Years ago when I was a student at the UofO there was a sandwich shop named Sam's to Go and it was…read moresomething of an institution. They opened a second location in what is now the ARBY'S on West 11th. Their bread was fresh and soft and withstood the topping piled onto their sandwiches. It was heaven and a sandwich was good to get you through two meals. Then they disappeared. Today my wife brought me home a sandwich from Subshop and it hit all the right notes! Fresh baked bread with a great flavor and structure that held together. I had the turkey sandwich and added avocado and bacon. They were very generous with both. Every bite had all of the ingredients and flavors and was perfectly balanced. While this was my first experience with Subshop it won't be my last!

That's what I was going to order so I left. I recently gave them another shot and what a regret that was. Came in and the owners and their entire family were there ripping bags of chips, using foul language, talking about personal subjects not appropriate for a restaurant, etc. I felt like I was in their living room rather than a restaurant. Also, one of them kept on going in and out of the front door every 1-2 minutes wearing a hoody in a way that made me nervous like I need to keep a watchful eye. He was constantly engaging with all the "off" street people and even invited a homeless person inside to go through the garbage to collect recycling. All the while the owners are all there, chilling with their family, and not really caring about cultivating a comfortable environment for their dine in customers, I had enough. To add insult to injury, they got our order wrong. I got up, left, and will NEVER come back again. The worst dining experience of my life

Nicely decorated inside but could use a larger sign on the building. Order at the counter. The matchas come with the homemade syrup of your choice. The Mexican mocha could have used a teeny bit more chocolate and cinnamon, in my opinion. Large selection of milk and milk alternatives. They were pretty quick with the drinks. The food took a little more time but not too long. They're making everything to order so it's not a spot to run in on a rushed lunch break. Burrito was solid with lots of great ingredients and your choice of breakfast meet (or tofu chorizo). The club had good ingredients and they even seasoned the tomatoes (!) but the bread was a little too crunchy (I'm not a fan of toast that cuts my mouth). I'll have to be back soon to try more things. Prices were very reasonable (dare I say good for even lunch prices). Very helpful and friendly staff. I also need to try their pastries! They were getting quite slim by the time I got there around 12:30.

The cafe itself is so cozy inside it's worth dining in. If you're ever in the neighborhood I recommend going in and checking it out!

My family rolled in three sandwiches deep fried chicken, hamburger, pulled pork, like we were assembling the Avengers of handheld meat. Every single one showed up and dunked on the others. There was no loser. There was only us, sitting in stunned silence, chewing like we'd just witnessed a religious event. Then the fries arrived with curry dipping sauce and honestly? Rude. Absolutely rude of them to be that good. The cucumber salad was there to make us feel like responsible adults for approximately four bites before we went back to the sandwiches. My daughter has apparently been sneaking off to this place her ENTIRE time at school here and said NOTHING. Not one word. Total gatekeeping. I found out about Zandos the way you find out your kid has a secret second family. Also ... whatever business arrangement Zandos has going with Crow and Cart is an actual game changer. Someone give these people a key to the city. Michelin, I know you're reading this. Get in the car. Im sad that it took 4 years for us to find the best food in Eugene . Instead, it tasted greasy in every bite. The complimentary specialty sauce also wasn't my favorite. Second, I tried the Cheeseburger (no pickles). I was excited for this one, but it ended up being way too salty. The Porker was definitely the standout. Every bite was flavorful, and the sauce was really good. I'd recommend this one. They also have a beer garden next to the food truck where you can enjoy food and drinks. The atmosphere was clean and nice.
