the salmon toast. It looked beautiful and was a large portion, but the two extra poached eggs I ordered were completely hard-poached. When I brought this up, the woman behind the counter flippantly told me, "Yes, this is how we make them." Poached eggs should ALWAYS have a runny yolk & I didn't believe her answer for a second. Clearly they made a mistake they did not want to own up to. I was highly disappointed by her attitude, especially since I paid extra for the eggs.

The hostesses fake smile upon entering could be better, we mistakenly gave her the wrong amount in our party and apologized, she sat us at a 4 top at first, until I asked her to be moved to a bigger table with at least one more seat for a child, I apologized again. Her tone and demeanor were trash. Mind you we got to the restaurant at 4, there were 5 tables dining outside. Our waitress I think Alyssa? was her name hadn't introduced herself yet just kept reminding us she'd be right with us so cool, fine. She seemed to be taking care of more tables than she could handle alone. By the time she came to us to take our drink orders it was 4:40, she reminded us about happy hour which ended at 5 so twenty minutes for us to get a margarita or two in before it ended. Although drinks took longer than usual. We had to bother her at 4:59 to put in our last happy hour drinks. The margaritas were inconsistent bc the second round for me was stronger than the first the opposite for my friends who ordered a different flavor. The coconut heaven wasn't very good for an $18 cocktail. Food wise, their crostinis for the appetizers were stale and the braised short ribs my friend ordered was dried out on the outside and a bit gamey, which was unfortunate. Our steaks, the salmon and the risotto were a hit. Just to get to the dessert portion of our meal and to get another drink we waited 20 minutes for our server to come back, I had to step outside, sure enough our server is at the hostess stand leaning on it on a phone scrolling probably talking stories with the rude hostess. Server brought out the birthday dessert we sang hbd, she left and didn't take our dessert order until after almost 10 minutes. Birthday girl and I ordered a tres leches cake.. barely any leches it was dry just by looking at it, her and I agreed it tasted like pancakes with syrup. We were both disappointed, my friends ordered the brownie which the birthday girl tried and enjoyed most. Please don't get me wrong Alyssa was kind and friendly. The attentiveness to her guests is the issue. We spent most of our time waiting for her to return and check in on us. Also an FYI, for those thinking of visiting Fuegos. They charge a service fee. In your tab there is three different total amounts at the bottom. Your actual meal total then a cash payment amount vs a non-cash payment amount which is more. Unaware of what percentage the service fee is, they could be adding any amount they'd like for all we knew. No breakdown what-so-ever. If they intend to charge a service fee I believe it should be company policy that they notify guests as well as on their menus/website and by mouth from servers about this service fee. I understand it's common amongst businesses, but a simple notice would suffice. I asked the server about them and she said "it's not the tip, but a service fee we have, I'm sorry". It wouldn't have made us wonder why our bill could've been less instead of paying more. We know now IF we ever choose to come back.

Bento boxes, musubi in every flavor you can think of (spam, ham, hot dog, chicken, my fave jumbo mochiko chicken), sushi, pork hash, manapua, plus your standard hot dog and burger setup for when you're not feeling adventurous. Pork hash is my go to, no question. Lup cheong manapua is a close second. I'll admit the char siu manapua has fallen off though. Used to be solid, now the filling comes out mushy and kind of flavorless. Feels like a recipe change somewhere down the line, and not for the better. Hoping they bring the old version back. Beyond the hot food, they've got a good lineup of local snacks too. Li hing mui gummies, li hing powder, mochi crunch, the works. Throw in f'real shakes, magazines, and a few toys for keiki, and it's honestly a solid last stop before the airport if you need snacks and something to keep the kids occupied on the flight home. Only thing holding this spot back is the crowd after dark or occasional homeless (never bothered me, but might for some) One more thing worth mentioning: they do catering too, with a few platter options at prices that make sense.
