My wife and I were a big fan of this place during our stay in Maui! My wife loved the banana bread, it was delicious and moist! I love the ube mochi. It had strong ube flavors and the texture was perfect. Parking is a small lot but enough parking. I highly recommend when you're in Maui!

We love this bakery, and make sure to visit it several times during our visit to Maui. It's always a good idea to get there early before everything is gone. I especially love their macaroons and extra long coconut biscotti, but this year I found their Chocolate Pretzel Croissant outstanding!! The salty and sweet just made it perfect. Of course their breads and rolls are yummy too! Staff is always helpful and welcoming. We'll be back next year.

Every visit I have in Maui I stopped by for their ginger Cookie. Every encounter I have is pleasant. Today I came in to take some for my workers to try their POG bread for our red eye flight back. The very special person Elfie helped me choose some options. I was glad to try some Macadamia Cookie, Ginger Cookie and Pog loaf bread. Let me tell you, when it comes to finally finding a bakery where the bread and pastries blast my pallet right back to Germany, little did I expect it across the street from the beautiful beaches of Kīhei. The best part of this business is Frau Elfi. She's a passionate about her craft, very hardworking, and is surrounded by an all star staff. Setting is beyond words, grab your delicious meal on the go, or walk across the street and sit and enjoy it overlooking the ocean. It's incredible all around, just make sure to respectfully throw your trash away properly, once you're done enjoying your "pastries with a view".

This shop has the best breads. Parking lot is small and shared with quite a few shops but people seem to come and go alot so be patient and you'll snag a spot. There is so much to choose from I picked the cinnamon roll and a lilikoi filled pastry. There are a few tables outside but decided to take them home. Both were SO good, I will definately buy these again. The cinnamon roll was so soft and tender and the pastry had so much filling. Be sure to go early for the best selection they sell out quickly of many items. There is usually a line of people waiting for them to open at 7.

Another visit to Maui and another beautiful morning on the beach with a breakfast treat from Maui Bread. They have many options to choose from. It's hard to walk away with only one or two items. They have some warm items like ham and cheese twist, pineapple and cheese twist. Oh no, I am making myself hungry, might need to go back.

Cute little shop with fresh pastries- definitely worth the stop. We ordered the Pina colada sweet bun, pretzel croissant, and Pineapple & ham twist. The bread is so soft when you bite in to it. The pina colada sweet bun is moist and has pineapple & coconut shavings- I would order this every time. The pretzel croissant perfectly flakey, soft, & salty. We love visiting Maui Bread company when we're in Kihei! There are plenty of breads and pastries to choose from. They also have a lovely display area with little jars of jellies, butters, and chutneys with different flavors - lilikoi (passion fruit), guava, mango, and coconut pineapple! We got the Lilikoi Sweet Bun, Pina Colada Sweet Bun, and the Paprika, Onion, Cheese Roll. While we enjoyed them all, the Pina Colada Sweet Bun was my personal favorite. The Lilikoi Sweet Bun was pretty tart and was FILLED with lilikoi jam.

Really cool counter-service bakery with baked goodies. The coffee selection is limited with one hot and one cold option. I had the sweet roll guava in the middle and the guava juice. Both were not overly sweetened and were a huge portion in my opinion (sorry for no pic, next time). Seating is outside and the staff is supppppper friendly. You can smell the baking dough from the parking lot. There is ample free parking and other shops in the complex to visit. I would totally recommend!!!!

We came here a couple of times during our time here and thought overall the baked goods were pretty good. We had the macnut muffin, pretzel croissant (both sell out frequently we were told), the chocolate croissant, and the cheese, paprika and onion bread. The macnut muffin was the best of these pastries. Very fresh and good but also more like a muffin top since it's small. The pretzel croissant lived up to its name and tasted like both things -- was good but it had a bit too much salt. The cheese bread had too much onion in it and the seeds in it were a pleasant surprise (even though the ingredients did not list the seeds). The chocolate croissant was a huge disappointment. It was literally a croissant cut open and filled with chocolate chips -- the chocolate was not even melted. The staff here are friendly and it's nice that have ku'ia chocolate here -- we went on a chocolate tour on a prior visit and it was nice that they sold the chocolates there without having to go to that chocolate store. It's very good chocolate!

This was close to our vacation rental and a place we popped into the first morning. Had cinnamon rolls and pina colada sweet bread. The cinnamon rolls were above average although the sweet rolls were fantastic! Staff was very friendly and prices are area appropriate. read more

This is a nice little bakery with a good selection of quick breads, cookies, and bread. We got the POG quick bread, which was very good, although not the wonder that other reviews made it sound like. We went back the next day for a loaf of sliced white bread and a peanut butter cookie. The white bread is basically an egg bread like challah, very soft and delicious, makes great toast. The cookie was good, nice and tender and enormous. We liked everything and will probably be back for another loaf of bread--we already managed to eat the entirety of the first one! read more

This place was delicious! We were looking for a place to grab a quick bite before we started on our adventure touring the island. We were greeted by a very nice women when we walked in and i was super impressed with the lay out of the whole place and how everything is wrapped individually and baked fresh! So I looked up places I wanted to try for dessert, and this place was on my list based on yelp reviews. I went and bought the "pog" bread for us and one to bring back home to my mom. I came home and took a bite and just felt disappointed. It doesn't help that it was overpriced too. There wasn't much flavor and I don't think it's something I would want again. Even the mochi bread I bought lacked flavor. read more

We stopped here after seeing the absurdly long line at Kihei Coffee. The bread and pastries looked fresh and tasty is the pictures. It did not disappoint! Loved the pork bun and the bacon egg & cheese bun. The sweet potato and POG breads were amazing as well. There is a large selection of breads, pastries and filled buns. The people are friendly and service is quick, which meant more time on the beach or in the water. Love this newer place, will definitely be back! read more

It's our last day on Maui and my Husband and I were supposed to be getting lunch today, but he wanted somethings sweet ! We stopped by, he got a brownie and I got passion cream puffs !! Omg they were both so delicious! Great quality and texture , everything was fresh! If you don't know what you have a taste for, they will let you sample whatever catches your eye! We had a few different items here and most were pretty good. The pineapple bread was my favorite. But overall, the place felt pretty expensive. The pineapple bread was maybe an inch and a half by three inches and was almost $6. A little cheaper and I mightve given four stars instead of three. read more

We've been visiting this shop almost everyday for its delicious treats! So far everything we have purchased has been delicious--my favorite actually being the POG juice. I went to Maui Bread a few times this summer and was never disappointed. Their POG and pineapple poppyseed bread were so delicious. They also have amazing breakfast buns with eggs and meat instead. I'm not a huge coffee fan, but after sampling their coconut iced coffee, I had to get one. I haven't been in a few months, but I literally just woke up and had a dream that I was in Hawaii walking to get breakfast at this place! It definitely sticks with you and I can't wait to go back next summer! read more

Delicious breads! We tried the pretzel and thought it was delicious. I wish they had some sort of cheese dip to accompany it. The chocolate croissant is flaky, buttery, and absolutely delicious! This place is a MUST. We stopped by here each morning in Maui to grab pastries, grabbed coffee from the shop next door, and brought our food to the beach to watch the sunrise. The pastries are amazing and the kolache type breads were unbelievable. The prices were also super reasonable and the staff was so nice. Definitely a win. read more

Came here with the help of Yelp and gotta say it did not fail! Took home banana bread, passion/guava/orange bread and Mac Nut cookie. All for less than $14 bucks. They are super friendly and informative on the products and they are all made in house. I would totally recommending this place for people who enjoys sweet breads. two thumbs up read more

Everything was delicious from this place. They have a very large selection of pastries with a mixture of usuals and some of the local flavors. Overall I tried about 4-5 different pastries which were all very good. Also they have a large selection of homemade juices and some coconut coffee which was good but it did have some thick consistency . It's a NO MISS PLACE IF IN MAUI! read more

The cookies and mochi all delicious! Tried every flavor they offered last week of mochi- Lilikoi and lemon, Ube, peanut butter and choc chip. The coconut and pineapple muffin was a perfect breakfast the next day- the crust was still crunchy and flaky. :) Went 3 times during my week long trip and never got to try the sweet buns, always sold out- hence the 4 stars. If your going to stay open until 7pm make enough to last until 2pm. Otherwise this is a 5 star bakery hands down. read more

I purposely went here because they have GF items. The banana bread was insanely good. I could have eaten the entire loaf in one day. Get there early though! Stuff sells out very fast. I will go back to try other GF items as well. My husband's banana bread and macadamia nut cookie were amazing as well. Would definitely recommend. read more

We offer a large selection of Hawaiian and German Artisan baked goods. Our flavor profile ranges from passion fruit, coconut, macNut, Passion Orange Guava (POG), pineapple, banana, mango. We also offer a large selection of Gluten Free options to serve our customers.

History

Established in 2016.

We started our journey on Oct 3rd, 2016. We wanted to live up to the words of "Maui Bread Company" and honor the multiple cultures that make up Maui. In search of the perfect place to open up a German Bakery, Christine and Steve visited the four major Hawaiian islands in late 2019. It was more than a coincidence that they met the owners of Maui Bread Company at that time. When they heard what Steve and Christine were looking for and the German couple heard what they own, all jaws dropped. Originally, it was not planned to sell the bakery. But after some conversations it became clear that Maui Bread Company would be the perfect platform to introduce "German Artisan Bread" as an additional product line. The ownership changed at the beginning of 2020.

Meet the Business Owner: Steve and Christine L.

Founded in 2016 and owned by a local family as a Fusion Gourmet Bread Shop, Maui Bread Company LLC was and still is passionate about baking and our customers! During the first 4 years of its existence, we have introduced products with Hawaiian and Asian influences. We are well known for our local flavors, our Aloha's, and our unique ability to combine the best of Eastern and Western baking. Many customers call us the gluten-free authority on Maui. No matter what the product is, we sincerely believe quality is everything. The ownership changed to the German couple Christine and Steve at the beginning of 2020. The team of the bake shop consisting of local experts has been added by two German Master Bakers. And new equipment from Germany has been added to the bake shop. My mahi fragments were dry, over spiced and served with two unseasoned baby bok choi leaves and a slice of grilled tomato. For the price of almost $40.00. The beer was good and so was our server so they got one star for that. Otherwise, this place is touristy, overpriced and the maitre d' is slow on the uptake. Overall, there are plenty of great restaurants on Maui, recommend you try one of those.

Friendly service with a small variety of a lot of different baked goods. Different breads such as banana walnut (very heavy on the walnut ingredient) pineapple, POG and a few others. A few different types of cookies, scones, and granola. During breakfast there are a few warmed baked goods such as the bacon braid or chili and cheddar bun. All items baked in house with fresh ingredients however prices are higher than I'd expect (think $4 per cookie, and almost $6 for a personal size loaf of bread). I would not go out of your way but might consider if you're in the area already. read more

I was disappointed in this place. I was excited about the GF options. I tried the lilikoi Mochi-I do not recommend. It tasted almost perfume-y. I tried the ube Mochi-I do not recommend. It was extremely dry, hard, and tasted like a sponge. The GF banana bread was nice and soft. It was good but it had a strong cinnamon(?) like taste so I got sick of it quickly. I think the mochis were extremely overpriced. I took the ube and lilikoi butter home and they were so good!! The employees here are pleasant but it's very overpriced as far as the GF items. read more

I like the small bread they bake in the morning. Many flavors. I like the coconut and the Kdog. This is our family's breakfast place everyday for one week now. Finally something original in Kihei ! If you feel like getting some breads for breakfast or simply get good bread, then you must go to the Maui Bread Company. They do a fusion bread that honers Maui, the texture is in between east and west. The flavor range from sweet mango to salty and savory. read more

The best fresh bread in town! They have multi grain, sourdough, white, and cinnamon raisin. My favorite is the multi grain. You can also buy them in 1/2 loaves. They are so much better price than even the regular markets. A must stop. read more
